I have used Lavar Spa four times so far. My first visit was out of curiosity to see how the open…read moresystem colonic used at Lavar Spa compares to the closed system colonics I usually receive. If the goal is the flush poop out of my colon, then the open system works really well. However it is an exhausting experience. It feels like having an attack of explosive diarrhea every two or three minutes, whereas I can just relax and let it happen with the closed system while I am chatting to the therapist who has to be there the whole time. After the first session, Michael talked me into paying for more visits with a half price deal. When it is half price (making it similar to the Groupon price), it is a good deal and much cheaper than the closed system colonics (which usually cost more than $100 per visit). Personally, I would recommend closed system colonic hydrotherapy (as provided by Inner Garden Health) for anyone's first time because there is a therapist with you to help and explain everything. Only when you are confident enough to do everything yourself without a therapist present should you switch to the open system used by Lavar Spa. --- For those who want an explanation -- the closed system uses a fairly wide tube inserted into the rectum. Water is pumped in through that tube until you say stop or a maximum safe pressure is reached, and then the water pressure inside your colon pushes the poop out back through the same tube, going straight into the sewer system. No odour and no effort by you. The open system uses a narrow tube which continually sends a stream of warm water into the colon. After your body has sensed it has received enough, it causes you to expel all that water plus poop into an open drain which is located just underneath your butt. There is very little odour because the poop goes down the drain almost immediately. But your colon works to expel that water plus poop and it can be quite tiring after a while.

After 9 weeks of not being able to consistently drink water and keep it down, no bowl movements when I used to be regular I also got swollen legs in the past 2 weeks, full of psoriasis and truly unable to move. The care facility was very clean. Upon arrival Michael served us alkaline lemon slightly warm water and that was the first time I did not have a gag reaction, my stomach was actually happy. Then after a one hour explanation and consultation we started the session. I had someone with me to help me but it was easy getting on the machine. The water pressure is very gentle, I am super sensitive to everything and I can tell you it was an amazing experience. Getting rid of all that fecal matter after so long felt so good. My legs started improving almost right away, they were getting swollen even above the knees. I also noticed I had more energy, in fact after the sessions we went looking for supplies so we could also make alkaline water at home, Michael showed us how, and some special food to provide energy and I was able to walk a few blocks. I had to take breaks but it's more than I have been able to do in over 9 weeks. We paid for 2 appointments to start, it was a special deal for new clients, but I plan on making this my go to and stick to it because I feel out of all the stuff I have tried this is the winner. I do realize many people are warned that this is dangerous but to my personal experience all those reviews must be from pharma pushers who want to sell their drugs rather than let patients get to the root of the issue and truly heal. There they also have a machine to help swollen legs so I will try it if my legs don't go down this week. I am not telling my mother who has been wrecked over the years by pharma to try this, I think she will benefit so greatly she will feel younger and overall much less expensive than most other things. I don't use pharma as in 51 years it has only harmed it, being autistic my sensory system is very delicate and I usually over react to everything so I am impressed with this spa and how great it felt in there. just got an email from spa utopia that they'll be leaving the pan pacific hotel location after 20…read moreyears, with their last day of service on december 30, 2025. i took this as a sign to use up my gift cards and booked an rmt massage, and the confirmation included a few changes that are worth noting: there's now a $4 eco friendly fee per person, per visit gift cards are no longer accepted for rmt services they mentioned that after the downtown location closes, gift cards can still be used at their other two locations in north vancouver and langley. sharing this because a lot of people (myself included) used to buy the costco gift card packs or receive them as gifts. with the new policy and upcoming closure, you could end up stuck with gift cards you can't use for rmt treatments. something to keep in mind if you're planning a visit, gifting for christmas, or thinking about grabbing black friday gift card deals.

This location has facial, nails, massage and RMT massage as well. Area is huge with Roman style interior. There are several rooms for the different spa treatments. I especially enjoyed the facility. It is complete with a dry sauna, steam room, washroom and shower. The shower room has all the amenities - makeup remover, spray, mouthwash, feminine napkins, hair dryer, bath robes, towels, lockers, slippers - basically everything you need (except for a comb). You can literally spend the whole afternoon relaxing here. My masseuse Emiliana is the best so far. Her technique of kneading at the correct points makes the massage so relaxing. Her long gliding strokes were gradual, smooth and gentle. After my massage, we sat in the quiet lounge area for complimentary snacks and drinks. We were offered mocktail cranberry or orange mimosas too. It's such a treat!

Once you arrive, it is basically a shipping container that's been repurposed into a spa. There's a code you have to enter that's included in the welcome email. The staff greeted me and my partner warmly, and we were led to watch a 5 min instruction video. They explain the best way to use the spa pod - which includes a washroom/change area, shower, hot tub, hot rocks, cold tub, and sauna room. The spa pod section is actually outdoors, so there is no roof. It made for a cool experience as it was raining in November. I admit it got quite cold for me as the rain hit, but the hot tub was a nice haven. The washroom and shower section had towels and products for you to use, but I strongly advise that the product ingredients should be listed or provided somewhere in case anyone has allergies. I think that the products should all be unscented as well, to be safe for everyone. There was also no face wash, so I had to end up using the body soap on my face. My favourite section was the sauna with pink Himalayan salt rock walls. It was a hot sauna with light and air programming, to slowly dim lights overtime with music, until pitch black. This felt quite meditative and restorative. The lights slowly come back on after a while. There was also a hydration station, with hot and cold water taps, and peppermint tea provided for you. Nice touch! I don't know that I would visit again, if I had to pay for this experience, as I personally prefer a massage portion for full relaxation. It is also quite pricey for a 2 hour session. Nonetheless, this was a unique experience for me!

It's located on Granville Island and there are six open-roofed shipping containers that have been converted into private spa experiences for one to two people. You enter the shipping container area using an unlock code that is emailed to you. Upon check-in, we watched a 3min 4sec video where a jarring robot-voiced lady walked us through the circuit. (Change the voice actor! lol) There are six sections: 1. Change room (Four body towels, two exfoliating towels, body lotion, face serum, hair dryer, and hand soap is provided.) Then you go into the open-air spa area. 2. Shower / cascading rain (There's only one shower so in the fall/winter, it's pretty cold if you're not the one under the shower head! Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided here. There is no face wash.) 3. Hot tub (Just what you would expect of a hot tub--it was really nice soaking in this tub and relaxing. Large enough for two average-sized women to sit/lie fully horizontal.) 4. Hot stones (Heated stones that you can lie, sit, or stand on. It's hotter in the centre! Really liked lying down on these stones too but it was raining on my legs as I lied here.. too cold!) 5. Cold plunge tub (A very cold tub.. I could only put my calves in lol.. Good for the brave of heart but that wasn't me in the already 3°C weather outside.) 6. "Wellness pod" (This space is completely enclosed and has Himalayan salt walls, heated wooden floors, and is similar to a sauna without the steam. There's nowhere to sit so bring a towel to use as a pillow for your head or bum. There's a button outside to start the "wellness" sequence and it's a 30 to 40 minute sequence where the lights dim to complete darkness. What an interesting experience! I had to take several breaks as it was too hot for me.) Within your time slot, you can use any section however you like--your own DIY spa experience. It's completely private as well so you can wear whatever you like (or not wear). Water and tea are provided. Stay hydrated! There are chimes throughout to remind you to start the "Wellness Pod" and to remind you of the end of your session. That way you can fully unplug and unwind. They say to not bring any of your own products but I find that ridiculous. They don't provide any options for people with sensitive skin, nor do they list any ingredients for any of their products. As a sufferer of contact dermatitis, I got so paranoid that I took Claritin after the experience. When I got home I also re-washed my face to use my own tried and true skincare products. Also, bring your own hair brush if you don't want to be a tangled mess afterward!! None are provided. Overall, I really liked the privacy this spa provided. It let me and my partner have a lot of fun and we were able to be our silly selves. Two hours was overkill for me though, next time I would book less time! Although, I don't know if I would pay again at their listed price.
