She was first taken to another hospital, where the plan was to put her under anesthesia to reset her shoulder. Because she had a life-threatening reaction to anesthesia about 10 years ago, when she flatlined during surgery, we were extremely hesitant. Combined with the circumstances there, we decided to take her to Fairfax Hospital. That decision led us to Dr. Titus Park and his incredible team, and we are so thankful it did. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Park had a clear plan that did not involve anesthesia. He immediately put our entire family at ease with his calm confidence, compassion, and professionalism. My daughter was in excruciating pain--a true 10 out of 10. She asked one of the nurses if she would pray with her, and without hesitation, she kindly did. That simple act of kindness meant more than words can express. When Dr. Park successfully put her shoulder back into place, the relief was immediate. My daughter looked him in the eyes and said, "I could just kiss you!" It was such a heartfelt expression of gratitude because her pain was instantly gone. What also stood out was Dr. Park's wonderful bedside manner. Even in the middle of a stressful situation, he found a way to make us smile. He asked my two daughters, now both in their late 30s, which one was my favorite and which one had been the cutest baby. They both immediately raised their hands and looked at me, and I just turned my head. We all burst into laughter. It was exactly the kind of lighthearted moment our family needed. Dr. Park and his entire team turned an unbearable situation into a bearable one through their exceptional medical care, kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for both their patient and her family. We will never forget the care we received. Thank you, Dr. Park and your amazing team, for giving our daughter relief and giving our family peace of mind. We are forever grateful.

Unfortunately, the ER experience is no better; the priority is clearly "patient turnover" rather than "patient wellness." Every visit follows the same script: Urgent Care dismisses us with ineffective antibiotics for a supposed ear infection, and the ER rushes to discharge us without investigating the underlying cause. The staff is increasingly irritable, and the doctors seem to rely on snap judgments rather than diagnostic testing. It feels like the Hippocratic Oath has been traded for the bottom line. We aren't here for fun; we are here for help that we aren't receiving.

I ultimately needed 17 stitches. What could have been a frightening and overwhelming experience instead became something I'll always remember for the compassion and professionalism shown to me. Every single person we encountered treated me with patience, kindness, and urgency. I never once felt like "just another patient." I felt cared for. PA Patel, who stitched my hand, was extraordinary. He was meticulous and deliberate in his work, but what stood out even more was how he treated me and my wife throughout the procedure. He explained everything as he went, answered our questions without hesitation, and maintained a calm, steady presence that gave us confidence and reassurance. You could tell he takes pride in doing things the right way -- not just clinically, but humanely. And Nurse Nick brought something just as important -- warmth and humanity. She was upbeat and genuinely kind, taking the time to connect with me as a person. That kind of personal care means almost as much as the medical expertise. We walked into the ER anxious and in distress. We left feeling grateful. To the team at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington: thank you for treating me not just effectively, but compassionately. Your professionalism and heart made all the difference.

Cons: no live wait time on website, registration staff who truly DGAF, dirty waiting area Wait time: 2.3 hours just to get into an exam room (I was balled up in a corner in pain and begged for a blanket because it was cold inside and 50 degrees outside. They triaged me, took blood and urine and had me remain in the waiting room. Once I actually got into an exam room, things started to move more quickly. Care: Dr. Sidara was actually the saving grace here. He was incredibly nice and thorough, spoke to me with respect and care, and worked to address my issues as soon as possible. He was even able to pull info from past doctors visits, which included a slight ear infection and double checked my ears while I was there to make sure he didn't miss anything further. I won't go into all of the details of what he discovered, but had he not caught one thing in particular, I might still be in excruciating pain. What I didn't like is the fact that I was in an exam room for maybe 30 minutes, then they took me to get a CT. And once I finished the CT, I was not taken back to the exam room, but taken to the "results waiting" room. There, my IV hung in front of me, without being connected, for about an hour. When all of my results were back, the doctor returned to me and told me all the findings and the plan moving forward. I do wish they would have kept me overnight so that I could continue to be monitored and receive pain management medication, but I understand that's not necessarily typical treatment for what I was experiencing. Shortly after the doctor checked in with me, my discharge papers were drafted, and I was on my way out. I was there from 3:50-9 p.m. ish.

With multiple children, a small bruise is what triggers a CPS no-notice visit? Incompetent staff will let children scream in agony recovering from anesthesia, but don't show up with a normal kid with bruises! Might get a CPS visit that will stick with you unnecessarily! Anybody know a good lawyer for a lawsuit? Oh, let's not forget we're waiting for his appointment to check his vision and ensure he doesn't need glasses like his older sibling. But go ahead, call CPS. What could improve? Hire competent staff, learn to communicate with the family, and maybe rethink HCA priorities and values. But what's that to the bottom line of a for-profit health system cesspool? Edit: So since you guys inserted an IV and left a bruise on my kid from the IV, does that mean I can sue for malpractice? The CPS lady that visited called it a BS report and said they get a ton of BS calls from this location (HCA), so I used a bit of sarcasm, but seriously... check your kid over for bruises before you go here and if your kiddo does have a bruise, ask if anyone called CPS before you leave the location!

We arrived by medical transport and, from the moment we entered the Emergency Department, we were greeted with kindness, professionalism, and compassion. The security staff welcomed us warmly, and the receptionist greeted us with a smile that immediately put us at ease during a very stressful time. I would also like to recognize the registration representative who assisted us during our visit. Even while handling the administrative and insurance aspects of our care, she was patient, kind, professional, and reassuring. Families arriving at an emergency department are often worried and overwhelmed, and her willingness to help made us feel supported from the start. To our surprise, there was virtually no wait time. We were brought into a room almost immediately, and the quality of care we received was outstanding. Nurses Jasmine, RN, and Susana, RN, were compassionate, attentive, and professional throughout the visit. They treated my elderly mother with dignity, respect, and patience, ensuring she was comfortable every step of the way. We were especially grateful for Dr. David Kruse. Dr. Kruse was thorough, knowledgeable, kind and genuinely compassionate. He carefully reviewed my mother's extensive medical history, recent surgeries, rehabilitation stay, and prior hospitalizations. He performed a comprehensive examination and ensured every necessary precaution was taken to rule out infection, pneumonia, and other serious concerns. His calm demeanor, attention to detail, and concern for my mother's well-being gave us tremendous peace of mind. At the end he even brought her a syringe and distilled water so she can get hydrated through the feeding tube. In addition, my phone's battery was dead. He personally took my phone to charge it. Not many doctors nowadays do these acts of kindness. I wish doctors are taught more and more compassion, kindness and empathy. Bed side manners are extremely important not only in the hospital setting but also in the emergency room and doctor's offices. I would also like to thank the two radiology professionals who came directly to my mother's room to perform her X-rays. They treated her with kindness and respect throughout the process. My mother has endured months of hospitalizations, surgery, rehabilitation, and numerous medical appointments, and moving an elderly patient can be difficult and uncomfortable. Their gentle, patient approach was another example of the excellent care we experienced during our visit. Before we left, Derrick kindly assisted my mother into a wheelchair with patience, professionalism, and genuine care. His kindness did not go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated. I would also like to mention that this was not our first visit to the Reston Hospital Emergency Department. Over the years, and especially during my mother's recent health challenges, we have experienced emergency room visits involving long waits, extended delays, and admissions where we remained in the Emergency Department for hours awaiting placement or a shift change. We understand that hospitals are busy and that emergency departments face tremendous demands every day. What made this visit different was the remarkable efficiency, teamwork, professionalism, and compassion shown by Dr. Kruse and the entire team caring for my mother. From arrival to discharge, every person we encountered treated us with respect, empathy, and genuine concern. They saw not just a patient, but an elderly mother and a daughter doing everything possible to care for her at home. Over the past several months, my mother has endured multiple emergency room visits, surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. As her daughter and caregiver, there have been many moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and worry. During this visit, the staff gave us something we desperately needed: reassurance, confidence, and hope. My mother is a retired teacher who has lived in Fairfax County for more than 40 years. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to educating students, volunteering, and serving this community. Seeing her receive such thoughtful care meant more to our family than words can express. Dr. Kruse and his team have earned a loyal supporter in our family. Thank you to Dr. David Kruse, Jasmine, RN, Susana, RN, Derrick, the radiology staff, the registration representative, the receptionist, the security staff, and the entire Reston Hospital Emergency Department team for providing outstanding care during a difficult time. Your professionalism, kindness, and dedication will not be forgotten. With heartfelt gratitude, PK Fairfax County Resident and Daughter of a Grateful Patient

The tank ran out of oxygen within hours of the patient being admitted to Vierra rehab, after which the patient's condition deteriorated significantly, including multiple organ failures and ultimately death. Additional concerns during the patient's care included the development of pressure ulcers within just 12 days of hospitalization, the appropriateness of certain medications (opioids) administered given the patient's medical condition and age, and repeated instances meal deliveries containing high-sugar foods despite the patient's diabetes status and daily requests from family members to address dietary restrictions. These and other concerns regarding the patient's care are being documented and will be submitted to the appropriate state agencies for review and further investigation.
