The young lady working the front --Janai--was so helpful and kind. An amazing asset to their organization. We discovered Alexander's has the best bread pudding that my friend and I had ever had. This is our first time to stay here at the Inn on the Creek and it is wonderful. We stayed in the Aiken room and it is a very cozy cute room. The clawed tub is very charming that will whisk you away back in time. You'll definitely get a great night's sleep on the bed because it is very comfortable. The sheets are made of unmatched quality are fit for a king and queen. We liked the sheets so much we actually bought a set for our king sized bed at home. We've had the pleasure of meeting Jason, Katie, and Neil the owner and they've made us feel like family while here. When you stay here you definitely have to check out the Shed restaurant and Alexander's. The food at the Shed is exceptional we did the sampler plate, burgers, and cheese curds. They were great. You'll also want to eat at Alexander's on the property at the Inn as the food is phenomenal. We did the beef tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection along with the crab cakes and autumn bread pudding! If you're not staying at the Inn on the Creek you're missing out. Breakfast in the morning was stellar as well the atmosphere and people have been great. We definitely tip our hats off to all of the staff we've seen, and those working behind the scenes. You're taste buds will thank you once you eat at The Shed and Alexander's as their food is to die for! If you've haven't booked a stay here you will be disappointed if you go anywhere else. OMG!!! I can't love this place enough!! I was spending the day in Salado and stopped in for lunch and I was so glad that I did! They weren't very busy when my friend and I arrived, so we were quickly seated. They let us pick where we wanted to sit so naturally we sat outside with a great river view. Our server was extremely friendly and made some great recommendations. I had the crabcakes and they were fantastic! There was plenty of crab in there and very little breading. The flavor was great and they were fried to perfection. My friend had the Kung Pao Cauliflower. WOW! What an unexpected treat! Full of flavor and a HUGE serving. The negative first- We booked here for our wedding Anniversary. I've seen this Inn several times and wanted to give it a try. So last minute we booked a room through a third party site. One thing we did not realize is we would not be staying at the main house that is actually on the creek. This was a disappointment but now we know better next time. Our room was Whistler.. this room is right on the Royal Street and was very cute and adorable. The wall AC did a great job keeping us cool. However the bed was so uncomfortable we got very little sleep during our stay. Not because the mattress itself was uncomfortable, but because the middle support under the bed was missing and the bed is bowing into the middle- (super easy fix hopefully). We kept rolling into the center of the bed waking up several times and very sore the next morning. Also the street traffic was very loud at times in our room. While our room wasn't comfortable, the beauty of the main Inn and the attention of the staff was amazing. They gave us a small champagne bottle for our Anniversary and delivered us packed box breakfasts since we were leaving early on the last day. We will definitely be booking again to experience the main manor. read more

Dreamy Spot! Loved this Inn. It's right on a little creek with several houses with rooms. We stayed across the street from the main house. The room was comfy, loved the claw foot tub. Rooms weren't very quiet however. Could hear the neighbors snoring thru the wall and every move they made. So I'm guessing they heard us also. Loved that you had an Alexa in your room and could ask her questions about the place. Loved the wooden hammock down by the creek! The hot tub is kind of tucked away and small, but nice. It was hard to find outlets to charge our phones and the coffee for the Keurig was a hodgepodge of crappy brands. Overall, we would stay again, but prob a bit pricey, standard room was $177. Decided to come to Salado for a mom-daughter getaway with my 17 year old. I wasn't sure what to expect because Covid has made so many changes in how things are run. The room was beautiful and quiet, overlooking the creek. We spent relaxing evenings sitting by the creek watching the deer come to feed. The breakfast picnic basket was beautifully done and they even added French press coffee. It was a fabulously relaxing 2 days - I loom forward to coming back when things are "normal". This is the best breakfast in central Texas. Hands down. We've been coming here for 5 years. I proposed to my wife here with the help of Will, the nicest hotelier you'll ever meet. We've been coming as a couple twice a year until we had our first kid. It is a romantic hideaway far from the stress and bustle of Austin. We kept coming for the Christmas stroll but were afraid that it wouldn't be very kid friendly. What B&B is? Much to our surprise, they opened their arms (literally) to our 18mo. He was allowed to run around the grounds and house as he explored all of their unique antiques. Tony danced with him and paraded him around to the other guests like a proud uncle. Will taught him the simple pleasures of feeding the ducks that call the inn home. Honestly, they welcomed Alex and kept him happy better than our own family. And that's saying a lot. tl;dr This place is great for couples looking for a quiet, romantic hideaway. We were forced to listen to our neighbors loud intoxicated conversations until late into the night. Sounded like they were actually IN our room. Unbelievable and beautiful stay! Went with an old friend from junior high and we had wonderful time. We stayed in bungalow 3 and it was perfect. Outstanding views of the creek from the back patio and we were greeted by several deer. This bungalow is next to the 3 tiered deck and rock walls near the creek perfect for meditation and relaxation. My friend did some yoga poses/headstands on the wall in the creek. Very cool! Sheets were luxurious, towels fluffy, robes available for use, air conditioner worked great, wonderful coffee, exceptional fudge on the table for us. I was very impressed! We arrived on Saturday and checked in just in time for guest appreciation which included a lovely glass of wine accompanied by a homemade pimento cheese ball and crackers....yum!! Checkout on Sunday but before we left, we had the included brunch which was nothing less than spectacular! I expected croissants and fruit but nothing as great as this! It was a full 3 course meal....salmon, candied bacon, cheeses, pastries and biscuits, pickled celery and carrots, jams and mustard s, that was just the first course! I had the eggs benedict and my friend had the crab omlet both were exceptional and then came dessert. Banana bread, chocolate mousse AND creme brulee inside of a perfect egg shell. My husband and I are planning a trip back as soon as we can get there! I can't wait to show him this hidden jewel. read more

My aunt recently organized my grandmother's birthday party, which took place at the Inn on the Creek. Even before we set foot on the property, the staff worked hard to accommodate our needs, which included the dietary restrictions of two vegans and a vegetarian. The place itself is charming, with big wrap-around porches full of rocking chairs and benches, and several friendly-but-aloof cats roam the premises. (I must say, I love places with roaming cats.) The waitstaff was friendly and fast, bringing us new drinks the moment we finished our old ones, and making sure to ask how each course of the meal tasted. And each course tasted pretty darn good. I got the feeling the chef wasn't accustomed to cooking tofu, but the texture wasn't bad. And the baked apple for dessert was delicious. The only weird thing about this place is the view of the creek referenced in its name. There's green grass all down the hill from the Inn, and then the little bubbling creek, but while it seems like the other side of the creek should also be nice, green, rolling hills, it's not. It looks more like pavement. So, that threw me off a little, but not enough to not come back. It was a nice place for an intimate family gathering, and it seems like it'd be nice for a quiet, romantic getaway as well. read more

I had the pleasure of staying here over Presidents' Day weekend. This is the perfect place to go for a weekend getaway. It was about a 45 minute drive from North Austin, but when you arrive it'll feel like you're much further away. My better half and I stayed in the Spradley Room, which made us feel like we went back in time a few decades with its vintage interior design and stained glass. It was exactly what we were looking for. One small detail that we noticed was that the bed sheets were incredibly comfortable. Luckily, you can purchase them! Our host, Tony, made us feel like we were at home from the minute we checked in to the moment we left. A huge benefit of this place is that Alexander's Distillery is right on the property. If you want some food, or you want to kick back with a drink and enjoy whatever sporting event is on TV then a very short walk is all you'll need to take. If you're like me and had never been to Salado, do yourself a favor and visit the local museum. The woman at the museum was extremely helpful and somehow knew exactly the type of places that we were looking to see during our stay. We will definitely be coming back to visit and there is no question that we'll be staying here again. read more

My fiance and I still rave about the Inn on the Creek every chance we get to anyone who will listen, and it's been over a year since our last visit. We're planning our wedding in New York, and much to the confusion of everyone involved, are planning on coming back to Texas for our honeymoon. The Inn on the Creek is our "special place". We stayed in an attic room and had breakfast in bed. It was incredible. I don't know how it is during the other months, but it is positively magical during the winter. A beautiful, scenic B&B. There are so many pros to this place! Beautiful views, beautiful antique & new decor & art, amazing views from balcony bar, breakfast in the morning, AMAZING sheets, & a super nice innkeeper. My only "con": the house is 130 years old so insulation for sound proofing wasn't probably done back then. You can hear people in the rooms next to you. It was loud enough to know what they were saying but weird to hear people while you are in the bathroom or laying in bed. Some of our party had some problems finding the locale, so make sure you look up the directions or call them since there is ongoing I-35 construction that will divert you. Did not stay at the inn, but came here for dinner and drinks at sunset. Their bar is nicely appointed and stylish with gorgeous views, and the dinner was select and delicious. The staff were all so polite. The owner and chef came out to check on us and our waiter was polite and had a great sense of humor. We chose this beautiful place for our annual girls trip. We absolutely loved the accommodations, the employees, and the town of Salado. Colleen and Tony are amazing and helped us learn about the town and things to do and exceeded our expectations. They truly love their jobs and enjoy the guests, which was evident by the way they spoiled us with full breakfasts each morning and too many details to list. The restaurant next door to the manor has delicious food. Also, the Village Spa had terrific facials and massages. We want to come back. We are a group of teachers/nurses/counselors. Absolutely LOVED our stay here! We stayed in the Tenney Room in the College Quarters building. Perfect space for two people with a queen bed, large sink area (plus for people like me who takeover a sink with toiletries, etc), and walk in shower (no bathtub). You have your own private entry and space which is great! The main house where you check in and eat breakfast is separate from where we stayed - about .3 miles away. Since it was cold we drove every time we went for breakfast, etc which was super easy but if you're wanting to be right there, I'd recommend staying in the Manor or Horton (I think) house. Where we stayed was closer to Main Street and other restaurants/shops. Super convenient no matter where you stay when at this b&b. The restaurant on site is delicious with very unique menu options. Also - after reserving our room, they texted me to confirm my reservation and ask if I needed anything for my stay. I loved this extra touch of service! Everyone we spoke with was wonderful and so helpful. Tony is the sweetest and super helpful!! Overall, it is such a cute place with so much character right on the creek! read more

BED BUGS!!! REALLY!!! I stayed in the main house on 9-20-19. I was away from home for only one night for rest and relaxation. I got up 3 times (more than normal) in the middle of the night feeling bug bites. My Fitbit showed a very disrupted sleep pattern that night. In the morning I saw several bites on the back of my arms; it was almost in rows down the back of my arms where they touched the bed and across the back of my neck. I assumed that it was mosquito bites from the evening before. After checking out the bites burned and became larger. The next day I had blisters. I had to be treated twice by 2 different doctors as the blistering hot bites continued for about 2 1/2 weeks. It was a miserable experience & I wished I had never taken the trip to the Inn on the Creek. The management would not admit they had a problem and they say they have not treated the room!! Wow!! I own 2 successful business and this is not a way to run a business. read more

The restaurant should fix how "Open Table" represents availability of tables for dinner. We were placed in the bar, as we had reserved on Open Table, but at a high-top and we were originally offered only drinks and appetizers. The bartender did give the hostess "permission" to allow dinner at the bar after she asked. Then a patron politely introduced himself to us and said that he had the whole bar reserved for a private party which the bartender said was incorrect. However, it was still very uncomfortable sitting there for all these reasons so after our cocktails, we had to go to another restaurant. read more
