I would not recommend this property. From the moment you arrive, you notice the place is run down, dated, and severely overpriced for the value offered. 1. Dated rooms & poor maintenance The rooms feel stuck in time -- the TV and much of the furniture look to be decades old. Water pressure is poor, and my sister and brother-in-law had no water for their pre-wedding shower. Management did not apologize and instead insisted my brother-in-law "didn't know how to turn on the shower." (He has built bathrooms, so this was simply insulting.) 2. No complimentary towels for water activities Beach towels must be purchased -- none are provided for guests. 3. Breakfast with an unusually limited time window While most hotels offer at least a 2-hour breakfast period (e.g., 8:00-10:00), here it was fixed at 9:30 a.m. only. 4. Restaurant closed The on-site restaurant was closed during our stay. When I asked to see the menu, the items seemed oddly upscale for the setting (like something from a Four Seasons) and were priced accordingly. Guests are left to leave the property for meals. 5. Pool and lake issues The pool, while clean, was unheated. The lake is extremely weedy. Outdoor furniture had no cushions, making it uncomfortable. 6. No daily housekeeping Rooms are not serviced during your stay. 7. Key inconvenience Only one key is issued per room. We were told we could leave it at the desk if needed, but the front desk was rarely staffed, so this wasn't practical. In summary: Despite friendly student staff, the outdated facilities, lack of amenities, and dismissive management make this a poor value for the high prices charged. I would not stay here again or recommend it.

When we landed in Toronto I was worried this place wasn't gonna be all that. I was totally wrong. We drove north 2 hours from Toronto and found this place in Buckhorn. Very tucked away in the woods. Very secluded. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming she actually met us outside. She also plays hostess in the dining area. She was very friendly. The dining area has a chef named Dave this guy was the star of the show. Great cook everything in the pics he made. Everything was delicious also he's not afraid to come out and meet you and have a normal conversation with you. The entire staff makes you feel like you are family. I definitely will be back maybe in the spring. I hear there is some great fishing on the lake. Oh and I can't forget to mention the tea that he made......... I am a tea drinker and the tea he made from the berries from a tree out back was phenomenal.

Though our particular room was tiny, it seemed that they do a lot with the small space you get, as you get a mini fridge, a microwave, and a good selection of satellite channels. As well, it appears to be one of the lowest priced if not the lowest priced motel in Peterborough, and we were lucky that there was a room available, even though we went in the shoulder season, just after school-age students had gone back to school. It is rather minimalist in the food and drink offerings (no vending machines for food and drink), but for I and my husband, we tend to bring our own food and drink, so it was not that critical for us.

But then again, it has never been overly popular in the area. And now we see why. Never going there again , but why would we if they are turning away customers.

They have SUP, kayaks and canoes that are free to use and I enjoyed paddling around the lake. Also tubing for kids. We saw a lot of guests fishing if that's your thing. We did a day trip to the Petroglyphs which are a 15 min drive, highly recommended! They offer a free buffet breakfast with eggs, waffles, bagels, cereal and roasted potatoes etc lovely to roll out of bed and enjoy. We all enjoyed our meals at the pub style restaurant the Boathouse. I had the veggie burger which was super tasty. My companions had the salmon which they liked as well. We also went to the fine dining restaurant Mount Julian, I liked that they featured farm to table specialties but didn't feel like the 7 course tasting menu was worth the $200 per person. It was hit and miss. The only other item that could be improved was the beautiful pool looked like it needed to be cleaned a bit more and the steam room was closed for repair. The sauna was great however. Otherwise it was a wonderful stay, love to head back again.

Scattered around the property are cabins of varying sizes. But the gems of the resort is what are in these cabins. Flat screen tv? Dishwasher? Giant kitchens? Am I home or am I at a cottage ? This is an oasis from the stresses of city life. With campfires by the beach, scavenger hunts, archery lessons and boat rides around Stoney Lake, this is the kawartha lakes at its best.

It's very pretty and picturesque and I think a nice place for like an outdoor wedding. Our room itself was pretty standard. We had a queen bed, couch, coffee table, flat screen TV, microwave and small fridge. The bathroom is small and is just the toilet and bath tub. The sink is outside of the bathroom. There's a gym and a pool, neither of which were used by us. Lots of free parking. The breakfast area is nice. Since our stay was during the Covid-19 Pandemic (not our preferred time to travel, but our journey was ultimately for an interment), the hot food was served in "to-go" pre-packaged servings by an attendant (it was a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese on an English muffin when we were there). The attendant also serves you coffee and tea. Everything else is single serving individually wrapped and you can serve yourself with those (e.g bottled juice, yogurt, packaged pastries, granola bars, etc.). The dining room was open, with tables spaced out, but we opted to eat in our own room. I was satisfied with the Covid precautions. We paid around $120 a night. I would stay here again. Hopefully next time under happier circumstances, both personally and from a global health perspective.

Once there are two towels, two hand towels and two face washers stacked on the one rail, everything has to be moved for use. There are no shelves or rails or hooks anywhere else in the room so when you shower you leave your clothes on the toilet lid. If you want to hang the hand towels somewhere after use, the bath towels are in the way. Considering the size of the bathroom which is adequate, another rail or hook on the door would have made the whole experience perfect. There is a no smoking sign on the door, however smoking is allowed on the balcony, evidenced by a dirty ash tray on the table in the centre. Love the quirky ceiling fan on the balcony.
