The faculty that has been assembled here are all highly sought after. Many of them are asked to teach seminars across the country and even overseas. They offer a variety of dance disciplines including classical ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap and contemporary. Every winter, the studio presents one of the finest "Nutcracker" ballet's performed by students. The time and energy that the staff and owners put into this performance is astounding. It allows the students to experience the big stage with all the lights and effects that are mostly reserved for professional artists. Finally, you know your child will be getting a strong performing arts experience here when they audition for national summer intensive programs such as the American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey and the School of American Ballet, to name just a few, and are accepted time and time again. My daughter auditioned for the first time last year. We didn't expect anything going into this process being our first try. However, the acceptances came rolling in one after the other. The process continues this year with similar results. I couldn't be happier to have chosen this studio for my daughter. She has gained physical strength, agility and grace through the various classes she has taken. More importantly It has increased her self esteem and confidence to a whole new level. My daughter has found a passion for dance that she will carry forever. I have since enrolled my younger daughter and son for classes. They too have gained much since enrolling. She is on the younger side, so I understood going in that she might not be able to fully participate in every activity. My goal was not only to help her develop motor skills, but also to give her a chance to socialize and for me to meet other moms, as we are new to the area. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the experience felt very unwelcoming. We showed up to class and no one greeted us. I introduced myself to the instructor and the group and was met with blank stares. I even asked if I could enter the gated area to participate at the start of class, and again received no response. Trying to break the ice, I made a light comment about noticing everyone had their shoes off and asked where I should place my belongings. The instructor, Clarissa, responded coldly with "no shoes allowed," without any further guidance or welcome. Once we got settled, the class itself actually had a nice structure. I appreciated the variety of activities and how it helps introduce young children to a ballet studio environment. Even though my daughter was a bit too young for some parts, I could see the potential value of the program. However, the lack of warmth and basic courtesy completely overshadowed that. I felt uncomfortable the entire time. At the end of class, I left right away because I didn't feel welcomed enough to stay and socialize with the other moms. As I was gathering my things, Clarissa approached me only to hand me a "first class" promotional flyer without any conversation, feedback, or acknowledgment. I had really hoped this would be a place where both my daughter and I could feel comfortable, build connections, and return regularly. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Erin Duclos provides a level of ballet training that is unparalleled by any school in San Diego. Her understanding of ballet technique exceeds her own personal experience as a dancer for many years. She has also studied in depth the best way to train fundamental alignment and technique so as to allow dancers to fully express themselves artistically. She uses physics and analogies of every day activities to make understanding ballet accessible, for beginners and advanced dancers alike. Her methods are tried and true, as many of her students have gone on to become professional dancers. Whenever I have traveled and taken classes at other studios, teachers approach me after class to ask where I trained. Her students' dancing speak volumes to her abilities as an instructor. Her knowledge is extensive in many aspects of ballet; including correct verbiage (rather than Americanized ballet slang), costuming (she can make tutus!), choreography (both original and staging other works), and a general understanding of the ballet world - which is useful in many contexts, for example, when looking for advice for auditions. Perhaps what I love most about To The Pointe is the warm and welcoming atmosphere Mrs. Duclos has fostered. It is a studio of support, friends, and fun, and mean spirits are not tolerated. I have never felt unwelcome dancing there. For this reason, more than any other, I keep coming back!

I took a cardio tap class at Tap Fever in Feb 2023 and was immediately hooked! Since then I have…read morebeen going to as many classes as I can! It has completely changed my life for the better. I came for the workout but ended up finding SO much more than that- a welcoming community, supportive teachers, lifelong friends, and my passion for dance has been re-ignited. Larisa plans so many fun events to showcase our hard work. There is something for everyone! "Vaudeville Fever" cabaret shows, three recitals each year, holiday parades, performances on stage at Disneyland, Fringe Festival/ Taptastic shows, community events, and so much more. There is never any pressure to participate in the recitals. However, if we end up in a class together I might try to pressure you into it because a lot of people end up discovering how much fun it is to perform on stage! All of the teachers have their unique styles and their classes are all so much fun. I always leave feeling inspired and energized! The unlimited package is a great option if you want to try a variety of tap and other styles of dance classes. I take ballet, tap (technique, broadway, and cardio tap), and sometimes drop in for jazz. $600 for a 16-week session and I took about 150 classes- what a deal! They also allow people to pay for one class at a time, or packages of 4+ classes to use throughout the session. Also you can rent tap shoes for just $3! I did that for my first class and then immediately went home and ordered a pair of my own since I could feel in my bones that this was going to become a big part of my life again (after taking 20 years off from dance). I could go on about how much I love Tap Fever. Being part of this community has truly changed my life and I am so thankful to Larisa, Diane, Chantal, Chelsea, Andrea, and Britt for keeping the classes fun, challenging, and inspiring! You can tell you all pour your hearts and souls into teaching dance! I highly recommend Tap Fever to anyone of any age and any abilities! Teachers are all more than willing to work with you and offer modifications that you might find helpful. No worries if you have never put tap shoes before. My dad came to a cardio tap class and it was his first time wearing tap shoes. He did a great job and was smiling the whole time!
