My hair was f-ed up and I was traumatized by hair salons in NYC. Minolo saved my hair with an innovative technique that he came up with out of necessity. I usually get annoyed with hair dressers who chop off all my hair because they're lazy and because they try to make me talk (usually to sell themselves...). Minolo had an authentic, real and empathetic personality that I have never encountered in this business. He kept the length of my hair so well and it looks even better. I have never been happier walking out of a salon. Some extra feedback: I live 5hrs away in Brooklyn, NY and stayed upstate for the weekend (as I usually do every few months). I found this place by chance on my way to Guitar Center. I have a few Paul Mitchell products and I like them over the several I've tried (esp. "Super Skinny" serum for my frizzy and wavy/curly hair) - so I decided to walk in. I would definitely come back for Minolo, he treated me like a human being and he is very skilled at what he does. I decided to come here after work, the day before a wedding, and was blessed. When I first came in, I was a walk-in, there was an hour and fifteen minute wait. It wasn't a problem because I needed my nails done anyway. My stylist absolutely saved my life. I have curl hair that frizzes up in humidity and my stylist knew exactly what I wanted. He thinned out the bottom layer to make it lighter and now my curls looks so much more healthy. We ended up taking at least 6-8 inches which was a little scary but my stylist put me at ease. He even blow dried my hair and got it to a point straighter than any stylist ever has. I have never been more excited to schedule another hair appointment and cannot wait. My hair is usually up in a ponytail or bun because it is too much to handle after awhile but now I can have my hair down and have not been more happy. read more

I asked her to do beachy waves in my hair for style even though my hair is straight and she nailed it ! I never buy product and I actually did this time because I liked what she did so much. Ohhhh what a good decision it was. Kariann removed my DIY red-brown hair color and replaced it (via hair styling magic) with a beautiful new color that is so much more natural looking and flattering. I've lived with a haircut from this place for about a week and wouldn't recommend going here unless you want your hair to look like something from the 1990s. Minolo cut my hair. He was nice, but did a lot of talking instead of a lot of doing. He was insistent on cutting my hair a certain way, even though I told him I wanted just a trim and long layers. That's not what I got. He insisted I needed more volume at the top and proceeded to take out all the thickness from my hair. I have long, thick hair. Or at least, I did. I am now living with this ugly haircut that I can't wear any other way than either down or in a ponytail. Any thickness or shine is gone from my hair. For $60 plus tip, listen to your client. And for the love of God, wash their damn hair after your gross hands have been in there for an hour. The "salon" looked like a Polly Pocket playset and none of the photos were current. Don't go here. Spend your money elsewhere. I'll be spending the next year growing out this horrible haircut. read more

I live in southwest VT and I've tried so many salons in my area and had bad experiences. After an especially terrible experience in Manchester, I decided I had to bite the bullet and drive to Albany for my haircuts from now on. I have very short hair and a bad haircut really shows. Innovations had good reviews so I made an appointment. Angela cut my hair and I loved her. She did an amazing job, she was super nice and having a conversation with her wasn't painful like a lot of other hair stylists. I love my haircut and I will be seeing her regularly from now on. Great hair cut. Right after I got the cut I went to chipotle and they ran out of beef, so I waited for 2minutes. The chipotle cashier said it was free since I had to wait on the meat. Was the cashier razzle dazzled by my fresh cut? Quite possibly. What I do know is that this has only happened to me 100% of the time after going here. read more

I just got back home from my first visit to Innovations with stylist Monolo. I highly recommend anybody with curly hair to go and see him for a life changing cut. He really took his time with me and I expected a much higher bill than what it was. He took everything into account before shaping my hair, like silhouette, eyes, and cheekbones. I found this place on Yelp and had such a great experience here. I grew up in Guilderland but am living in NJ and was coming home for a wedding so I decided to touch up my ombré and get a trim. I am not usually the easiest person for a hair dresser, I come in with a bunch of pictures of what I want and what exactly I don't want and am verrrrry particular. I had Ally and she was amazing. She took her time to make sure my ombré/balayage/hair cut was exactly what I wanted all while chatting and keeping me company during the long visit. She even styled my hair to look great for the wedding. In total was about $130 which is pretty standard. This place is a hidden gem and definitely deserves 5 stars! read more

I came here on a whim. I'm from NYC so I wasn't familiar with the area but I had a great experience. I was take care of right away. The staff was very friendly. I have thick, long, wavy hair and I have never gotten a gentler yet fantastic blow out. My hair stylist took her time (her name started with K But I don't remember her name, sorry) and sectioned my hair, used products to tame my frizz. Most stylists I've been to rave about how long and nice my hair is and when it's time to blow out, they get annoyed at the work they have to do. But not here, my stylist was patient and not rough at all. Also, the wash was great!! Price was more than affordable, they also had a new customer special! I recently moved back to Guilderland after living in NYC and as a curly-haired girl, was scared to switch salons. I found Innovations on Yelp and it's truly wonderful. Everyone there is super nice and friendly, and all the customers seemed to be happy with their new looks. I made an appointment last week with Angela for cut and color and she did an awesome job. I had long curly hair and decided to go with a dramatic cut, shortening to an inverted bob. The color looks great and I love the cut! I had her style it curly and she gave me some great tips about products and how to style, but didn't push me to buy anything. As any curly girl will know, cuts can look super different when blown straight, so she told me to call back if anything looked off after a few days. I did straighten it today and noticed that a few of the layers looked a little long and uneven when straight. Since Angela wasn't in today, Maureen was able to fit me in and did a wonderful job cleaning things up. My hair stylist Sasha was so phenomenal that every member of my family has a card of hers now, actually I practically hand them out to strangers. I went from a natural dirty brown with terrible purple dye that I did at home to a grey platinum blond that I had been dying for but could never achieve, in one sitting. Now I did have healthy hair and the process did take a while, but truly I have never left a salon in my LIFE feeling as beautiful as I did the day I discovered Sasha at Innovations. Aside from Yelp, another thing stood out to me after looking at their website was their 5 Star Consultation promise. I am always afraid to speak up during my salon visits so when I saw that Innovations actually makes it a point to do consultations before the haircut, I felt more comfortable giving them a try. I've never had a stylist give suggestions or ask me what I like and don't like about my hair and I think that really helped me do something different with my hair! Francesco was my stylist and he was so helpful and understanding with my goal. He also suggested products to use as well, but did not push them on me.
