Such a lovely cozy spot for a drink. When we popped in they were playing jazz and it was such a welcoming lsid back vibe. The bartenders were helpful and let us sample a handful of beers before we made our drink decision. We didn't stay long since we were just there waiting on table at Warlord. Great selections of beers and sours!

Darkly lit front bar with great local beer/cider menu, and nice small space in the back for live music. Saw London's Ibibio Sound Machine here this past fall and it was great! Doorman and bar staff were all great- I could have used this place here in 2014-17 when I lived in the neighborhood! Only negative is parking (if driving here) is very hard to find. Sleeping Village for the win!

Perhaps my favorite music room in the city of Chicago at the moment. An utterly unpretentious front room with outstanding libations. And a sonically sensational music room in the back, providing an intimate setting for live shows. Highly recommended.

Great place to go any night, went out on a Monday and it was karaoke night! Very fun!

Dog friendly bar and live venue spot, with a great beer garden. The staff is low key, the bands are bad arse, and the drinks are great. No food, so eat up elsewhere.

SV has a beautiful environment, incredible beer and spirit selection, and lovely staff. This is a hidden gem you won't want to miss! The patio is absolutely wonderful during the warmer months, and your dogs will love it, too!

Wow this place has it all: a classy, dimly lit indoor bar and lounge, a fun stringed lights outdoor patio, and an inner open concert venue! Grab a drink from the bar and proceed back to the show, where the acts were good the night I went. Prices on the show were pretty reasonable too, the drink prices were average. Just remember to bring your vaccination card as they are REQUIRING that for entry!

I thought it would be more like a brewery where one could spend some time hanging out and unwinding, a "third-place" kind of spot. When I showed up, I found that while there was a patio, it was the kind where you had to be seated by a host. Thus, unless you are at the bar, spontaneous conversations with strangers are less likely. With that said, Eris is a large brewpub with a full bar, including liquor and cocktails, as well as a robust food menu. Wanting only to try some ciders, I took a seat at the bar. I had the opportunity to try a 5-ounce pour each of the E-Phoria and the Van Van Mojo. Both were tasty. The E-Phoria was on the sweeter side, while the Van Van Mojo was less sweet (though not entirely dry) and unique with the addition of blueberries. Neither was mind-blowing, but both were enjoyable in their own right. The bar service was A-OK, especially considering it was a very quiet night. It was friendly and somewhat attentive. I appreciate that there are some closing-related duties that have to be done, and watching the two patrons at the bar like a hawk might make them nervous. Final Verdict: I think the trick with Eris is not to treat it as a "let me get a beverage and hang out" place, but rather a place for a sit-down meal and drinks. With that, I am hoping to return at some point with an empty stomach. However, to be 100% fair, I am not itching to break down the door and come back.

With that, my experience at Lake Effect Brewing Co. was fantastic. Though their beer menu isn't terrifically vast, they have a solid selection, with some options being delightfully creative! After trying a sample, I ordered a 5oz pour of a watermelon something (forgive me, I don't remember the exact name), a lovely brew that I greatly enjoyed sipping on their patio. Speaking of which, the patio is a surprisingly large and comfortable space. It's perfect for enjoying a cold one, especially when the weather is nice. Whether you're there on your own, with friends, or making brand new ones, the area is ideal! The only thing I'll mention is this: you know how, in a Chicago alley, you're never really alone thanks to the presence of certain 1-lb creatures. Because the patio borders an alleyway, you can't avoid seeing a couple of these guys running along the sides. As for the service, I really appreciated how friendly and welcoming the owner and his colleague were. There was also no problem trying a sample, which may be common in such places, but was nonetheless appreciated. Finally, in a world where everything costs an arm and a leg, I appreciate that their prices are reasonable. One of the things I love about local breweries is that there is always something new to try. With this, plus the friendly, comfy, and low-key vibe, I will absolutely be adding Lake Effect to the rotation of places where I am a regular.

It's been a boiling hot summer in Chicago this year, but somehow the four of us lucked into a mild August evening to drink beer in its outdoor patio. This time I enjoyed drinking Midnight in London, an amber ale with a spot of Earl Grey tea. Lake Effect has a hookup with Chicago Pickle across the street, so sure enough we enjoyed sandwiches along with the beer. The place is dog-friendly and friendly period - please give Lake Effect a try at the new location!

Mac and cheese with mushrooms and bacon sounds great. But when we got it, it not only didn't look good it was just weird and they really missed the boat with it. They added blue cheese to it for some reason which threw off the taste, had raw tomatoes on it which added to an already way too liquidy sauce, and the pasta was way overdone. It's a shame because their pimento mac with breadcrumb crust is great. I feel like they just tried to get too fancy with that one and also forgot that if you add piping hot sauce to done pasta, it keeps cooking it.
