(Since this is a review of BBBB, I'll spare you my critique of the West Valley Detention Center--no doubt, good people hampered by underfunding & overzealous bureaucracies.) Roxy suggested i wait at home in OC. we can start the paperwork over the phone, and when she gets the green light to post bail, then i can make the trek to Van Nuys. A short time later, Roxy called me back. She said they're considering releasing my friend "OR" [own recognizance?], so it's best to hold off on even starting the paperwork till somebody somewhere in justice system decides to go OR or bail. so now i'm not waiting to post bail for my friend, i'm waiting for someone to decide if i my friend is released OR or if she'll have to post bail. in comes Monse, as Roxie's shift ended. Monse, who came across as genuinely concerned for my situation, monitored my friend's status and dutifully updated me throughout her entire shift and a little more. a half hour after her shift ended, monse gives me her last update: 'sorry, but my contacts don't know why it's taking so long, but we're still waiting.' she said I'd get a call from roxy as soon as she had new info on my friend's status. Three days later, my friend was released right before her court appearance: OR. no one knew whether she was to be released OR or require bail till after she was released right before her court appearance. Monse followed up the next day to ask how i was doing and that she finally got word that bail was unnecessary. Thanks, ladies from the bottom of my heart. My son lives in Sherman Oaks, CA and got himself into some trouble and we don't live there in LA anymore, but I needed some help that our attorney couldn't help us with; we needed to get our son out of jail NOW.
