The Coach House at Felt Manor was... perfection. After 2 months stuck at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my fiancée and I were itching for a little getaway for my birthday weekend, and we were so happy that the Felt Manor opened up their doors to The Coach House. With abiding by social distancing and public health guidelines to the fullest extent, the innkeepers, Alex and Geoff, provided us with a truly memorable experience. Alex and Geoff were very warm and welcoming and did everything they could do make our stay enjoyable. All the small little details were all graciously appreciated! Nestled on top a hill in historic Galena, Illinois, The Felt Manor and its Coach House are absolutely stunning buildings with impressive views. They truly take you back in time to the 1800s while providing you with current time comfort. The rooms are very beautiful and comfortable. And with only being a short walk away from the downtown area where all the wonderful stores and restaurants are, the Felt Manor is very conveniently located. Last but not least... the breakfasts are AMAZING. Literally the best you will ever have. Freshly-made baked goods, fresh fruit, and so much more. You know that they really craft the food with a lot of heart. Amazing flavors and beautifully presented. Oh, and they provided a delicious cheese and charcuterie board for happy hour. We would return in a heartbeat, no questions asked. HIGHLY recommend.

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. Alex and Geoff were THE BEST hosts!! Breakfast was amazing each and every day! Happy hour was always a nice surprise! Walking distance to downtown.

Quaint, clean, lovely! Dan was very hospitable. The house is so historical and interesting . The views are breathtaking. I had fresh coffee on huge front porch overlooking Galena. Afternoon wine and fresh cookies. The breakfast was insane! They welcomed my tiny Yorkie!

My friend and I stayed here for a ladies getaway night, and we could not have been happier. I dislike modernization of old homes (white painted wood, contemporary fixtures, etc), so I chose Felt Manor for the second time. It still has the original woodwork and feel of the 1800's, which is what makes these homes so spectacular, while still having every convenience. The Lucius Felt room was large and comfortable (the bed was fantastic), the wine and cookies set out were delicious, and the owner is friendly and easy going. And breakfast? Holy crap. So unbelievably tasty. He prepared an apple souffle that I would travel back to Galena solely for. Overall wonderful experience, highly recommended.

We loved the lush fresh flower arrangements in our room and throughout the entire inn. The common areas (breakfast area/living on main floor and the outdoor patio) are similarly beautiful, with comfortable seating and beautiful vistas. The food - from the afternoon appetizer/cheese/wine tray to the incredible breakfast - was really delicious. And I could go on. If you're at all contemplating a stay in Galena, this is the place to go! It is romantic, quiet, nurturing, luxurious.

For instance, the carpeting was what you would find in a mansion. The linens and towels were luxurious. We were provided with a bottle of wine and appetizers in the evening. There was a nice variety and a more than ample amount. Breakfast in the morning was out of this world! 3 Courses!!! Entrees were expertly prepared and delicious -- and healthy! Probably our favorite was the steel-cut oats with fruit and a banana foster sauce -- YUM! Again, these portions were very generous. Our host, Matthew, was very kind and attentive. I don't think there are enough superlatives to describe our experience!

This hotel seemed to have touches much classier than many of the hotels that are now part of the Wyndham family. There was a nice bar/ lounge where they also serve breakfast and a very large indoor pool. They also have a big deck outside (it was too stinking hot to use but it looked nice). Even a gift shop/ salon. The room was nice and obviously recently updated (the whole hotel appears to have been refreshed). The decor is nice and the extra sink outside the bathroom was nice. The major downside was the horrible water pressure in the shower. Is there a water shortage in northwest Illinois? This was worse than many hotels in California. Other than this issue the room was good especially at the price we paid. The breakfast was on par with other chains of this caliber though they did have real plates and silverware and the pancake machine! Would stay here again when in the area.

I had an interesting chat with the bartender and had an overall great experience here. It's just high on the hill above the town. Easy parking and check in. Dear YELP Readers,…read more This is what I wrote to Ramona of Le Fevre Inn and Resort in Galena IL after the 4 Sista Girls Spent a wonderful Weekend retreat there !!!! The Sista Girl Club Can't Wait to Go BACK to LeFevre Inn & Resort and Galena given it's awesome scenic, quaint, friendly, and culturally diverse surroundings. It started about 6 months out when the owner Ramona responded to my many inquiries quickly and with great suggestions and discounts. We actually spent Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8th, 2017 there which was in the middle of the County Fair which was an unexpected added bonus. The ~ 3 hour drive was priceless as we drove up to paradise. The photos don't give it justice; the Gazebo, Pavilion, outdoor fire pit, indoor fire place, and our all equipped cozy inn with the cute balcony and "BAR" : that's another story for another time ;) and private parking was more than accommodating. Even the cloudy, misty, partly sunny, 60 to 70 degree weather didn't deter the four of us from having a great time. The quick easy 2 x a day drive into Galena downtown was full of wonderful surprises starting with Denise and our highly recommended Tri-State Trolley one hour tour back into Historical time and our driver/tour guide Johnny was full of character, fun facts, and great stories. Shopping at Poopsies for sum thin sum thin you never thought you would want; you'll get IT when you get there;was hilarious and the sales people jumped in to make us feel HAPPY and the discounts were priceless. Brunch at tasty Las Aztecas and Dinner at the Famous Fried Green Tomatoes was fabulous with quick friendly, service, cozy welcoming ambience, plenty of food, and huge variety of drinks. Twice we just had to stop and return to Galena's River Wine and Cheese where owners Bryon and Julie and the gang treated us special; great free tasting of wine, cheese, olive oils, dips...specially made. We did leave a lil sum thin sum thin behind for y'all to purchase. We will be back and I'm preparing my Sista Girl Scrapbook to share our experience with our family and friends. Love and Hugs, Sistas Belinda/Heart, Sheila/Free, Darlene/Sunshine, and me, Linda "Too Tall"/Happy I would love to try and take advantage of your very generous offer...I will pass this along to the other Sista Girls to see if they can afford it. I may need to pass since I have to pay for a destination wedding in 6 months...for a friend :) Love and Many Hugs, Sista Linda Too Tall Happy PS: Have also shared the Good/G-D news on Trip Advisor too.
