The nurse who took my measurements and dilated my eyes was extremely rude. My husband, concerned that the drops being used might worsen my condition, asked a simple question, and instead of reassurance, her response was snarky: "It's protocol." To put this in perspective, I was dealing with a painful stye that had turned into cellulitis and had already been suffering for three days. Rather than feeling cared for, I felt dismissed. The entire office had the atmosphere of a factory--patients processed as quickly as possible with little regard for comfort or understanding. This was one of the most impersonal medical experiences I've ever had, and I would strongly recommend steering clear of this practice.

She had an appointment today, and when she got there, was t old her appointment had been canceled and rescheduled. No notice of this was ever received. When I inquired of the check-in person about how notice of this was given, I was told the cancellation and rescheduling was done via USPS. not via e-mail or text message. No such notice was received. This did not create any visible staff concern or surprise. No office manager was on duty so I was unable to explore the matter while I was there. Neither was any doctor on duty there. I confirmed that contact information was correct. In this day and age, not using electronic communications for an appointment matter is inexcusable. The staff I spoke with didn't seem to be particularly concerned that the notice was not received. It looks to me like there is an administrative problem with this office. It contrasts very poorly with my own experience at the Myrtle Beach office, which could not have been better. But because that office is not equipped to handle a wheelchair patient, my wife has had to go to the Murrells Inlet office.

The office is lovely with a concierge feel to it. His equipment looks to be new and cutting edge current. This was quite refreshing after having experienced the very large group practice that I had initially started out with, who seemed to own the Grand Strand, leaving patients with very little in the way of options. After a week to order, they updated her frames with new lenses. She could not see through them without seeing jagged or warped lines when looking at doorways and walls. They attempted to adjust them for 40 minutes then ordered new lenses to try to fix the issues. Another week went by and another set of new lenses came in. Same problems with the newer lenses. After another 40 minutes of trying to adjust the lenses she was still seeing jagged and wrapped lines. Needless to say Mom left very upset and will be going elsewhere for exams and glasses.
