My older daughter has enjoyed the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) track, while my little one loves the hip hop (thanks Mr. Ethan!) and ballet/jazz classes. I personally love the adult ballet classes (Ms. Caitlyn!) There are a lot of choices for after school activities, but the integrity and professionalism of this studio makes dance my girls' favorite activity. Lastly, The Nutcracker, Spring Performance, and June Show are INCREDIBLE productions, and they really show off each dancer's technique and love of dance!

My DD is in her pre-professional era, and we drive 25 min daily to her classes, 6 days a week. We transitioned here in middle school from her local studio. The directors teach all the levels so that proper foundational technique permeates through all levels. Husband trained at the same academy as Baryshnikov, and is a retired NYCB dancer. Wife trained at Academie de Princesse Grace ( Monaco), and also had a lauded professional ballet career. They have taught over 20 years. The class sizes are small, instruction is very attentive. Many body types succeed here, and teachers' approach is anatomy informed. Class time can run over allowing more time as needed to achieve goal/lesson of the day. The students perform an annual Nutcracker, and a full length classical ballet in the Spring ( rotation of Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Cinderella, and La Bayadere). Competitions are optional ( we dont plan any), and all students are welcome to schedule privates. Many students audition and are accepted into "3 letter" prestigious summer intensives. In the last 2 years, Every student who auditioned for San Francisco Ballet summer was accepted, one student got a year round scholarship to the Boston Ballet. One will attend Joffrey (Chicago) in the Fall and another recently moved to Ballet West. The instructors teach with passion, dedication to each student ( irrespective of career or recreational intent), and fidelity to the art form. They are calm and conscientious. Former professional ballet dancers send their children here. My daughter is very proud of her growth here as a strong and beautiful dancer!

The annual Nutcracker and spring performances (La Bayadere, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake) are cherished traditions. Many dancers also compete, and have gone on to dance in leading companies, or in college. The overall ambiance and energy of the entire studio is serious, yet incredibly supportive and joyous. We are so lucky to have Ballet Arte ~ we absolutely love this studio.

I had to stop for a while, because of knee problems, and then was just taking the Zumba classes at the YMCA in Encinitas, because they come with my membership. I decided it's time to "get serious" for 2019, and lose some weight and get in better shape, so I decided I'd go back to Marcela for her Zumba. No one else has quite the happy and peppy attitude she has! She has a genuine smile on her face all the time, and makes her classes extra fun! It's worth the extra money I put out now, because I have more fun and work harder. Please don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Y! I love it there and love the people. It's just that Marcela has something that is a true "cut above" with her Zumba! Also, the classes I take with her are MUCH smaller, making it more intimate.
