OY.. it's a difficult drive...once you turn at the sign off of Rt. 20. My GPS guided me almost double the actual time to arrive at The Woodlands.. winding roads. Thank goodness it wasn't snowing! I can't imagine how bad it would have been. We were seated near a window, which would be nice in the summer for the view. Our server was very sweet. She asked if we wanted a cocktail I decided to try their private label red wine. It was just ok. Next we both hsd the Italian sausage and corn chowder soup. It was fantastic! I had the worst filet mignon ever! It was flat and bland. Certainly not worth the money. Ive had a better filet mignon from JEWEL or MEIJER! My husband had the salmon with the squash and sweet mashed potatoes. He said the potatoes was the best part. I would not go back... The staff and main building are outstanding. Wish I could give more stars to reflect that! We have to rate it closer to a 3, though, because the rooms were pretty old. Ours had a number of little bugs (no big deal when you're out in the forestry) and some mold in the bathroom. It was minor, but honestly you can tell the rooms need a revamp and some TLC. Loved the free shuttle service the resort provided to downtown galena and the lounge on site!! We would come back to visit; it seems like a great place to host a wedding or event. read more

The rooms are dark and smell like mold/an old basement with water damage. The carpet is dirty. For over $250 a night, the rooms in the main lodge are not worth it at all. read more

Played the General this past Friday, brought 10 of us. Yes, it's a great course but $160/round I disagree. Also, 6 hours to play 18 holes - waited on every shot. After 6 holes (2 hours) a ranger tried to drive by us, we grabbed him and said something. He acted like it's the norm and no big deal, all he said was we have 200 players today. Well, that's not how you treat your customers. If all u care about is revenue then good luck, but u need to spread tee times out and add GPS that notifies groups when they r behind and push people so it's enjoyable! WON'T BE BACK..... read more

Staff was great but rooms need updating. It was 95 degrees outside and our room was so humid, water dripped from the ceiling even though we had the air set at 66. Our clothes were damp when we got home. The hallways were so hot I don't believe there was any cooling there. It is such a beautiful location it is a shame the accommodations are so rundown. read more

We made a reservation for 2 nights this coming week (Jan 19-21, 2025), but the weather forecast is for single digit Arctic temperatures, making it unwise to even be outside for a walk. So last night (Jan 16) I cancelled. Eagle Ridge is requiring me to forfeit the cost of one night, which is close to $300 (this is for a room that is basically the same as a standard motel room). So now that room will sit empty and the resort will profit from the cold weather. The management there is unreasonable and unfair. I'd never stay at this place again and strongly encourage everyone to read the fine print before booking a room. This place is all about squeezing money from people and do not care about common sense or decency. read more

Stayed at Eagle Ridge Inn on Saturday 4/13/24 as attended Hunter Fuerste's American Vintage Orchestra event with Bryan Anthony. Excellent performance, beautiful venue. It was clear that the Eagle Ridge management & staff planned, organized & executed an exceptional evening. Great dinner in the Woodlands prior to event. Chris was our waitress and provided outstanding service. Over the course of our stay, we must say that the general manager Jack Carew exceeded our expectations in every way. We've played here a few times. The General is the reason we've been back. 4 stars for that course, 3 for The North Course and 2 for The South Course. When you play here, be prepared for long rounds, unless you luck out and play when there aren't a ton of people. It's great that they have so many lodging options. We've stayed in a 2 bedroom townhome and a 3 bedroom home. The 2 bedroom 2 bath townhome was fine the 3 bedroom home was very dusty and had an old broken hot tub. Would stay in the townhome again but avoid the single family homes. read more

We rented the 3 bedroom villa which was large enough for 3 families and very nicely laid out. Nice walking trails, swimming pool access, kayaks, canoes and paddle boats . Maggie at the restaurant was so polite with our food order and customized according to our dietary restrictions. Haley Francine seemed a little rude initially but was okay the next day. One thing I will tell everyone is the mosquito invasion was something we weren't prepared for.... if we ever go back we hopefully will be more prepared. read more

We reserved a weekend stay at Eagle Ridge because we reserved a flight with Galena on the Fly hot air balloons. The hotel's amenities were not as I expected. There was a large dead spider in the pool and mouse droppings on the patio of our room. Inside of our room was clean and the views around the property were nice. read more

Edit: this is NOT a stink bug as their management suggests. There was a bed bug on the bed and a dead bed bug in the bathroom. I'm aware of the difference, and I think the image speaks for itself. I hope they take this complaint seriously, as it is a health issue and people can become sick as a result of these specific bug bites. read more

3 and a half... beautiful grounds, amazingly nice staff but...with it being far off from everything else, made it a bit challenging for a quick bite (the restaurants are unnecessarily expensive) or quick purchase. the townhouses are very very dated, almost dirty. and the beds were more uncomfortable than my college dorm room bed...expect a lot more for a "resort". you don't get any turn down service or food delivery if you're not in the main building which was a bit frustrating as well. really nice and clean pool and a decent playroom (no coins) for the older kids. read more

PROTECT YOUR HEALTH AND STAY FAR AWAY! *Writing this review for the health of others we hope we can dissuade from a stay here. The state in which we found our accommodations was terrifying* Call it a hairy situation...call it incompetence ...we'd call it a biohazard that should be shuttered in the time of Covid-19 until the health department investigates. Read on if you plan to stay here. Puke-inducing, putrid, and disgustingly dirty does not even come close to describing the state in which we found our 'villa' at Eagle Ridge. Seeking a secluded and safe in-state getaway in Illinois in July during Covid--with fond memories of staying at Eagle Ridge Territories years ago--my husband and I booked what we thought was a 2-bedroom home/villa--it turned out to be a dilapidated, decrepit and hazardous condo unit on the basement level of a condo building--far from what was expected. Especially for almost $400 a night. Upon entering the unit, we were hit with the foul, decomposing scent of moist must and old, wet shag carpeting. Trying to look past how worn, used and sat-in all the furniture seemed, we hoped the unit itself would at least be clean given the current Covid crisis. Take a look at the pictures, and you will see this was certainly not the case. Aside from new soap by the sink, it would be our best guess that housekeeping did not even clean the unit prior to our arrival, despite having to wait hours for our room to be ready and the hotel "checking" by radioing someone to ensure it was "clean" before releasing the room to us. Dust and hair were everywhere. The cutting board in the kitchen had blackened crumbs all over it from the last tenant. One television remote was lying belly up with an exploded battery; the other remote was taped together and had oodles of crimped white hair stuck in it. A coffee mug in the cabinet had white, murky, soiled who knows what inside. The carpet and rug had dirt and burn holes in it. Picture frames were topsy turvy. The curtain on the screened in porch was hanging on by a thread. A sticky half-hardened substance was all over the coffee table. And to top it all off, the air vent in the bathroom had a roll of toilet paper haphazardly stuffed in it from somebody apparently attempting to halt a leak of orange mystery liquid. It struck us as such a shock and breathing hazard in a time of widespread respiratory distress to see that this was the state of the unit. We were incredulous. Looking under the sink, we found old, dingy sponges, a rusted fly swatter and a clear indication that cleanliness is far from a priority. VOM. VOM. VOM. We were thoroughly horrified for our own health and wanted to leave immediately. Upon calling to complain and ask for different lodging, the front desk staff insisted the musty smell was from the "ozone" they spray to prevent against Covid-19 and said there were no other accommodations available. They offered to send a cleaning crew in that evening, but not wanting to risk our own health amongst several strangers, we declined and asked for a refund. I honestly don't know that there was any amount of cleaning that could be done to truly make that unit worthy of a guest. They offered 10 percent off our stay, which wasn't even close to approaching the full refund they should have offered immediately given the biohazard that was this villa. No apologies were issued whatsoever. Given the late hour, we were forced to stay the night there and make a run for it the next day. Upon leaving promptly the following morning, we did receive a refund for our second night that we would be no longer taking and beelined it back home. I can't stress enough how utterly uncaring or incompetent the management must be to let a unit like this exist for the public's use. It's simply begging for virus spread and cross-contamination on literally every surface. Truly the most nasty, nightmarish stay. What a shame given the beautiful resort property itself and outdoorsy escape that this could be. Please strongly consider alternate lodging if you are planning to be in the Galena area. Do it for your sanity. Do it for your peace of mind. DO IT FOR YOUR HEALTH. read more

Really friendly staff throughout, excellent overall experience! We stayed at one of the townhouses. While they are a bit dated (we actually enjoyed the '80s vibe), they have every amenity and are extremely comfortable, clean, well-maintained and big! Ours had three bedrooms, three baths, laid out well for plenty of privacy on each floor. We had two patios, a grill, the list goes on. Unassigned parking spots are right outside the door. Really nice views of the woods (bring bug spray for when sitting out on the patio in summer). We were visiting for the Great Galena Balloon Race. Our townhouse was a 2-minute walk to the event, and was also a 2-minute walk to the main clubhouse and general store - excellent location. The race itself was a truly fun and memorable experience. Throughout, the grounds are meticulously maintained. The Sunday brunch at the main resort building was a great price ($16), offered a large variety of items and was excellent. Restaurant staff was polite and efficient. We spoke with a few members who had nothing but good things to say about their membership experience. Eagle Ridge also offers a wide variety of events for guests and members - the 4th of July festivities look pretty awesome! The Eagle Ridge grounds are massive and also offer a couple other restaurants that we didn't get to but looked really nice. There's also hiking trails, a marina for boats, horse stables and much more. Overall, excellent visit, can't wait to return! read more

First, I'd like to say that their website and booking process are absolutely terrible. That's not bad enough to warrant a lower ranking, in my opinion, but after all was said and done it is now factored in. Secondly, on our arrival and attempt to check in we were not even greeted when we entered. Asking an employee where we should check in, he just stared at us and shrugged then looked away. Someone else came and volunteered to help, but his rudeness didn't go unnoticed. Thirdly, the house was not as clean as it should have been. The master bedroom bed was so hard it literally felt like laying on a stack of cardboard boxes covered in a sheet. The resort charged us an extra $200 without warning, a hidden fee that they charged AFTER we had payed in full for the unit. We found glass in the hot tub that nobody had bothered to clean out, and it was grossly overchlorinated. The screens in the outdoor area were absolutely filthy, and I did not have high standards for that room to begin with. They were so gross that you couldn't even see out of them when night fell because all of the dust and grime lit up. And still, I was not going to leave a bad review because we still very much enjoyed our stay. Over a week later, they sent charges for breaking a TV that we never even touched. Accumulatively this is $500 in additional charges on top of the already overpriced stay. We will never be staying here again. I give it two stars, because the area is very nice and the house was not too bad overall, just a few things that (for the price you pay there) I was displeased to have to clean up myself when we got there. (Update: as of now the charges have been dropped, the manager was very friendly and helpful. I have upgraded to a 3* review based on the exceptional experience with their management after the fact in resolving these issues.) read more

A challenging but not insurmountable course. It is very well maintained with soft tee boxes and manicured greens. Lots of forced carries for anything other than the ladies tees, even those have a few as well. Many holes are quite narrow with mature trees on either side. If you come out of Monday it is slow and they may not have any beverage cart service so plan accordingly. if you are a guest staying at the resort you will get a 37 percent discount on the golf at The General. If it rains at all be extremely careful on the steep cart path as it can get very slippery. The Woodstone restaurant at the clubhouse has a nice view a hole number 1 and quite good food. read more

We haven't even stayed there yet and our experience is horrible. My wife and I bid on a golf and stay package at a charity silent auction for Eagle Ridge. We love Galena but have never stayed there and wanted to enjoy ourselves. We made our reservation a couple of weeks ago and with the Covid-19 pandemic flaring back up, we decided to cancel and rebook for later in the fall. My wife spoke to a woman named Angie who was extremely rude. We asked to cancel and she said we would forfeit the night because of their 7-day cancellation policy - OK, I get that. It is a resort and that is fine. She then asked to reschedule for a later date and was put on hold. Angie, extremely rude the entire time and not listening at all to a customer request, came back off hold and told my wife the reservation was canceled but we would be charged the $35 cancellation fee. She ignored my wife's request to reschedule and did what she wanted. Angie and Eagle Ridge have us rethinking our decision to bid on such an expensive package. We are already disappointed. At this point, we are thrilled to help out a charitable organization but are disappointed we cannot enjoy our Galena getaway. read more

This place was cute as a button! A group of us came here for a bachelorette weekend and it was absolutely perfect for us group of girls. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, sitting space, room in the kitchen, a great deck with a beautiful wooded view and nice smooth sidewalks leading to each unit. The people at the front desk when we checked in were SO nice and welcoming, asking us about Iowa and sharing stories about where they were from. I got a lemon blow pop from the cute little vase sitting on the counter. We enjoyed clean rooms, transportation to and from our sunset cruise, a fun boat ride on the late at sunset complete with champagne and ended our stay with paddle boating where we got to enjoy breath taking scenery. In addition to all of that, the restaurant on site had really tasty food with super reasonable prices and a list of wine that looked like a phone book. Truly, something for everyone! I will say however, the wait stall left much to be desired when it came to customer service and satisfaction. Overall, I would absolutely return to Eagle Ridge in the future and think that it would be a perfect place for a weekend getaway any time of year. read more

My friends and I stayed at one of their Villas. There was 6 of us and the villa was huge. There were 2 outside patio areas, one main living room, a downstairs living room, plenty of bathrooms. It's perfect that one bed room is upstairs and the rest our down stairs in case some people want to go to sleep early. If you are staying in the villas you will need to drive to the pool. My family and I stayed at a house in galena for our family reunion and as it was a nice house, the longer we stayed here the more things we didn't like. The #1 issue we had was bugs. Yes it is in the woods but the bugs inside are insane. There are centipedes ALL over the house along with many other bugs including: big spiders, moths, grass hoppers, misquitos, and countless other bugs we also saw all inside the house. Even though we kept the doors shut and lights off there were still tons of bugs everywhere 24/7. The hot tub was not only $100 more per night but the chemicals were messed up by the second day. The deck and the fire pit we're very nice. The kitchen was nice and clean along with the resort and activities but we are all disappointed very much by the house. read more

This is my second review. My boyfriend and I went the weekend after Valentine day. We stayed in another villa/condo from Thursday -Monday which was perfect because they were giving a presidents day special. My boyfriend wasn't happy at first because the villa we had last year was booked and we loved that room. However, we did find another room. This year's room was really nice however the bedroom could have been a little updated other then the palm tree blanket set. Also, we arrived on the day that all the cable had went out in the entire resort. But they were very accommodating. When they couldn't get our tv to work they found another one from another room that not only worked but was much larger then the one we had originally. Overall... Love this resort. We are making it out Valentine's day tradition and hopefully we get lucky and get our very first room again but it is nice to try different rooms. read more

We also decided to drive inside the territory just being curious. They have a nice big golf course and a gift shop where guests staying within the territory can purchase things and play some golf. read more
