I worked with Allison for the better part of three months and she was terrific. She was calm and very detailed in what she was doing and made sure I understood what she was trying to accomplish. She was very patient throughout the process and worked with me answering my concerns and questions. She was very solicitous in insuring any pain was minimal and concerned about the entire process for me. Gradually, I have recovered and have regained almost all of my ankle function thanks to Allison. The entire staff was very pleasant and created a friendly atmosphere which added to a healing environment. We all seemed to be working towards the same goal. Dr. Robert Cowley was instrumental to my pre-operation rehabilitation and have me a sense of purpose and progression right after my injury by planning out what the next 6 weeks of my "prehab" would look like. He was also cognizant of how many visits my insurance would cover and made sure not to front load appointments so i would still have enough visits for after my surgery too. Too often other medical professionals are just trying to squeeze every dollar from you and this was very refreshing to have from Dr. Cowley. I'm 5 weeks post-op now and my mobility has come back very quickly thanks to my prehab and Dr. Crowley!

The Doc said it was one of the worst tears he had ever seen. The therapists were conscientious of this and approached with extreme care. I initially started out three visits per week. The PT eased me to the pain and not through it as prescribed by the Doc. Over time my motions were normalizing. The PTs kept testing my movement abilities, and again not pushing. I was "handled with care". Eventually I reduced my number of visits to 2 visits a week then every other week. I am back to normal, or at least 99%. I would like to thank Nancy for having such a great group of PTs who assisted me, Petya, Kim, Courtney, Jacob, Allison and Nancy herself. I don't recommend injuries to anyone but if you must be injured and you require rehab, Ascend comes highly recommended.

Even when there are multiple folks there at the same time, I feel like I get the attention I need in terms of observations of what I'm doing, adjustments needed, and instruction on what to do next. I've gone to several PT practices over the years for different issues, and they are among the best I've experienced. I've made very rapid progress thanks to the care I've received, and have no doubt I will reach 100% in the near future if I finish my regimen at Ascend. First off, let me start by saying I am already familiar with Inova Physical Therapy because my son had to have PT for a pulled hamstring, and we used the Fairfax/Prosperity location. The PTs were great with him and he especially really liked Josh, but the office manager was consistently so rude to clients & staff that it was enough to make me not want to go back there ever again, even though it is a bigger facility (side-note: she's so awful that she is negatively referenced in their location's reviews several times)! Now for the awesome Annandale location: This is my first experience with the Annandale location and I absolutely love it! The facility is clean, and being located inside the Audrey Moore Rec Center gives them the luxury of access to the gym as well as the swimming pool for aquatic therapy. There is plenty of parking and plenty to do; whether you're by yourself or someone comes with you. The actual PT room itself is very intimate & there are never more than 2 clients overlapping at a time. I have had the pleasure of doing my PT with Vanessa, Katie, and Spencer, all of whom are wonderful. Vanessa did my initial evaluation and could not have been any sweeter; Katie is extremely knowledgeable in the different modalities of therapy & Spencer is highly trained to do dry-needling. All three of them are genuinely so kind, caring, and considerate. They really take their time to get to know you, your situation, and your specific needs. They tailor everything they do, every step of the way and constantly modify to ensure you're reaching your goals at a comfortable, pain-free pace. From beginning to end, they are very thorough and clearly explain everything to you, giving you an understanding of what's going on and how it will affect your body and its healing. I could not be more pleased with my progress so far and am always happy to go see them. I really feel so good when I leave; both mentally & physically. This time I stayed within the Inova system and looked for five stars among the Inova PT centers on Yelp. Inova PT Annandale was the only one with five stars. It is a very small facility but the staff is well equipped, educated, professional, respectful, with a great sense of humor. Spencer and Katie encourage their patients while learning PT. Dominique is always welcoming and helps with scheduling, insurance, and payments. I appreciate receiving a personal home program from the therapists at each visit. After ten visits twice a week, Spencer believes I am doing well enough to just come once a week and continue with the home program.

I worked with Alec for about half a year and he really helped me work on getting my range of motion and strength! He asked me questions and conducted range of motion tests to create a plan personalized for me. I saw him once or twice a week and then had the companion app at home to log and do my rehab exercises and he even gave me a theraband to use at home. And after each session, they also have water or snacks for you! Overall, I made some good progress and had a great time here. The staff is all very friendly, especially their dog! The space is clean and decorated with encouraging words, a variety of machines, and theres always good music playing to get you in the zone. I would definitely recommend going here.

Previously, I was told by doctors in the area that it was due to frozen shoulder but he realized that this was not the case and recommended that I get an MRI. He was able to convince the doctors to book an MRI at the time. Turns out he was right and doctors were able to find a tumor and I am getting treated now. If Stephen was not so persistent in the level of care, I would have brushed it off and this tumor could have been a bigger problem. He is a superstar!

My doctor suggested that I try physical therapy to help improve my symptoms. I was very skeptical at first - after all I went from being a very active person to not even being able to walk for 5 minutes without symptoms. But, I gave it a shot. Now, after 9 months or so of PT, I'm back to walking 10k steps without symptoms and am getting back on my Peloton bike after years of not being able to!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the POTS program to anyone suffering with this illness. Sarah is kind, patient, upbeat, understanding, and a constant cheerleader. She pushes you but not TOO hard that you want to stop. I started seeing results in a couple of months after doing the protocol. Today, I graduated. I've never heard of dry needling until coming here but it was exactly what I needed. I usually don't like getting poked but it's really not bad cuz the needles are super thin and don't go that deep (like a tad bit more than acupuncture). If u have any stubborn problem areas, u gotta come here and try dry needling!! The team is incredibly knowledgeable and truly cares about their patients. Upon arrival, I stood at the desk for several minutes while she remained on her phone. Her only greeting was "Yes?" She then claimed a form was missing and made no effort to help resolve it. Despite my daughter's physician being located downstairs and able to provide the form immediately, the appointment was cancelled and my daughter was denied care. As a result, my child is now in pain and without treatment. This was not a clinical issue. It was a front-desk failure and a complete lack of patient care. Multiple reviews already reference this same individual. Leadership needs to address this immediately!!
