Came here on a Friday night and it was pretty decent! Walking in was pretty early for me... around like 10ish pm. I order for drinks and automatically spent $40.00! The bartender was super nice and super quick. He literally was like stitch making 6 drinks and grabbing two beers. May not seem like a lot for others but for me, I loveeee a bartender who knows how to multitask and move efficiently. As the night went on, my friend and I spent about $110 on 5 shots, 1 drunk and two baskets of wings. The wings... they were pretty good. 1) you barely get any and 2) there was definitely not enough meat on the bones of the wings. Would I order again? This is one of my favorite bars now! I came in with friends for nu-metal night to win some Limo Bizkit tickets. The vibes are casual, and the bartender Mayra is so nice and super good at her job. The music was great! We tried the pizza as they had some for free at the back and it was really good! The pepperoni is better than the sausage. We made friends with some locals and had an awesome time drinking and talking. I will absolutely be back if I'm in the area or if there's another cool themed night. read more

Happy hour every day means that this is an easy 5 star review. Drinks at normal price are already reasonable for the area, but couple that with the 2-3 hour happy hours every day (half off drinks) and this is a great place to go for affordable bar food and alcohol. The place gets pretty busy as the night goes on so I'd recommend getting there around 6 on weekdays to grab a table and enjoy your half off drinks. read more

Here's a review that is as one-star as you can get: I walked into Innjoy last Wednesday night around 9:45 and sat down, expecting to order dinner and a drink. The place wasn't dead, but it was pretty quiet. I looked over at the bar, assuming that to order food, you had to wait for a server; I looked around and saw one server working the 4-5 tables that had patrons. I waited a few minutes and another group of three people sat down at a table near me. The server came over and offered the three of them menus, then went back to chat with the bartender. I waited another minute or two, and the server came back...to chat with the group of three. I walked out after sitting for just under ten minutes without service. Now, I won't be able to confirm that this is the case, but it was a little curious that the group of three were all white, and I'm a person of color. And I also can't confirm that I make more money than all three of these people combined and was willing to spend while sitting at Innjoy, while these other three people might only be coming in for a drink before leaving. We'll never know, right? I do know that the food at Pub Royale next door is really, really good. read more

Honest bar review: Since this was advertised as an "'80s/'90s music bar" we were expecting the most fun throwback dance scene the world had ever seen. After one too many discount jello shots (who knew pineapple jello was even a thing?) we suddenly realized ABBA's "Dancing Queen" was blasting and the crowd around us was significantly older than us... that was the point where we left running! read more

I highly rec'd this spot from a pure late night perspective. Do you like throwbacks? Do you like dancing? This is the spot for you. From that angle, this could be a 5/5. It's a really fun spot and is definitely in my rotation when I go out in UV and when I'm coming back to UV from other neighborhoods. While I love this place, I have to be somewhat objective. It has that bar "smell," it's a little tight, and, although, I haven't been, the food and service is at best pedestrian. However, I know this is what people look for. read more

I can't believe after all my visits here I haven't written a review for my favorite bar ever. If you're looking for a good time, look no further. This bar is always packed on weekends for good reason - you can stand around and talk, but won't get weird looks if you dance. The playlist is 90s/2000s hip hop and pop hits, which honestly, is the only thing anyone wants to listen to anyway. The drinks aren't too strong, but not watered down, and a decent price for the city. Oh, and did I mention $1 Jell-O shots? I repeat. Dollar. Jell-O. Shots. WOWZA. My friends and I were enjoying our night of cheap drinks and dancing, until my friend was groped by another individual. I approached security to let them know what happened and the response was "I didn't see it. It's a crowded bar, so things like that will happen". Which is an extremely dangerous response from someone who is supposed to maintain security. I brought this up to the manager on duty and upper management, and they both said since they didn't see it happen, they couldn't do anything about it. Even though several women saw it happen AND pointed out the individual who did it. The management was extremely dismissive and angry throughout the entire interaction. DO THE SAFETY DANCE "We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind Cuz your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, well they're No friends of mine!" This bar/club in Ukranian Village features a very lively scene on Fridays and Saturdays, but on other nights it's a roll of the dice. On one occasion, LeAnn P and I waited 60 minutes in line to gain entry, while another time it was under half an hour. The bouncer/doorman could be one of the (many) perps on Law & Order: SVU. He's friendly, but too much so. Unabashedly flirting with drunk girls half his age, he's got a decent sense of humor but something about him rubs me the wrong way.....probably because if you're a girl, he will literally rub you....the wrong way. Apart from Creeper McSkeezy, the bartenders are GREAT. One of them gave us free shots the night before Halloween and another was lightning fast in getting us our drinks amidst a thirsty weekend crowd. Patrons are mostly men & women in their mid 20's/early 30's, usually hammered and loads of fun to be around. Australian rugby players, vacationers from Ohio, local townies and everyone in between, a good mix. Music has been fantastic for the most part, especially on those Friday/Saturday nights when the DJ plays retro tunes (Whitney Houston, Prince, Men At Work, etc). The multiple TVs around the bar display the corresponding music videos, which makes me think of the college bars back at Purdue. *sigh* Those were the days. For all you single females out there, I'd advise against traveling alone due to the strong likelihood of being groped. Actually, even in a group of girls you might still experience some substantial butt-touching. And if that's your thing, great! Just a friendly heads up from someone who is firmly against Donald Trump's stance of "grabbing 'em right by the p*ssy." The bathroom at the back of the bar is laughably tiny, and every so often the DJ's annoying birthday announcements ('yo yo yo it's Maggie's b-day today lemme holla atchu girrrllll') results in some nasty speaker feedback that has me reaching for earplugs. The lighting setup is okay for dancing but it's nothing like the Neon Cactus in West Lafayette, Indiana. Prices for booze aren't the greatest ($6 cans, $8 mixed drinks), although given this place's popularity and proximity to Wicker Park it's to be expected. If you dig a loud, club-like environment, 80's/90's music, and a bustling dancefloor, Innjoy is the spot to be at on the weekend. Be prepared to wait in a long line outside, though. LADIES: if you ever feel uncomfortable while in here, just step outside for some fresh air with your gal pals before returning to the sweaty mob inside. Also, I'd recommend doing the safety dance. "I can't possibly be this old." That was the thought that played on repeat throughout my time at Innjoy. It started from the beginning and lasted to the end. As I walked in the bar, they were blasting Oingo Boingo. I was greeted by the bouncer and his jump off who whined, "If you know these songs, you must be *ooolllddd!!!*" I might have 'accidentally' tripped her. I walked in and was stunned. *Everyone* was old. Seriously. It was like The Twilight Zone. But, the thing is, I don't think they knew or thought they were old. They were drinking beer, 'whooo'ing' it up, twirling, singing along to the soundtrack from a John Hughes movie (any of them except Curly Sue), and acting like college kids... but they weren't. At all. And hadn't been for a very very very long time. And, that got me thinking. "I know (of) these songs. Am I this old? I can't be. I can't be! Where's my moisturizer??" Panicked, I opted for a beer and to watch the tv and drown out the noise. What did I see? More old! A very young Steve Carell was hosting America's Most X-Rated Home Videos. Seriously. Each one of the clips involved nudity. I didn't know that America ever showed dongs and boobies on TV. This ain't England! This is 'merica. What is going on? And, by the way, these weren't current, sculpted naked bodies. These were the bodies of the '80s: hairy, pasty and untoned. Yes, I had more reason to drink. By the time I heard 'Jesse's Girl' for the second time, I'd had enough. Perhaps the aim of this bar is to shame all those who don't share a graduation date with Snooki (which is, like, 6 years from now cuz you know that chick can't read) not to ever dare to go out again. Well, I decided to come back for a couple of reasons. 1. A good friend told me to give it another chance 2. One of the coolest yelpers (Matt L) was having a b'day celebration I was a bit tired, but I came anyway. The placed was packed with assclowns that did not want to get out of the way as you walked by. I even had an encounter with two guys guarding the bar, not allowing me to get by and get a drink. I wound up having to ask the guys if they would mind stepping out of the way so I could order, since they were talking about a whole lot of nothing. They looked at me as if I offended them and got out of my way, as soon as I put the AW stare on them. Music was great, as they were playing some of my old favorites from the 80s & 90s. The drink I got (can't remember the name, but it was a red concoction) was pretty much watered down. I was warned about getting the drink, but I didn't listen. I hate that I was a little tired, because I would have had more fun. I didn't stay long, but just wanted to make sure I said whats up to Matt L for his b'day! Innjoy, we are cool again. After all the Negative reviews lately I thought I would update mine. Specials during the week make for an reasonable night out. Food quality has always been there for bar food. With Art on the Walls from Local Artists you can expect something new every few months. Funny to hear the Wah Wah on Saturday Night crowd. Yeah it gets crowded, it is a smaller place and fills up. Apparently the 80's night is a big hit. and it attracts a wide variety of clientele. Unfortunately some of the Chad/Trixie Crowd have found our quiet corner of WP/UV but it makes for a fun evening if you can shoehorn yourself in. Don't like it, move along. They have stood the test of time (8 years) in a hood that is ever changing. Must be doing something right. read more

I almost laughed when a friend told me we were going to a "retro bar" last night.. To me- retro means the 60's or maybe the 70's. What I found was a bar playing all of my favorites from the 80's (yeah- retro baby!) The Innjoy is just that- a place to grab a cocktail and listen to the DJ's spinning all of your favs from the 80's. The music alone took me down memory lane and the bartenders were sure and swift. There is a large room in the front where you just might find yourself kicking it up to the tunes or watching some 80's videos and movies. My favorite spot? Out front on the patio to grab a bite to eat before they move every one in at 11:00. The highlight of my evening? When some 20 something asked me how I knew all the words to the songs. The bar scene doesn't really do it for me now that I'm (cough) old, but Innoy provides me with much joy. Pun intended, indeed. On my most recent visit we called ahead and let them know that our group of girls celebrating a bachelorette party would be stopping by. They reserved a booth for us, offered us complimentary shots, more complimentary shots and played awesome music. We danced our hearts out to the 80s and everyone (especially the bachelorette) had a fabulous time. I even made it out past 11pm, which is pretty late for this old woman. read more

I LOVE Mondays at Innjoy. Warm summer evenings are well spent on the outdoor patio eating 25 cent wings and drinking $2.50 Miller Highlifes. I love the Wiskey BBQ, my husband loves the Chinatown, and between us both we can get 20 wings with veggie sticks for a Lincoln bill. I have even come here by myself when no one else if available on Mondays - I can't cook anything this good for this cheap. That being said, I would not recommend sitting indoors at Innjoy; it is way to loud. Also, when the service is bad at Innjoy, it is BAD (like waiting for 20 minutes for a server to first come over). So just remember - go to Innjoy in the summer, when you can sit out doors, and go on Monday when you can eat your weight in wings. Otherwise, skip it and head straight over to Small Bar. read more

I was on a bar crawl going from Jack and Gingers to Happy Village, to Inn Joy, and final destination The Double Door with performance by Rich Medina. This was our last bar before Double Door. This place was pretty huge and the music was good. By this point we were starving and pretty much ordered every appetizer you could think of with our new found friends. This is a FUN place on 90's nights! Even if you're not the 'dancing' type, you'll be dancing here. They throw it back with songs that are sure to get ANYONE instantly in a fun mood, and yes, you will find yourself dancing and belting along the words to an Ace of Base song you can't believe you still know all the words to. The crowd has always been very friendly, despite how completely 'line-out-the-door' packed it gets sometimes. If you go early enough to get a table, you'll have a cocktail waitress, otherwise it can get kind of frustrating relying on bar service when its super crowded. 90's jams, happy crowd, dancing... What a different look the basement has versus the upstairs (and THANK GOODNESS that the bathrooms are in the upstairs portion!). I'm not sure why Innjoy would want to use this spot for parties. It has low ceilings, it's dark, the floor is gross and sticky....did I mention dark? We were served drinks in the basement. The wine list...don't bother. This is a spot to definitely stick to beer - perhaps it would be safer from the bottle. I visit my fair share of dive bars, and love some of them - grunginess and all. However, the basement at Innjoy was a depressing spot for a party. read more

After walking around Division St. for a LONG time, we walked by Innjoy and initially ignored it's potential due to long lines- boy were we wrong! Innjoy is a great space that seems to be overlooked by most people, but was a blast to be in. The bar has just enough space for a good group of people, and amazing service- there were three bars throughout the bar, two small ones (one in the front, one in the back (that one had $1 jelloshots)), and a full service bar in the middle. Each time I walked up to any bar, I got friendly service right away- you don't see that any many late night bars. If you are in Wicker Park, go to Innjoy for an unforgetable (forgetable) night with your friends. Perfect location to bar hop to or from here. And maybe you will get lucky and make it there on a battle between 80s & 90s music like we did! read more

Well I can't tell if the dude with a beard, glasses, flannel button downs, and lightly rolled Levi's is staring at me & too embarrassed to make a move, or plotting how to get me into his unmarked white van on the corner. I'm serious, how do you know? What would I tell myself if I made the mistake of hitting on the serial killer thinking he was coming onto me? If he didn't kill me first, I'd probably have to jump off a bridge. Innjoy is a pretty typical "Lincoln Park" bar - except that it's located in the Wicker Park / East Village area. The staff is friendly enough and the food is pretty decent, but it's character seems forced and it doesn't really move me. They do have a fantastic hamburger, however. They claim it is the 'best in Wicker Park' and I'm not sure I'm in a position to argue. On Tuesdays, they're 1/2 price; even better. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. We were there last night, a big group of us on the patio, for a birthday. What a horrible experience!!! They have a wing special so we decided to check it out, it took us over 1.45 hours to get our food- we're talking bar food, not gourmet meals. We had tons of people who ordered wings, 2 salads (that took that long, c'mon) and other stuff that shouldn't have taken almost 2 hours to get when we were the only table there. We ordered the fried shrimp, but they only had 1/2 lb at 6pm when they open at 5pm, this makes no sense. And when they came out, they were cold!! We complained, got a round of gross shots, and a discount on our bill but for the amount of time we sat and wasted, and on top of that getting horrible food, it was SO not worth it, especially with all the places around.. will never ever go back, don't waste your time. read more

Went here on a Monday and there were about 5 other people. We decided to get the $8 wing baskets and ended up waiting 45 minutes for our wings to finally come out. When they arrived they were simply average and slightly cold. The service was also generally slow for the amount of people inside. Additionally the 80s/90s theme wasn't bad but the music was so loud it was almost unbearable. Overall I wouldn't recommend it.
