My review is based on my outpatient surgery experience here. I had to come here for my pre op appointment and I had great interactions with the nurses here. I was seen immediately upon my arrival, I was asked very thorough questions regarding my health history and had my blood drawn in preparation for my surgery. The day of my procedure, it went very smoothly. The nurses that took care of me were very kind and helpful. The anesthesiologist was very helpful and explained everything to me and helped to ease my anxiety about having surgery. Once my procedure was complete, the staff took care of me until I was discharged. I had a great experience and grateful for the wonderful staff here. Billing, well, that's health care in America lol. I'm just glad the procedure went well. I also appreciate that this hospital does not charge for parking, that is a rarity these days! read more

Worse care ever. Went to the ER for slight dizziness. Got Ct Scan, but said I need an MRI, and said I had to be admitted for an MRI. Took 24 hours to get an MRI.... 3 hours and counting for someone to provide the MRI results. Everyone here passes the buck. Ask to see a doctor, no one comes, Will never come here again for treatment. I would avoid this place like the plague!!! And the food worker just ask me what I wanted for breakfast.... My family and I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Emergency Department team at Reston Hospital for the exceptional care my mother recently received. We arrived by medical transport and, from the moment we entered the Emergency Department, we were greeted with kindness, professionalism, and compassion. The security staff welcomed us warmly, and the receptionist greeted us with a smile that immediately put us at ease during a very stressful time. I would also like to recognize the registration representative who assisted us during our visit. Even while handling the administrative and insurance aspects of our care, she was patient, kind, professional, and reassuring. Families arriving at an emergency department are often worried and overwhelmed, and her willingness to help made us feel supported from the start. To our surprise, there was virtually no wait time. We were brought into a room almost immediately, and the quality of care we received was outstanding. Nurses Jasmine, RN, and Susana, RN, were compassionate, attentive, and professional throughout the visit. They treated my elderly mother with dignity, respect, and patience, ensuring she was comfortable every step of the way. We were especially grateful for Dr. David Kruse. Dr. Kruse was thorough, knowledgeable, kind and genuinely compassionate. He carefully reviewed my mother's extensive medical history, recent surgeries, rehabilitation stay, and prior hospitalizations. He performed a comprehensive examination and ensured every necessary precaution was taken to rule out infection, pneumonia, and other serious concerns. His calm demeanor, attention to detail, and concern for my mother's well-being gave us tremendous peace of mind. At the end he even brought her a syringe and distilled water so she can get hydrated through the feeding tube. In addition, my phone's battery was dead. He personally took my phone to charge it. Not many doctors nowadays do these acts of kindness. I wish doctors are taught more and more compassion, kindness and empathy. Bed side manners are extremely important not only in the hospital setting but also in the emergency room and doctor's offices. I would also like to thank the two radiology professionals who came directly to my mother's room to perform her X-rays. They treated her with kindness and respect throughout the process. My mother has endured months of hospitalizations, surgery, rehabilitation, and numerous medical appointments, and moving an elderly patient can be difficult and uncomfortable. Their gentle, patient approach was another example of the excellent care we experienced during our visit. Before we left, Derrick kindly assisted my mother into a wheelchair with patience, professionalism, and genuine care. His kindness did not go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated. I would also like to mention that this was not our first visit to the Reston Hospital Emergency Department. Over the years, and especially during my mother's recent health challenges, we have experienced emergency room visits involving long waits, extended delays, and admissions where we remained in the Emergency Department for hours awaiting placement or a shift change. We understand that hospitals are busy and that emergency departments face tremendous demands every day. What made this visit different was the remarkable efficiency, teamwork, professionalism, and compassion shown by Dr. Kruse and the entire team caring for my mother. From arrival to discharge, every person we encountered treated us with respect, empathy, and genuine concern. They saw not just a patient, but an elderly mother and a daughter doing everything possible to care for her at home. Over the past several months, my mother has endured multiple emergency room visits, surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. As her daughter and caregiver, there have been many moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and worry. During this visit, the staff gave us something we desperately needed: reassurance, confidence, and hope. My mother is a retired teacher who has lived in Fairfax County for more than 40 years. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to educating students, volunteering, and serving this community. Seeing her receive such thoughtful care meant more to our family than words can express. I went to the Tyson's ER near me - was pointless bc they said I had to go to their bigger ER in Reston. It was an absolute shitshow- the wait was egregious, even for an ER. I was told I'd get an MRI - I went in the morning and didn't get it done until evening and I got my results told vaguely closer to midnight. I told them I was tired of waiting around but they insisted I needed immediate surgery. I was on the fence bc who goes from nothing to full blown surgery right away when you're conscious and otherwise fine right? I'm glad though, and grateful I received surgery. But the few days of admission was nothing short of terrible. One guy who takes blood in the morning was awful- he has no business doing it. I've never had anyone poke around that much and make it that excruciating before. And I'm pretty tolerant of pain. Some nurses were evasive. But please take note- NURSE DYLAN IS A GODSEND. He's very sweet. Very agile and helpful. That's the only part I liked about my stay there. read more

I am laying in the hospital right now suffering from level 8 to 10 pain due in part from back surgery. The surgeon is fantastic they friendly worker Bees are great. My complaint is about the lead nurse who is in capable of empathy for patients. Yes I can only compare her to someone that says throw mub on a compound fracture that is belldinh heavy. Tonight she is work the 4th floor, I would jump out the window if I could. So in short this place is slightly better than sentara in woodbridge. read more

I came here to get tested for a uti infection, took about an hour cost $1,000 I also came in here with the measles and only got treated with ibuprofen they refused to give me fluids and I cried for water the entire time I was there and got about 4 oz. Was overall not a good experience read more

This hospital is a crazy chaotic shit show. The ER is good, but the Progressive Care Unit PCU should be avoided at all costs. A few of the nurses are very good but they are young and inexperienced. The attending doctors, especially Dr. Andrew Ahn, are total assholes. It's like the Wild West of hospitals. You'd better go in with a friend or family to stay with you or you could be forgotten and end up dead. The nurses are overloaded, the doctors don't show up especially on weekend rounds - forget it - and are pompous, rude and abrasive. It's like the ghetto hospital of Fairfax county. Go to a different hospital. This place is horrible and unless you have someone running interference for you, you could end up worse than you came in. read more

Normally, I don't review doctors and my health care experiences. However, yesterday when I noticed a Yelp friend's awful experience at this hospital, I got to looking at recent reviews. I was both surprised and saddened to see so many who had such awful experiences. This prompted me to write of my experience. In May 2023 on a Sunday night, I felt out of sorts. When I got up from the desk chair, I promptly passed out. When I came to, my husband helped me up. Then he called our health care provider and was told he should call 911. The paramedics came after not long at all. They took me to the ER. My husband got into the car and brought along my health insurance info. Every nurse that helped me in the ER was friendly and caring. They took care of me when I was nauseous and made sure to clean my face after I got sick. I was given a CAT scan since I had passed out. All was well. I didn't fall far and it was a carpeted floor. Eventually, I was taken to the ICU where I stayed for 2 nights. It turned out that my doctor had been giving me too much of a medication for a problem I had and thus I was overdosed. That also caused a chronic condition I had to act up. Once in the ICU, the nursing staff was very attentive. I admit to not getting much of any sleep while there due to someone coming in to either take blood or give me medication. The goal was to get my readings into normal range. Sometimes a phlebotomist would show up to take blood. Most of the phlebotomists were nice---a few barely said a word. My arms ended up looking like a pin cushion when I went home. I was so touched during my stay when there was a shift change. The nurse who was going off duty brought the nurse who was taking over into my room. The outgoing nurse told the arriving nurse that I was "sweet". How nice! The only misstep occurred on the day I was due to be discharged. I was told that they were moving me to a regular hospital room as they needed the ICU bed. So...they moved me and I had to wait for the health plan doctor to come around and discharge me. He came by and said he would do the paperwork. Turned out he left and forgot about my discharge papers. My husband alerted a nurse who got in touch with the doctor. Then, finally! I got to go home. For those who mentioned hospital food---Well...it was nothing to write home about. Basically, it was edible and I wasn't restricted to what I could eat. Although, I do know that those with certain conditions are on more restrictive diets. In the future, I do hope that others will have better experiences here. read more

I started having chest pains on July 4 and my husband took me to Reston Hospital Center. After receiving the results of blood tests I was admitted and told that I needed a heart catheterization the following day to diagnose my problem. As monitoring in the regular ward was not going to be frequent enough, I was transferred to the ICU where I received stellar care. Every nurse and doctor treated me with kindness and respect. My condition was diagnosed and I remained in the ICU for two days, then was transferred to the Progressive Care unit and finally discharged on Monday. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the treatment and care that I received. read more

Lady at reception is completely incompetent and has literally no clue what she is doing. My mother was transferred from an emergency room 15 minutes away. I arrived around the same time, reception repeatedly told me that she had not arrived yet for almost 2 hours even though she was in a room the entire time. She made no effort to look into the situation further. This was from 3:30AM - 5AM and there was no one else waiting. It took my mother calling my phone and telling me herself what room she was in to finally convince reception that she was in fact in the building and to let me visit her room. If you experience a similar situation, please do not hold back and do not show reception any respect. read more

Reporting elevator outage for Pavilion #1 1850 Town center Parkway, Reston, VA. When is the mgt (hospital board of directors) of building 1850 going to get the main elevators in the tower 1 (Pavilion 1) fixed or replaced. No access from main entrance. You spend the money to put a big banner that the entrance is around back at other side of the building where there is no shelter in the case of rain/inclement weather, but you don't have the money to fix or replace the elevators? Really. Mentioned this to our doctor there and they said it's been like this for more than a year. - seriously, that long....let alone our doctor will be relocating elsewhere. I was in the hospital in JAN. 2025 and had a terrible experience. First I had several tests and no one ever told me the results. A pulmonary doctor shows up, I had already seen him in an office visit, did not care to see him at the hospital. I was in a room freezing, ac was too high, no one did anything to fix it. The nurses were ok, some of them...They never told me what the diagnosis was. So I am saying is Reston is one of the worst hospitals in the area. No one should ever go there. read more

My wife and I could not have asked for a better birth experience. We had our first baby girl here and after needing to opt for a c section, which is very scary, every single one of these nurses treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. 24 hours a day we got the same level of dedication from every single person. I just delivered at Reston Hospital Center and I could not be more grateful for the staff that work here. The team in Labor and Delivery was kind, caring, flexible, and welcoming. I was able to walk around and feel comfortable. Kate, our LandD nurse, was absolutely outstanding. She made sure I was taken care of and supported throughout the process. I was so grateful to have her as part of my birthing experience! In Postpardum I had more amazing nurses and supporters. A few of them consist of Fatima, Susan, Trey, and Loya. This team of nurses were the most kind and supportive group I could have asked for. They truly answered every question of mine, they were attentive and supportive. The team and the hospital is a hole in postpartum is so secure and just makes you feel so great about where you are. I am so grateful for all the experiences I've had at the hospital. This even consists of the classes led by Lauren and Kimberly. The hospital is outstanding and we're so grateful for this experience with them. read more

Don't ever go to Reston Hosptial Center emergency center in Tysons Corner. I was there only for a few hours and walked out with a $22K bill. They charged $8500 for CT scan, which was negative. They also missed an infection then later gave me a shot, and my doctor said I didn't even have any infection. read more

I was brought here by the ambulance after having a serious accident on a nearby highway. Compared to my last visit to Reston Hospital Center when I was here for an inpatient surgery, everything went fantastic. Maybe it was because I came in by ambulance, but I doubt it, because the ER staff, doctors, nurses, and everyone I encountered knew what they were doing and treated me with the utmost respect. Respect. I was conscious when I came in and I knew what was going on and I could answer their questions, but anytime I had questions, they bent over backwards to answer any questions I had and any concerns I had. Even the students who put in some of my IVs, they also were wonderful and very caring. I have a new respect for Reston Hospital Center after my prior experience not being the best. For those who need to come here in an emergency or are brought here by ambulance, you should not worry about the care you will receive here because they are wonderful. Even after I was released and went home, I called the hospital 2 Days later to speak to an ER doctor about a question I had about one of the results from one of my tests and he was gracious to look at my results and answer the questions that I had. The 2 stars is being generous and only because most of the nurses are wonderful as are the case managers. HOWEVER, I would give 0 or a half star for competence by many. In March, the nursing station managed to lose my dad's cancer medication due to a "change in their medication drawer" system. One would assume lost essential medication would be a concern; nope. If I hadn't asked for the medication to be returned, I would have never known it was lost and that he had not received said med for several days. Despite calling and writing the complaints person, we never received any formal apology or acknowledgment or any correspondence regarding our case. It also took them over 4 or 5 days to finally acknowledge his cough was actually pneumonia. Shifting to my 90 year old mom, in late May she had a fall. It took them 5 days to figure out how to contact the hospital where she had heart surgery to get her records (I had given them the name of the hospital, rough year, and yet they kept asking me (her daughter) for her records. I wasn't part of her care back then! And told them they would have a better and faster chance of getting her med records than me.). Three weeks later (this week), she fell again. After spending an inordinate amount of time in the ER, they admitted her. It then took them 3 days to order a MRI (? she fell and hit her head - why didn't they order it sooner?!). They again asked for her history and records - which they should have had from May? I finally had to interrupt and say that within the last 3 weeks, she did not have a pacemaker or any major surgery. It took them forever to order the MRI and even after the order was submitted, she is STILL waiting for them to do the MRI. They also said, for 2 days, that her heart rate was too high to be released. I was there twice when they did the blood pressure and heart measures and her heart rate was in the high 50s. MY heart rate is higher! So while the rooms are large and the beds comfortable, perhaps that's because they like to keep their patients longer than necessary. read more

I get it that things take a while, but communication has been poor. Not sure about the rest of this hospital but the progressive care unit is ridiculously uncaring as far as family goes. I live across the country and my father was admitted to their hospital. I've tried multiple times to get ahold of him, telling him his name and room number and how he cannot answer the phone on his own due to his late stage dementia...i was hung up on immediately at first (for no reason, i assumed it was a mistake...but wait), called back and was put on hold for 30 minutes before being hung up again. I called back again and asked them what the hell was going on, only to be given a lecture about how I should not speak to her that way. So then I really let her know how I feel. Bottom line, the people answering the phones in the Progressive Care Unit at Reston have no sympathy or empathy for family members. They make it nearly impossible to have contact with them if you are out of state and they are unable to answer the phone themselves. I recommend that you find another hospital besides this one. I wanted to update my review. My mother @ 85 years young with two broke shoulders and A-fib did have her right shoulder reconstructed. Originally Reston Hospital wanted to release her before any surgery on her right shoulder. Crazy right. Then make an appointment to see a surgeon on our own and worry about transporting her. My family was in shock. A few days after writing a review they found a surgeon. Thank god for Adam Lorenzetti in Ashburn. I also wanted to thank Dr. Ashley and Dr. Kahn. The nursing staff ran their ass off taking care of all patients. Thank you, Tamisha (T) which was a hustler, Sharifa, Amy, Delma, Barsha, Abena and Candace especially. They had smiling faces which was a great help to my mother. Surgical nurse Colleen, Kelly. The anesthesiologist Storm. I wish I had him when having my 4 back surgery's. The cafeteria food was healthy and lots of choices. The occupational therapist, Colleen (rock star) and Mark were awesome. Manjeet needs training on his bedside manner. I had surgery there and it was ok. Despite being cut open and in pain, they gave me a hard time about pain killers ... treated me like I was a drug addict. STAY AWAY FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM. DO NOT GO THERE EVER!!! I had to go there for a painful UTI on a Friday night, and they charged me 2000.00 for a urine test. It is very concerning the lack of care at this facility. If it wasn't for the fact that I completely trust my drs, I would have been terrified to be at this hospital. One was on her phone the entire time, the only time she wasn't, was when she took me to the OR, then immediately pulled out her phone again. I was a pincushion, not kept up with surgery times and ignored after surgery. I called for the nurse to come over numerous times and literally acted like she didn't hear me, until I screamed. The few times I hahad surgeries here have been very disappointing experiences and because of that, I will be avoiding going back to this hospital at all cost. UPDATE: I received a letter from the VP Ruth Loncar, exposing that it is perfectly acceptable to ignore patients so that they can be on their phones because it's their need to communicate... but not communicate with their patients apparently... read more

Reston Hospital Center - 4 attempts and extreme bruising, looks like fun right... smh - Hospitals Near Me - Reston, Virginia

My mom recently got a procedure done here. I took her early morning around 7:30AM. We did valet in pavilion 2 ($6 per vehicle). The registration process could be done electronically using their tablets. Then the last two pages were done on paper. I love that hospitals are saving some paper by doing things electronically. If you want a hard copy, you can request that as well. Since we got there early, my mom's 9AM procedure of implantable port began right on time. The nurses and doctors were excellent. While waiting, I grabbed some coffee at the cafe at this pavilion. Would like to give a special thanks to Ken (nurse) who was extra sweet, to get me right after my mom's procedure was done. He made sure everything was prefect by the time we left. Side Note- They have a complimentary shuttle if you need to go to the different buildings. This hospital has increased in size over the years, so use that shuttle if needed. ~ read more

I stay here after getting ankle surgery. And the 1st shift staff don't care. They make you wait and wait just to use bathroom or get help. Then the food is horrible they give you raw meat. Don't recommend getting grilled chicken or any Kind of meat both times I had the chicken was Raw. And there response was call the kitchen and have them make you somthing else. The only staff I like was my overnight staff they where very respectful and accommodating. I know due to the times maybe that why 1st shift is different but it shouldn't matter. Went in a few weeks ago with extreme aching pains all over my body and 105 degree fever. They did not take me back to a room for six hours. The moment we got there they told us they would be giving me pain relief which didn't happen until the sixth hour. Turns out I had an extreme kidney infection- which no one thought to explain to me. The nurse taking care of me was a very nice gentleman and understanding. He tried his best to explain the paperwork another nurse had left for me without saying anything. So- I left feeling very unsure and upset, having been forced to sit in excruciating pain for hours after begging for help. So- I absolutely do not recommend this hospital's emergency center if you're having an actual emergency. (I also witnessed a patient with a sore ankle who was advised to use ice and go home get much more in depth care and treatment than I did.) read more
