I ordered online and the delivery was super fast and efficient (note: I was there when school wasn't in session, so I assume things are less busy). My daughter's birthday is today and I'm 4+ hours away so last night about 10:30pm I decided to order a treat. Today is also blue & white game day so I knew I'd be very limited. I looked at the Insomnia Cookie website and decided to order from there. I ordered online with a 12:30am delivery. My daughter then indicated she wanted it by 11:30pm and I called the store to change the delivery time. It wasn't an issue at all and I got updates with a final one at 11:27pm that it was officially delivered! My daughter got it and sent pics saying it was delicious!!! One of my hobbies is baking, so as you can imagine I have some pretty high standards when it comes to cookies. Even if my standards are high, though, I try to keep my mind open when I eat cookies I didn't bake myself. Having heard about Insomnia before, I had an idea in my head about what to expect but it fell a little short of my expectations for a few reasons. First, the idea of a delivery service for milk and cookies and ice cream is incredible, especially in a college town. The selection of cookies was decent, but it wasn't anything you could call impressive. Peanut butter, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, M&M, oatmeal raisin, etc., nothing really out of the ordinary. If you wanted one of the deluxe cookies, you better be prepared to spend over $3 a cookie. We didn't really look much into the milk or ice cream being that my boyfriend is lactose intolerant, but it looks like there were a few options to choose from (although they were also pricy). We were visiting Happy Valley for the weekend and had a slight sweet tooth so we opted for a takeout order of a half dozen cookies. The cookies were small but I was holding out hope that for nearly $9 they would be over-the-top with flavor. Unfortunately, the cookies left a bit to be desired. They were warm so I'm not questioning the freshness, but you'd just expect a little more for the high price. When I was in college $9 would have been more wisely spent on a 24 pack of chicken-flavored Ramen. Rather good cookies but not very big. I'd say they're medium size. For the size we felt they were a bit pricy. We bought the sample 6 pack cookies and each was pleasant. There uniqueness is they are on campus and open very late to cater to students out in the night partying. Good idea. read more

No doubt five stars. These cookies were amazing and they delivered to our hotel. Cookies are one of my many weaknesses and among the biggest. We got a couple of mixes and they were all awesome. Salted caramel got rave reviews, triple chocolate chunk amazing. They were unbelievable while warm and still awfully good the next day. We didn't need deluxe cookies while eating other less than healthy foods but we're glad we got them. And cookies for breakfast is always a plus. read more

A perfect solution to send loved ones a gift when they are away at college! Great selection and the fact that they deliver according to the squirrelly schedules of college students is brilliant! We ordered 5 large cookie cakes and they wrote on each one a part of the birthday greeting! We added 3 quarts of ice cream and it was like a small party delivered at any time up til 4am! Whoever came up with the idea for Insomnia Cookies is a genius. I remember seeing a special on Food Network about them before I moved to State College, and was ecstatic when I heard that there was one just down the street from my apartment. The cookies are delicious and the delivery doesn't seem to take too long - usually around 30 to 45 minutes. I love that there is a wide selection of sweets to choose from: cookies of all varieties, brownies that can be customized (you can add pretty much anything from cookie dough to rainbow sprinkles), pints or quarts of ice cream, brownies and cookies a la Mode, cookie cakes, and the very necessary pints and quarts of milk. My ordering experiences haven't been the greatest, hence the 4-star review. Even though there are three ways to order (insomniacookies.com, lionmenus.com, and 1-877-63-COOKIE), something always goes wrong. For some reason, I can never submit orders via the main website. And sadly, there is no option to use a gift card on lionmenus.com. Tonight I had to order by calling the hotline. The woman I spoke to had no idea what she was doing. I had to repeat my order multiple times because she kept refreshing the page and had to enter my information over and over again. However, she was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience. If you have a sweet tooth or are in love with cookies, then you have certainly come to the right spot. Insomnia Cookies seems to be near every large college campus, and Penn State is definitely not overlooked in this process. This cookie spot is located on the east side of campus, near the Starbucks and Uncle Chen. Don't worry too much about parking because there's plenty of spots in the shopping center. If you get lazy, don't fret, they also deliver via LionMenus. As far as the cookies go, they are baked fresh throughout the day. Once you order your cookie for $1.25, the guy literally pulls it out of the over and hands it to you. It comes out with your crispy cookie edge, but soft and chewy center. With the chocolate chip cookies, the chocolate is literally melting as you eat. Ok, so if chocolate chip is not your cookie of choice, then they also have everything from oatmeal raisin to a simple sugar cookie. On top of all the cookies, they also serve drinks like milk, as well as some ice cream. This is seriously a place where you can put some serious punishment to your stomach. Make sure to eat at your own risk. If you don't watch out, pretty soon you'll jump from a size 30 waist to a 40, and will sweat chocolate while you walk. They reminded me a lot of the cookies from the places in the malls that used to be in every food court. They were expensive per cookie and had a wide variety of ordering options. I went in tonight with my service dog in my arm. Right when I walked in the girl at the front didn't even greet me and said that my dog can't be in here. I explained he was my service dog and she did not care. She said she will only serve me if I put him outside. I explained that I legally am allowed to bring him in with me anywhere and that I will not put him on the ground. She then, in the most passive aggressive voice said "OKAY WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE?" And proceeded to make me feel uncomfortable. I was embarrassed and the other workers did not bud in at all. Terrible service and I will never be going here again. read more

I love insomnia cookies but I wouldn't suggest getting cookies delivered. Delivery always takes way too long no matter if you order in the evening or after midnight. I love that this place is open very late, as it should be with a college town. The cookies are good, but 'nothing to write home about'. Expensive per cookie, but they deliver and it's easy to order. I've had deliveries in the past, and I stopped in one time as well. Sometimes the cookies are a little underdone in the middle (especially the peanut butter cookies), but perhaps some people like that? To me, I'd rather my cookies have a chewy and crispy consistency than fat and doughy. For example, I'd prefer cookies from the Wegman's bakery ten fold over Insomnia Cookies. I give it 2 stars because the cookies are absolutely delicious. Everything else about the business is lackluster. They are crazy expensive. It'll cost you about $25 plus tip to get 12 cookies delivered to you. There's another issue, the delivery. The first 2 times we ordered from them we ended up having to call the store because over an hour and half went by and they still weren't delivered yet. The most recent time we got them we agreed, while they are really good, it just isn't worth that crazy price for 12 cookies when we could get a dinner for 2 at a restaurant for the same price. If they just lowered their prices I could see myself ordering from them once a week. read more

The cookies are great. The prices and delivery are not. The concept is simple and kinda foolproof: a delivery restaurant specializing in cookies, in a college town. It's a no-brainer, right? The sort of thing you'd see getting delivered to dorms and apartments all over town. But it isn't terribly logical at all to get Insomnia Cookies delivered. The cookies are so overpriced that it's a bit laughable. Add on the absurd delivery costs of Order Up, and you've ended up with an order of a dozen cookies that costs $23. These cookies aren't particularly large, either; they're about 3 inches wide. Plus, the delivery is pretty terrible, even for Order Up- it will take at the minimum 40 minutes for the cookies to be delivered, regardless of your location. Of the two times I have ordered Insomnia Cookies, both took around an hour to deliver. Unless you're really craving cookies (which definitely happens sometimes), it's probably smarter to not order Insomnia Cookies. They actually have the worst service I've ever seen in my life. They don't have someone working in the front, and there have been so many times where I've waited 10-15 minutes just for someone to come to the front from the back to just take my order, plus extra time to make it. When I order from insomnia to get it delivered, they've messed up my orders/forgotten things a bunch of times too. Once I had to wait over 3 hours for my order because they were having some event, but they didn't advertise that it was going on so some person who just wanted insomnia wouldn't have known that they were so backed up. Was then awoken by my roommate at 12:30 am saying the order had come. At that point I wasn't even in the mood for them, and just went back to sleep. I'm upset I left a tip at the time of payment. I've ordered from them twice. The first time, I ordered late (maybe around 1:30), and expected to get my food late. However, when the time crept closer to closing time, I started to get worried. Then, I get a call saying that their driver's car broke down, so there's no way they can deliver the final deliveries of the night. This puzzled me, as I was on the phone with a human being, who theoretically owned a car. Or who worked with someone who owned a car. I just figured that if they really wanted to finish up their deliveries, they would've found a way. But whatever. It's their business model. So, I agreed to get my food first thing the next afternoon, and the food was fine. As the food was fine, I decided to give this business another chance. I placed another order. This one was for a cookie and a quart of ice cream. Delivery was within a reasonable time, the cookie was great. But the ice cream... The ice cream was AWFUL. Some of it tasted fine, but some of it tasted, like it was freezer burned. To top it off, there were these huge chunks of ice all throughout the ice cream. So, I can only assume I got a batch of their oldest, least mixed ice cream. All in all, this place is not worth the price or the hassle. If I want ice cream and cookies, from now on I'll just go to Weis instead of blowing my money on this mess. Two thumbs down. read more
