    Woodsy. Really woodsy, 360 degrees!
    Rick P.

A SOLID 5 stars for this campground. You'll be in the Tahoe Nation Forest for starters. This campground is not in town. It's across highway 20, still Nevada City, and deep enough in the woods to hear a pin drop at your site. Lots of space between rigs, level compacted, manicured surfaces, nice new hookups, and exceptionally tidy grounds that are taken care of daily. Do you like pine cones? It's pine cone heaven. Hiking is everywhere from this site. 360 degrees of woods and trails. Most trails start out at kind of flat (some grade) and from there you can choose more intense routes. There happens to be a rail museum next door. The folks involved over there are in it 100% and it's worth your time to check that out. So much California history all around here. A special thanks to Erin, who without, this place wouldn't exist. Thank you for time time, effort, and resources you have put in to create this wonderful place! We will see you next time!

    Inside the yurt

We stayed in the large yurt this past week for three nights and had such an amazing time. The yurt was large and roomy for everyone and the beds were even heated. They provided a fan for during the day that helped circulate the air so it never got too hot. They had a pool, and a store for essentials. The lady in the store (I believe she was the owner), gave great suggestions on where to eat which were super helpful. The bathrooms were well kept and while I was surprised at the lack of showers and bathrooms, I never had a line waiting for them. I would really love to come back here, and I must say that it's probably the best campground I've stayed at so far in my 18 years of camping experience. I stay all over and nothing measures up to this place. The bathroom might have been a small hike up the hill which could be a problem for older campers, but it didn't bother me. What I'm saying is, definitely try out this campground, you won't regret it!

Had the best time at Inn Town campgrounds. Went for 1 day and ended up staying 3. Other than the rain, it was nice. There are enough trees to shade you from getting to wet. Our heating pad wasn't working, but we informed the office, and they were on it right away. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The common area is nice as well. No regrets, and I'll def be back. Prices are reasonable, too. Showers are clean, and I was able to wash/dry clothes too because I didn't plan on staying for 3 days.

I love this place! Clean bathrooms, cute cozy glamping tents. They have little fire pits you can rent. It's super close to great spots along the yuba river. They have a clubhouse type communal kitchen, we didn't use it but it looked nice. Also there is a little store with snacks and cans of wine etc. Very friendly staff. we had a LOVELY stay

Inn Town Campground is a cute little campground located in, Nevada City. Some friends and I went for a glamping girls' trip, and we had a lovely time. One of the best parts about Inn Town Campground is how clean the grounds are. The glamping tents were very clean, and you can tell that the staff does a great job with maintenance. To add, In each glamping tent, there was a fan, and lamps for electricity. In addition, there are outlets to charge your electronic devices. They also offer wi-fi. Furthermore, the campground offers many amenities. For example, they have an entire communal kitchen for guests to cook in. You can leave all of your cold items in their refrigerator and use their stove to cook on. Along with the kitchen, there is also a little general store, so if you forgot anything, this store most likely has the item you might need. In addition to this, they have a pool, showers, common area, and little picnic tables to eat on. To expand on the showers, the showers are a single stall with a lock. One of the showers, you are actually outside and can see the stars. I enjoyed how the showers are singles, rather than a communal locker room style. In addition, the campground is only a one mile walk into Nevada City. You can easily go into town for some shopping or dining. Overall, Inn Town Campground was a great place to stay! Thank you for having us!

    Hazardous air quality
    LeAnn S.

(Would give zero stars if we were able). I completely agree %100 with a previous reviewer. If you can't CHANGE your reservation after air quality reports are in the HAZARDOUS levels, then this is not the business you want to be spending your money at. This is what hazardous air quality guidelines are: "People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should remain indoors and keep activity levels low. Everyone else should avoid all physical activity outdoors." I had been keeping my eye on the air quality levels for two weeks prior to the morning I called. The levels drastically went from okay to "stay inside". We called two days prior because air quality was actually at hazardous levels, to change the date to later in the month. We wanted to move it to another date, (there were many later options open when I checked). Whoever I spoke to was inflexible and unwilling to work with me. They even said I never reached out, but I DID! We were going to make this a yearly trip in September (we came last September) but not anymore. They don't take a deposit when you make your reservation, they charge the whole amount and you don't get refunds, period, if you need to change your reservation, unlike most good campgrounds that only charge you the deposit. If they respond to this review it will be "we have a cancellation policy for a reason, we can't show preferential treatment to you, blah blah blah." Being rigid on your policy is exactly why you've lost this customer. With the customer service being horrible,we will never go back here or recommend them to anyone else.

    Glamping tents
    Peg S.

It's located sort of tucked behind an industrial area in Nevada City, with a mixture of RVs, glamping tents and campsites. It's got a nice family-friendly set up and very welcoming - the owner couple's young son checked us in. Our glamping tent #15 was charming, spotless, and opened up to a back patio with a view of trees. Our tent came with a dedicated picnic table and chairs (you can also rent propane and a fire pit). I think most of the 18 glamping tents are fairly close to the others, so you might not have the remoteness or privacy you crave. They've also got a small pool and the bathrooms/showers were well-maintained and clean. Inn Town is within walking distance to downtown Nevada City and close to nearby hikes and South Yuba River activities. We had a lovely time just hanging out on the back deck of our glamping tent and catching movies in their outdoor theater.

I can't believe I'm reading this comment from the place of business below! That's extremely bad customer services no matter what someone's experience was. In fact, Ahsha was very polite when leaving her experience on 4th of July. I was there this weekend. This is a weekend that had fireworks pass 9pm. The fireworks were loud, as expected. A lot louder than a group of people conversing over a camp fire. Keep in mind the musoc was evwn turned off! With stress and tensions already high due to the pandemic and the way of living has changed, especially for choldren, people get away to laugh! At no point over this weekend, was no "partying" taking place! We are all over 45 yrs old with small children! I was approached and harressed when walking back to my camp ground about being to loud! I about dropped my water bottle because I couldnt believe it was happening! No business should respond in this manner when someone leaves their experience! In reality, her comment could be helping your business so a group who wants to gather after 9 doesn't go! Or if a younger group in their 20's is looking for a good time they realize not to go to this convalescent campground

Ask the Community - Inn Town Campground

Do you have security or someone to look after guests' stuff while they are in town? Also, is it typically rainy in Mid October?

We have staff on-site 24hrs. We rarely have issues with stolen items, but we can’t realistically keep eyes on everyone’s things all at once, so it makes sense to keep valuables with you or locked up. I’ve never known tents or camping gear to go… Read more

Are there issues with bear at the camp site?

We rarely have bears at camp, but they are around. We recommend keeping your campsite clean and food stored in your vehicle when not being used.

Do you all sell hot coffee (ready to drink) at the camp store? Trying to decide if it's worth it for me to purchase a Coleman stove just to make it easier to get my cuppa joe first thing in the morning. :)

Hello, we don’t sell brewed coffee but we do have a fully stocked kitchen with both a kettle and coffee makers, plus stoves etc. You just need to bring the coffee. It’s open from 7:30 am to 9 pm. Thanks, Dan

Which is the best tent site that is flat and large enough for two 6 man tents?

Hello, T-46 is best for two large tents, however please keep in mind our site occupancy with is no more than 4 adults or 6 total, including kids. Thanks!

Is there cell phone service at the campground by chance?

Yes. I got good reception with AT&T and T Mobile phones. They also have free wifi, but it get slow in the evenings and weekends if the park is full.

Which is the best and most secluded glamping site?

Hi Jason, they are honestly all fairly close to each other. I stayed in #9 which had neighbors about 10 feet away on the left and maybe 15-20 on the right. I liked the setup of the first 6 cabins as they had larger ground space in front of them. I… Read more

Some of the spots in the front had lake access. The spots in the back have a lake view. You can still access the lake from the spots in the back, but its a pretty steep decent. The spots in the middle do not have lake access but some are pretty private and have lots of shade. Spot 8 has the most privacy and a good amount of distance from the neighbors. Spot 8 is also by a creek. This drowned out the noise other campers made in the evening. Carr Lake was very pretty. However, the main event is Feely lake. Access to Feely lake is between Spot 8 and 9. It's a larger lake with stunning views. A lot of backpackers were heading to Island Lake which is about a mile from the Carr Lake Campground. Due to the Covid related closures around the state, more people than usual are heading to the outdoors. This meant that this usually secluded area was not packed with day hikers and backpackers. The parking lot was at capacity by mid day Friday and people had to park on the side of the road as far as a half a mile away. I recommend that you stake your claim as early as Thursday or very early Friday.

Owned and operated by PG&E Getting There (the hard part): It's a good 30-40 minute drive north of Hwy 20 up Bowman Lake Road (Forest Road 18) to where it splits off to Forest Road 17. From there you will see a giant log with "CARR" spray painted in white with an arrow to the right (pretty awesome, I know). Now you're in for three miles of rocky dirt road... and I mean rough. A road full of rocks ranging from the size of grapefruits to dodge balls... so take is slow and steady. I will warn all sedans or low-clearance vehicles to be extremely careful. I saw many cars bottoming out (a mini cooper and prius among them). Towards the top of the road, you'll need to navigate around some big boulder-like rocks embedded in the road. Here is where most low-clearance vehicles gave up, pulled to the side and decided to walk the rest of the way. I have a two-wheel drive Honda CRV. I decided to give it a whirl and made it up to the parking lot by some miracle. Entry to the Campground: Surprisingly the parking lot was already packed at 4:30pm on a Friday! Who are all these people brave enough to make it up that road? I was impressed. I wasn't quite sure what to expect campsite wise considering it was 4th of July weekend and I was hoping to snag one of the first come, first served sites. I wasn't too optimistic, but I threw on my backpack and decided to take a look around. You want to head to the top of the trail (i.e. the road barricade). There you will see a wood bulletin board of sorts with the campsite rules and a place to leave your nightly fee ($15). You put your cash/check in an envelope and tear off the receipt at the bottom. Put the envelope in the slot on the green post and take the receipt to your campsite of choice. Clip it under your campsite number and voila! Note: The PG&E people are checking to make sure you've done this word to wise, but I have no idea if and how they would "cite" you if you didn't pay. It's kind of the honor system. Surveying the Campsites Right after you walk past the bulletin board there are a number of campsites up off to the right. Some of them were already taken by the time I got there, so I walked on down the road, but I heard from some other seasoned campers that one of the first campsites was one of the best out of the eleven. I continued down the road and saw some absolutely stunning ones! I was thrilled to see a few were empty and available. On 4th of July weekend!! I couldn't believe my luck! After I checked out all the real estate I decided on my beauty, campsite number 8... I think? Can't remember exactly. Also recommended is the very last campsite past the bathrooms (farthest from the parking lot). Totally spectacular lake view. I was jealous. Most of the campsites do not have lake access. You're behind some seriously thick brush with no paths to the lake, but I believe the campsites at the very beginning and the very end do have lake access. Something to keep in mind. Not a deal breaker at all though considering Feeley Lake is just a hop skip and jump up the road and even MORE beautiful! :) The bathrooms are clean, although to get there you have to cross part of a river... a stream really, but might be hard to do in the middle of the night unless you have one of the campsites nearest to the bathrooms. Think hopping from stone to stone or just wading through up to your ankles. The campsites grew fairly crowded as the day went on but I observed there were still two or three out of the eleven campsites that were unoccupied throughout the weekend (I was there Fri-Sun). The crowd level was just enough to feel safe and not too much so that you felt it was cramping your solitude time. If you do end up campsite-less for some unfortunate reason, disperse camping is allowed and I saw a ton of people do it along the Round Lake Trail and Crooked Lakes Trail. This is something I will do next time for sure, as the scenery gets even more spectacular the father down the trail you go, espectially up towards Penner Lake. I will definitely be back here as it is one of my new favorite spots in the Tahoe National Forest. I hope this is helpful! :)
