There were two staff on site--one working with another client and the manicurist who did my nails. The space was clean and calm, and the staff were courteous and professional. A business is in an older house with the entrance in the back. When you enter, there was no one to greet me or check me in. I walked up to the front where people were being serviced, and it took quite a while for anyone to say even a word to me. Very awkward. Unfortunately, was also one of the worst pedicures I have ever had. I paid extra for upgraded pedicure, and my heels were still dry and flaky. Very little attention was paid in comparison to other pedicures I have had. My nails were allowed to dry just a short time and she put oil on them and said they were fine to go. And her rush to get me out my left big toe polish ended up ruined. Definitely not relaxing and not a good outcome. I won't be coming back. I'll just fix my nails myself. read more

I reserved online for gel manicure and pedicure. I came in exactly 10:00 am on my appointment and everything is ready. Zoe just told me to sit down and she started working on my feet. Total time was 1:35mins for $80. Zoe is very thorough. My toenails are short and possibly hard to file. But, she did it wonderfully. I chose two different nail polishes for my hands and feet. For feet I chose number 19 Green. As for my hands, i chose this changing color. When ut's cool, it's glittery green. But when it's warm, it's gliterry gold. After got back from the salon, I realized the manicure are very detailed compared to the pedicure. Overall, Zoe did a wonderful job on making my nails pretty. I liked the shop from the moment I walked in because it was quiet, clean and my appointment started on time. Booking was very easy & the cost was reasonable - I got a pedicure and a fill with a design, so I was already happy at the start of my visit, and I was incredibly pleased at the end of my appointment. I was especially impressed with my technician, Ivy. She was pleasant, efficient, and detail-oriented. I showed her a picture and she executed what I wanted exactly. I'd only booked this appointment because I didn't want to go too long with out getting a full, but I was nervous because going to a new nail tech can be a harrowing experience. Ivy's skill and service calmed my fears. When I first went here I had an appointment as I was told to do so. I get there and end up waiting over an hour past my appointment time to get my nails done. I was getting ANC which already take an hour. The staff took longer because they took a young college girl who broke one nail and then mid way asks for a whole new set. I was furious and still tipped well. I had to go back a second time because I am close by and my other nail place to far. I don't drive!!! I didn't have an appointment and they were not busy but the area where they do the nails was still dusty and dirty. And the tools used for nails were not clean. Although the owner is nice & friendly, when I go to a nail salon that is the bare minimum & should be the standard. One thing I am consistent with as part of my self care routine is my nails. I've been getting my nails done for over 25 years, and I'm in a nail salon at least once a month for a manicure & pedicure. I made the owner aware of my issues with finding a reputable & consistent nail salon. I will spend any amount of money within reason to have QUALITY nail service. I went into the nail spa after texting the owner what I wanted and services I looked for. What is normally a hour and a half service time wise for me (I wanted to soak off my original nails (it was filed down by the nail technician first mistake) and have ANC/dip powder with acrylic extensions ended up being over 3 and a half hours long. (Second mistake) On average when I have this done, my nails cost $55-$75 depending on the extensive work done on the designs. I sent the tech a picture of what I wanted on my nails. She assured me that she could do the style and design I was looking for but recommended that I get the "Gel-X" service. Okay, so she explains how it would heal and protect my nail bed (which is now thin and cracked from the constant filing and drilling being done on my nails instead of soaking off the previous acrylic and tip extensions ‍). This was okay with me as it appeared to be a little bit more expensive than what I would normally pay for my nails, but I'm receptive to trying a recommendation from a licensed nail professional and I'm in a salon that would know best. The nail technician tells me that the "large" set is going to be $100 (start price) but as I'm on Colorful Nails website it state that the service would be $90. She calls over the owner's wife and showed her where it said it was $90 for the long Gel-X and the lady apologized and said yes, it's $90, she thought I was getting "longer" nails. (Third mistake). I decided to still go through with having my nails done after being reassured that the results I'm looking for (to not have my nails lifting up or in need of any type of "repair" for a minimum of three weeks). I don't know of any woman who has to get her nails professionally done EVERY week but here I am writing this review on Colorful Nails after only TWO days. I went in on a Friday, and by Saturday afternoon I was sending a message on Instagram to the nail technician. By Saturday night, one of my nails completely lifted off after making dinner. Sunday morning I texted the owner what happened and a picture. There was no apology, no empathy provided. Once I arrived for the repair, sweet woman Ivy sat me down and rightfully so she didn't know what to do because she was not the original nail technician who did the service. I had to explain to her the best I could what was done on my nails initially and she offered to "remove the polish and paint over" my nails. Absolutely not. Now I'm internally livid. If I came in and contacted the owner because my nails literally are lifting up and one fell completely off and I had to reattach it with nail glue I ran to Walmart to get, why would I walk back in here expecting to have just the "polish" fixed? I want my nails to be repaired and not "patched up" Not only did I have to ask for them to replace the two nails that came off, (yes, by day 3 two nails were off completely), I wasn't offered anything as far as compensation, adjustments for the poor service or experience. Today is Day 8 since I FIRST walked into the salon to get my nails done. It's been 4 days since I walked in to get it REPAIRED and guess what? Those same two nails are either off or lifting already again. When I went in for the repair, I walked out with my nail designs not even matching the other hand, and the polish around my nail bed being all over the place. Wait for the kicker. I literally spent $140.00 to have this service done. I was charged $120 (the owner wife was originally trying to charge $130 but after I showed her their website listed a different price she came down $10) and left a $20 tip. Yes. $140. In all my 39 years of age of life I've NEVER spent over $90 on just a manicure. Period. I'm from NYC and been living in Albany 8 years. I've never spent that much on my nails in NYC, or anywhere else. I now have to look for another nail salon to go to to soak off the other 8 nails left on my hands and pay for them to get done again. How is this fair after spending $140 7 days ago on the TOP service and product that this establishment recommended and is selling? I now need to go and find another salon to have my nails done in under a week after having them done the 1st time around? Absurd and will not recommend. read more

I got ANC nails done here and it was a terrible experience. While the owner seemed nice and the place fairly clean, the tech cut 6 of my cuticles and acted like I was being a baby when I even mentioned that she cut me. Not to mention it took over a week for them to heal. She also filed the top of my nails down so far that when i got the anc removed a few weeks later they were left weak and flimsy. I made an appointment for dip manicure and colorful pedicure. The place is nice,quiet and clean. I decided to add tips on and on the website it clearly states $5 more for tips. I paid a $20 deposit so only owed $50 plus the extra $5 so $55. When time to pay I was told $65 because of tips, I showed them the site where it states $5 and the lady kept saying no. She then said she would give me a "deal" for $60 I decided to pay it but decided to not leave the tip I planned because I don't like when a business tries to get over. Eric and Bin, super friendly and helpful. They only accept with appointment however I did not know it. I came at 10 am and luckily they accepted to help me. It took almost 90 minutes. I just did cuticle cut and powder dip polish with design on my original nail. I paid $60 for it. Went to get an acrylic set for my birthday and they turned out horrible. The nail tech was opinionated on how I should get my nails and how long they should be. Not once did she tell me she couldn't do the design that I wanted but told me multiple times that she had 30 years of experience. The glue she used on the crystals was old and crusty. Told me that if they fell to come in and she will replace them because she knew the glue and the application was not good. I called the manager to get them redone because I read that there is a no refund policy. After hours of going back and forth (because they couldnt fit me in until later next week) he asked me to my surprise if I wanted a refund and I said yes. But then goes on to say that they don't do refunds. The issue was never resolved and I had ugly nails for my birthday. It took 4 hours to get back to me after you told me you would look into it. I made a complaint when I got home right after my appointment, the 30th as you can also see. I told you multiple times that I could not get them done next week. I also said that I was college student and I had class the times you've suggested. Each class is around $1000 so tell me if you would skip class for a $60 set that ruined your entire weekend. And the purpose of getting my nails done was for my birthday so what would be the purpose of getting them done after? For a nail salon, it should be an environment that makes your clients be comfortable enough to say if something was wrong. After telling me things like "if you wanted them longer I wouldn't do them" or "youre a student you dont need them that long"(and it was a shorter medium length). That environment doesnt seem that comfortable. I know the nail tech spent a lot of time of service (1hr) which I appreciate but the nails that I got was not the nails that I wanted and paid for. I also gave her a tip, if she couldn't get the job done then she should've told me instead of wasting both our times. I would also like to point out that my appointment started a half hour late and i had to miss my class. I specifically booked the appointment 2 hours before so I can have time for class. For you to call me back after 8 months (since that's important) because of this review says all lot. You talk a lot about resolution but couldn't help me at the time being. But when your reputation is affected you are ready to help. read more

Finally found a nail salon that truly values their customers. I had an amazing manicure and pedicure comparable to the nail salons in NYC and Long Island. Bin really listened to what I asked for in a manicure and pedicure and the results were perfect. The salon is chic and very clean. The owner, Eric, who is originally from Boston, was welcoming in a genuine way, and really seemed to care that the clients had a positive experience. Our first mani pedi as residents of Albany and first since COVID. Having just moved here from NYC we knew that nail salons would be different. They are for a few reasons, one you need an appointment. Although that will be the case everywhere one would think from now on and 2. The setting, less hectic but the quality and choice was certainly at an urban level. Leon got an amazing mani/pedi with Kiley (FYI she doesn't work Sunday's if you want to see her). Not Only did she provide an excellent treatment she was friendly and helpful. As newbies to albany she had resources for kayaking, massage and hair braiding, all of which I need. I saw Vin, the owner of the salon (with husband Eric). This place is spotless, Eric created attractive and functional plexi shields for the practitioners, well ventilated and lit. They have almost 200 polish choices and are efficient but not rushed. We booked our next appointments already. I want to give them a 5 but I really missed the feee, quickie, back massage I used to get in my NYc nail salon. Hint, hint! read more
