I have a story for you my very first eye glass place was EYEVISION i Got an exam got glasses 2 weeks later eyes hurting headaches I return to the places told them their response was your eyes need to adjust I accepted that It made sense. 2 months i returned they are still hurting and still headaches I returned and they said the same thing. after speaking with family members I was told to go somewhere else I got a referral from someone in my hometown at the time Ronkonkoma Sachem Eye Care I booked the appointment and it was fast. the next day They did an exam full The bottom line EYEVISION gave me the wrong prescription in my glasses . Sachem Eye care is the most honest, personable. place you can be they go above and beyond for you.

When I tried ordering my six months supply today they not only wouldn't do so without another exam (which my insurance won't cover due to it being six months from my previous one) but they didn't have an appointment available until after I ran out of contacts and supposedly don't have any sample contacts in stock. So basically "We lied about your ability to reorder, you can't be seen before you run out and it suks to be you." Not the kind of office I want to deal with ever again.

Two years ago my daughter and I went to Vision World for new glasses because it's among the few…read moreplaces that accept my insurance (besides Cohens which is the worst place to go). The staff was polite, and they tried their best to be helpful - not in a way that really suit myself or mu daughter. I need glasses for both distance and reading, so the doctor recommended bifocals - in my early 40s, I did not want bifocals, plus I don't need to wear them for everything - for moderate range, I don't need the glasses. However the doctor and the lady at the desk kinda pushed the issue and the doctor shown me an example where you don't see any embarrassing tell tale lines in the bifocals, so I decided to give them a try. Next part, choosing frames, I purchased frames from a separate retailer prior to the visit knowing what I had in mind, but the doctor said they were too small for bifocals and had the lady at the counter show me some and show my daughter some for her distance only glasses. Thing is, she was only showing me the stuff in the range of my insurance- which would have been fine and appreciated- if I wasn't willing to spend extra out of pocket money to get exactly what I wanted and she nor the doctor seemed to understand I didn't care about extra costs, I didn't like the insurance frames and would have happily spent extra money on a nice pair of frames. Well, I ended up with the insurance frames which weren't the most horrible but not exactly my style and same for my daughter...Fast forward about 10 days when we go back to pick up our glasses. Not happy. The bifocals had that embarrassing line, and they hurt to try to look through but they said to test them out for a couple of weeks that I would get used to them. Fine. At first my daughter thought her glasses were fine too, until she actually tried to see something 8 feet away that was completely blurry - her prescription is either too strong or not strong enough. I tried the bifocals for two weeks and HATED them. I ended up going back to have my prescription separated- a pair of glasses for distance and a separate pair for reading - which the doctor really didn't want to do but because I wasn't happy with the bifocals he done it. Only thing is, my prescription wasn't accurate either- the distance glasses aren't strong enough. The employees here aren't bad, they do seem to try to help you stay within the parameters of your insurance but the most important part - getting the prescription wrong is a big problem. Lens Crafters doesn't take my insurance but they are the only vision center that ever got my prescription right and I got the exact frames I wanted.
