Came here twice for a GALA hosted by the Giving Edge Foundation. In one of those instances I did a package where I stayed the night. The rooms were lovely. There's no elevator though so getting to the rooms might be hard if you're wheelchair bound or have bad lungs. The property overall is nice. I don't live on Kent Island anymore but if I was to do a weekend getaway trip I would consider booking a room here over a chain hotel that is on the Narrows Bridge. read more

Please give the director all the kudos possible. Two times can easily be three/ late evening 4/5p serving...for Thanksgiving I'd def come back. It was so well organized cannot wait to share with coworkers and other friends in the area. * ample food selection * attentive staff * every time I saw a drop food on the floor or table, when I looked again it was gone - GIVE THE SERVERS A PRIZE PLEASE * check in was well paced, allowed tables to slowly begin getting food, I came at 10:45a for the 11a seating * anytime a dish was running low, I saw it being replaced. * none of the stations were ever unmanned * available condiments for every food, thank you. I even saw hot sauce!! * the tablecloths and decorations were done so well, please give the person who decorated kudos...the eggs with candy on the tables really showed yall care!! * I appreciated the stations for dirty dishes placed on the side, at doors. I used them several times to place our tables dirty plates. * servers were always walking around either cleaning helping replenish or simply moving along. No one was ever just standing around. * appreciated the music selection, and the volume was PERFECT...low enough to hear but not drown out voice conversations. * perfect LIGHTING too, no weird artificial lights, loved the setting VERY well done. SO well organized. I don't drink so I hope the bar was just as well done. I needed ice and the bartenders were very helpful. * they could use more dishes/plateware & silverware, logistics issue :) ...at least 3x I had to get a plate from the omelette station :( 10/10 experience overall!!! Beautiful to See, Horrible to Stay At We stayed at Kent Island Resort for a family wedding, along with many other family members and friends who stayed on the property for multiple nights. The property itself is beautiful, and the ceremony and reception spaces were very nice. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended for us. At nearly $400 per night, I expected accommodations that felt far more luxurious than a typical hotel. Instead, we found paper-thin walls, large gaps around room doors, and constant hallway noise. In some rooms, the gaps were large enough to see through when the doors were closed. Every conversation, door closing, or bump against a wall sounded like it was happening inside the room. The bathrooms had been updated and looked nice, but even the shower door would not stay closed while in use. The biggest issue, however, was the fire alarm system. The first alarm went off while many wedding guests were getting ready. One staff member told a family member that a hot shower had triggered the alarm. Shortly afterward, someone identifying himself as the property manager said that was incorrect and claimed someone had pulled the alarm instead. After about 15 minutes, everyone was allowed back inside because there was no actual fire. While false alarms can happen, the explanations we received were inconsistent and changed depending on who we spoke with. After a long wedding day, reception, and cleanup, most of us finally went to bed around 11:30 p.m. At approximately 1:20 a.m., the fire alarm went off again. Guests poured into the hallways and outside until a staff member informed everyone that evacuation was not necessary. The alarm was extremely loud and disrupted the entire hotel. Unfortunately, the disruptions continued. Around 3:30 a.m., loud music began blasting from the lobby area. Family members went to investigate and found no one at the front desk. A group of teenagers or young adults was playing music loudly, and there appeared to be no staff present to address the situation. The next morning, nearly everyone in our group--including the bride and groom--was discussing the terrible night's sleep and repeated disruptions. Once again, we received different explanations regarding the overnight alarm but no clear answer. During checkout, we asked whether the resort could offer any compensation for the multiple alarms and disturbances. We were told that no refund or credit was available but that we could receive 50% off a future stay. Since none of us had any intention of returning, that offer felt meaningless. After we left, my wife's aunt contacted the Kent Island Fire Department regarding the repeated false alarms. She was told that the department had received numerous complaints about the property and that the Fire Marshal had previously been involved regarding violations. Given our experience, that information was concerning. The wedding venue itself was beautiful, but I cannot recommend staying overnight at this property. If you're looking for accommodations in the area, I would strongly recommend staying at the Hilton, the Hyatt, or the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club instead. At similar price points, I believe they offer a much better guest experience. read more

I was really looking forward to staying at the Kent Island Resort. First off, the staff was great! Customer service was excellent, it was just a shame we needed them so often. We had originally planned our stay around a free event that was supposed to take place while we were there. The event was cancelled after we booked. We decided to keep our reservation anyway. Unfortunately there is not a lot to do on a cold day in March in Kent Island. The grounds are beautiful. It's a lovely wedding venue. The bocce court was missing the white ball and there were only 3 horseshoes at the horseshoe pits. My one friend had to call service because their tv and phone didn't work and the their main lightbulb blew later that evening. My other friend had to change rooms because theirs had a steep set of stairs leading down to their bathroom. None of our other rooms had a strange bathroom like this and it wasn't mentioned when we booked. A "resort fee" was brought up when we arrived. They told us the changed systems which for some reason threw off the billing as most of our payment info didn't match. We had dinner at 18Twenty. It was just okay. My husband's lobster was raw. The chef apologized and they removed it from our bill. Again, great customer service. I want to point out the go as it's a nice place but it was very expensive and we had some issues. We wondered if the place was under new management and going through some growing pains. There's definitely potential here but it needs some work. read more

This was a really great find. Live in DC suburbs and wanted to get away last minute for the July 4th weekend, but not go far and not deal with the crazy crowds at the beach. This was so perfect. The old mansion is beautifully updated and modern with excellent AC (it was over 100 degrees all weekend), with a great pool and restaurant ( ate there 3 times). We would have eaten all meals there but have friends nearby that we saw one night. Eat out on the enclosed patio. Sunny but nice and cool with pretty views. Importantly, this is a very relaxed and casual place and not stuffy at all. It's just over the bay bridge so close. Loved it. read more

Is this a wedding venue or a restaurant? Seems like they are struggling to be both. Called on Saturday to ask if serving lunch outside on the deck. We were hoping to come by boat to have lunch. "Yes, we are open and serving outside, please join us." Arrived and walked through an outdoor wedding venue set up (red flag) and the deck was empty. Walked in to the hostess desk to be told they are not serving outside because of a wedding. We arrived before 2 and the wedding was at 5:30. Six of us for lunch and they refused to seat us. We were told they were taking pics before the wedding and would not allow anyone on the deck. What happened to the guy who told us to please come? We asked if we could sit in the bar (mind you, we were extremely uncomfortable walking into a fine dining establishment dressed for a boat ride, but we were starving!) The hostess and the bartender did not agree on whether or not we could be seated outside. Bartender thought it would be fine, hostess threw her arms up in the air and said "I'm not getting in trouble" and walked away. Thank you, Sandra (bartender) for greeting us, inviting us into the bar and serving us a fabulous lunch. We had great conversation and enjoyed our meal. For those of you who say, talk to local management -- I tried. I wrote a message through their website, and no one acknowledged or responded. So here I am on Yelp. Good food and a beautiful outdoor ambiance for lunch, if they choose to allow you to sit outside. No signage at the boat dock, no dock hand, no one to tell us not to enter. Can you imagine if we had to walk through the wedding ceremony to get back to our boat? There would have been a very UNHAPPY bride! Yikes! LOL read more

Kent Island Resort - Our room! - Hotels Near Me - Stevensville, Maryland

I wanted to love it. It fought me on that. First the good: the staff is friendly and the property was lovely. There is ample free parking, a restaurant on premises, and plenty of scenic areas to sit or stroll and enjoy the grounds. Now the issues: * the long private road leading up to the property is littered with deep potholes. Trucks and SUVs are fine but if you arrive in a car, be prepared to dodge and weave or risk tire damage. * There is no elevator and no staff to help with luggage. Those with mobility issues or other physical limitations be warned: you have to navigate many steps with your own luggage, both up and down the stairs. * My room was not fully clean. There was a piece of plastic trash on the bench in the room, a small wad of toilet paper in the toilet (thankfully the water looked clean), a long black hair in sheets, and a large broken plastic umbrella on the balcony outside my room. * Noise carries easily into the room. The hotel was fully booked so there was plenty of noise at all hours. * The door to the room didn't fit the frame (which I'm sure contributes to the noise issues). There was about a .5" to 1" gap between the door and the doorframe all the way around the door, so at night when the lights in the room are off, the lights (and sounds) from the hallway still seep into the room. * I booked the room through the United Airlines program which promises a VIP perk for certain members at check in. The desk clerk didn't know anything about it and I didn't receive one. I'll be passing through Kent Island again next week, but, based on my experience, I won't be returning to this property. read more

The house looks cute online but had several problems. It's not accessible--no elevator and not suited for guests with mobility issues. The beach bar was closed the whole stay, despite being listed as open. Our room had ants, spiders, spider webs, and a strong moldy smell. Ants got into my clothes, and there's clearly a moisture problem. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, and the thermostat wouldn't go below 75-77°F, making it uncomfortable. read more

Kent Island Resort is magnificent...the scenery is picture perfect. It was quiet and quaint and made you feel like you stepped into a magazine. I cannot believe how awful my stay was at this hotel. I stayed there because my niece was getting married there and it was the worst experience all around. I feel so bad for my niece and for other guests. Started off months ago when I tried to make a reservation and even though my niece had blocked off rooms for her wedding, they couldn't figure out how to get me into a room for the weekend. We finally worked it out at the last minute and checked in. The bed was broken when we arrived and so I mentioned to the front desk before we left for dinner at 5:30 pm, that it was broken. By the time we got home at 10:30 PM we went upstairs and the bed was still broken. We went downstairs to ask why they didn't fix it and they said that the maintenance person wasn't on the property. Not really sure why they couldn't tell us that before we left for dinner but we had to change rooms at 11 PM. Which is interesting because I was told there were no extra rooms available that night as another out of town guest tried to book a room there Friday night. The whole entire time we were there, the people who worked there had an attitude, were not friendly, and for the amount of money I spent, it was terrible service. The place is outdated, the walls are thin, and you could hear pretty much everything going on all night long. I would never stay there again. Save your money and stay at a nice Airbnb. read more

There were over 20 of us last night participating in our "Pickleball ladies night out"! This was the first for many of us to come to Kentmoore since they reopened. I must say we all had a lovely time. Because of our size, we were seated out on the porch, which was very comfortable I'll be at Very Loud. Our food was delicious, and our service, performed by Corrie and Brittany, was excellent! They were so accommodating, sweet and friendly. There was really only one downside to the evening... We reserved here to attend the Annapolis sailboat show. It was lovely from the entrance to the driveway, onward. Small hotel, I would call it a boutique style hotel, reasonably priced. Clean, clean, clean. The front desk staff was exceptionally attentive. I would definitely stay here again, with pleasure. Lost a star due to no shelf in the shower for essentials, and odd on-site restaurant hours. Otherwise perfect. read more

Sink faucet is nice and high. The sun was much too bright today for this room. If you are someone who likes to leave windows open all night you will be cold in the morning. There was little to no toilet paper in the shower. Pillow to bed ratio satisfactory. Sprinkler system appears legitimate. We brought our own bacon but there were no popsicles in the fridge. Misleading--my wife and I were given a gift certificate to stay and dine at the resort. The gift certificate is plain. It has the name of the resort and a dollar amount. There are no restrictions indicated. Today, I called to make a reservation. The person who answered the phone confirmed that they had a record of the gift certificate (presumably confirmed based on the certificate number, the purchaser, and the recipient). I was told that the gift certificate is invalid for accommodations and can only be used for the restaurant (despite there being NO such restrictions listed on the gift certificate). I then asked to use the gift certificate for the Chef's Table (a once/month dinner). I was told that we could not use the gift certificate for that, either, and could only use it for non-special events at the restaurant. That is most assuredly not what was intended by my sister and brother-in-law, who bought the gift certificate for us. We have not made a reservation or decided what to do. Sending a follow up. After posting this review and sending an e-mail to the resort, I was contacted and the problem was (hopefully) rectified. Was told that the person to whom I spoke on the phone was misinformed and made an error in telling me the gift certificate could not be used for accommodations and the Chef's Table. I was ultimately able to use the certificate and made reservations for those purposes. Reservation date us still nearly two months away. Hopefully, all goes well. The error was pretty significant, but kudos to resort management for addressing the issue. read more

I stayed here for two nights as a guest for a wedding. The property was clean, rooms were nice (typical historic hotel room), AC kept up with the heat which was nice. I commuted in for the wedding on Friday, which required for me to get up at 5am to catch a flight. I attended the rehearsal and was able to get into bed around 10:30pm. Shortly thereafter, music started to play downstairs. I was on the second floor and had no problem identifying what songs where playing, that's how loud it was. The guests were making a lot of noise as well.This continued until 12:45 that night. When I called the front desk to ask them what was going on, they told me the wedding was having an after party and quiet time was at 12:30am. I get it, it's a wedding venue, there's gonna be noise. I was patient and thought it was gonna calm down around 11pm, but it didn't. I stay in hotels for a living, most of them have quiet time at 10pm. Also, if I paid $100 a night here, I wouldn't be writing this review, but when I drop $370 a night, I do expect at a minimum a quiet night of sleep. I talked to the manager on the way out, she informed me quiet time was at 10pm and that she would be in touch in regards to a refund. I've called twice and have had no response from them, it's been 7 weeks. Overall, the property is nice, but it's rules regarding noise are absurd for the price they charge. Be prepared to get little sleep before your wedding day if you stay here. While hotel management assured me I would hear back, I've heard nothing which leads me here. read more

The food was amazing, the ambiance was on point, and the drinks, well quite frankly were delightful! If you're lucky enough to score a seat at the bar, ask for Chrysten, she mixes a mean Blackerry Bourbon cocktail, with personality and a big smile! The Pasta Limone with rockfish was subtle with the lemon and delicate with the rockfish. The flank steak was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were the perfect accoutrement! Kent Island Resort was extremely underwhelming. Poor sleep due to uneven floorboards leading to a lopsided bed, paper thin walls and a very loud wedding party with people yelling and running through the halls at all hours of the night. Floorboards creaked, and the space felt very sterile, lacking any sort of warm decorative element. We additionally booked (and paid extra for) a room with three beds and were put in a room with only one bed, smushed on the third floor of the building with only tiny windows. Guests on the first and second floors have their own balconies outside, whereas we barely had a window to look out and felt extremely claustrophobic in our room- almost felt like being locked in a psychiatric ward. With a wedding taking place at the "resort" during our stay, we felt like any peacefulness and relaxation was disrupted by the event going on. Very unfortunate that we paid $260 for a night at this place. Wish we could get a refund. We checked out as early as we could. UPDATE: I received a call from the manager of the inn after leaving a negative review. Instead of apologizing for the negative experience my partner and I had celebrating our 1-year anniversary, she offered a multitude of excuses. I chose to book through Expedia (in order to receive cash back), and the manager stated that "booking through Expedia always puts guests on the third floor." How is that my fault/issue? She also stated that Expedia ripped me off and that the hotel only received $170 of the $260 I paid and the rest went to Expedia. Please note-- the nightly price on the inn's website was ALSO $260, so it seems to me that the hotel is upset they aren't receiving the full nightly price and Expedia is taking a large cut. Again, not my issue. She further stated that Kent Island Resort doesn't have any rooms with three beds and what we booked on Expedia doesn't exist. Not my problem-- it seems you should take this up with Expedia and not an unsatisfied guest, who has nothing to do with the issue. Maybe fixing the booking options on Expedia to accurately represent what your inn offers will prevent future disgruntled guests. The manager then further offered the excuse that "they have weddings every weekend and are booked all year" -- again, how is this my fault/issue? If you have weddings every weekend at your facility and this is causing non-wedding guests to have negative experiences, perhaps you should close your inn to the public on weekends, or do a better job or ensuring your wedding parties are not disrupting the stay for other guests. I was then told that COVID supply chain issues have caused the inn not to have rugs and decor, causing the sterile, lifeless decor. Again... not my issue. The manager then FINALLY offered apologies for our negative experience and offered to comp a room at a future stay. Thanks but no thanks-- the environment at this facility is not something we'd like to surround ourselves with again. All in all, if you are not planning to stay at Kent Island Resort as part of a wedding, I highly suggest you rethink staying here and book an Airbnb instead, where the host will actually care to make your experience a positive one. read more
