The millwork / finishing / painting done by his team were meticulous, and we ended up 2 beautiful new apartments - a triplex with 2 bedrooms 2 baths, and a duplex with 2 bedrooms / 2 baths. Shafayet was always responsive to our inquiries / requests and provided solutions to the many problems that were encountered in a project of this size. He also coordinated well with the architect and third party vendors that were involved in this project too. His bid for the job was very reasonable compared to the bids of 4 other general contractors. Great value overall!

I have worked with Gaudioso Contracting on several successful projects. One of the first jobs we worked on together was when Anthony Gaudioso's team rebuilt the street facade of a row house in BedStuy, Brooklyn, for me. His guys first got to the bottom of what had been done incorrectly by the previous cheapo contractor. They started by removing the other guys' mistakes. Anthony's guys then rebuilt the 3-storey street facade and stoop, created a fanlight over the entry door, ran appropriate wiring for new sconces that would flank the parlor-level entry way and illuminate the garden level entrance. They made sure to waterproof it all thoroughly. When the exterior was watertight, they then repaired the fairly extensive inside water damage. The finish facade, which had been approved by public hearing before the Landmarks Preservation Commission, was going to be a faux-brownstone stucco. When the client had purchased the row house, the street facade was covered in a multicolored, faux flagstone slathered on top of the wood building structure. The new finish facade required a new application of stucco as a faux-brownstone. Gaudioso Contracting provided several different color samples of the stucco finish (matched to other brownstones on the block), and as well as, color samples of alternative window colors, and entry door colors, for the Landmarks inspector's approval. As part of the stucco application process, they built up the elegant window and entry door surround details to satisfy the Landmarks Preservation Commission's inspector. They also brought in Adler Windows to replace all the water-damaged, crumbling, wooden double-hung windows with new thermal paned, powder coated, aluminum windows with appropriate brick molding to satisfy the Landmarks inspector. Gaudioso Contracting also built, painted and installed a replica of the neighboring brownstone's cornice which Landmarks approved. Their work was terrific. Each phase of the work moved smoothly and had expertly skilled craftsmen who specialized in the particular aspect of the job in hand at the time. They were on time and on budget. I was delighted with their reliability, responsiveness and professionalism.

I hired Minar for my Brooklyn apartment's gut renovation - after firing the first contractor who…read moreslipped both in work quality and timing. To pick up where someone else left off is always more challenging. Minar has many years of expertise so he was (thankfully) up for this challenge. He recognized the technical aspects of working in an older building - how the bathroom walls needed to be built out, the tile formats, how the plumbing worked, how the apartment walls could be refinished to look modern, installing custom size entry and closet doors etc. He maintained a good working relationship so I was happy to run all my ideas by him. He brings a good sense of design so it was complementary to my taste as well. He gave me a timeline and delivered on time and within budget. After much frustration owing to the snafu with the first contractor, I really enjoyed working with Minar and more importantly, I was always up to date on the progress. I highly recommend Minar's company for your next renovation project. He will get it done and do it really well.

A complete nightmare of a hire! Minar comes off as nice and knowledgeable at first, until the…read morework starts, then the nightmare begins. Minar prefers to deal in cash (red flag), and he tries to avoid actual contracts. He will try to change the price on you and leave things off contract so they can be added in/upcharged later. Classic slimy contractor move. Although we did not pay in cash, and did have a contract, he still tried to cut corners and the workers had to be watched closely to make sure they did what was contracted. The problem here is Minar drops his team off in the morning and leaves them to do whatever, no supervision at all. Although nice, they barely spoke any English and it was very difficult to communicate any issues with them. Work had to be stopped consistently to ensure they were doing what they were supposed to be doing. Scope of work: We had RH repair exterior balconies, replace stucco bottoms and install tiles on top. Work was supposed to be completed in two weeks, and it took TWO MONTHS, and they still hadn't finished by that point. Besides the absolute mess they left daily, they consistently damaged things as they went along. A few highlights: - Damaged an interior door handle/lock - Clogged a roof trough gutter with a cloth they threw into it that resulted in a leak in the building/one of the apartments during heavy rainfall, damaging the interior walls as well as some furniture - One of the workers spilled an entire 5 gallon bucket of grout water from the top floor hallway/stairwell and it leaked down two floors below leaving grout residue on the tile floors - Didn't protect the exterior of the building while doing cement work and cement ended up everywhere, facade, windows etc. They tried scrubbing it off but it just smeared everywhere We ended up firing them 3/4 of the way through the job and not paying the full amount bc they clearly were not capable of doing the work contracted. We had them pull up tile twice because they had no idea how to properly install it. We eventually hired tilers who knew what they were doing, and felt such relief that it was done properly. We're not at all happy with how the balconies turned out. We truly regret hiring RH Construction and would highly recommend anyone look elsewhere for any construction needs.
