The installation process was long, disorganized, and full of unnecessary delays. The person who came out to measure forgot to template the riser for our basement bar, which immediately stalled the project. Later, (after one rescheduled install due to staffing issues), an installation crew refused to enter the house after being instructed to use the basement entrance in the back. They left without completing any work. That decision alone pushed our remodel back another two weeks and disrupted the schedules of our other contractors. When installers finally returned, it was around 5:00 p.m. just before the Fourth of July weekend. Instead of simply completing the job, they immediately started making excuses about why they couldn't install the riser and suggested another reschedule. Fortunately, my painter was there and called them out, making it clear there was no reason the work couldn't be completed. They ended up installing it, allowing the rest of the project to finally move forward. If you're coordinating a remodel with multiple contractors and working on a timeline, I would not recommend Hard Rock Stone Works. The lack of communication, poor project management, and repeated delays turned what should have been a straightforward installation into a frustrating experience.

The porch was cracking and pieces were falling off of it. The sidewalk was uneven and pitting. I looked into several contractors and landed on MI Remodelers. Due to minimal concrete deliveries, I originally was sold on a replacement porch & walk, with a cement evergreen edging and a large pad to place trash bins on. After agreeing to the contract, I just did not have the funds to cover everything and had to cancel the day after signing. Gary (the owner) came to my house discuss the cancelation. He said he would wave any minimal concrete requirements, do a custom concrete porch with walkway only and made me a good offer to do it. I agreed and Gary handled the job details himself. A month after signing the new agreement I had a great porch and walk. Thank you Gary and your team at MI Remodelers. I highly recommend this company.

There were some "hiccups" along the way, some major and some lesser so, but Aimee and Lauren (the scheduler) were reassuring and professional, and every issue was addressed. The crew always arrived when scheduled and, because of their professionalism and thoughtfulness we were not inconvenienced anywhere near as much as might be expected when you are living in the home during a construction project. They completed some electrical work upstairs as well. Overall, we're happy with the results. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would, but I rounded up to 5 stars. The cabinets from Pioneer Cabinetry look great, though a few handles were installed slightly off by a few millimeters (something we only noticed after a couple of months). The electrical subcontractors could improve on final details and cleanup: switches were initially placed in an odd order, they broke two access panels (later replaced), and left sawdust behind. A few personal items were accidentally discarded, and the laundry room design could have been better planned--two drawings didn't account for the six-inch clearance needed behind the washer and dryer. On the positive side, the flooring subcontractor (Abbey Floors) was excellent and quickly resolved a wood floor installation issue. The countertop subcontractor was great to work with, and Kitchen Masters' designer Megan was fantastic. The painter worked hard and did a great job. The owner also came to our home several times to ensure we were satisfied, which we truly appreciated. If you choose Kitchen Masters, know that the process works best as a partnership between the homeowner and the project manager. Review all drawings carefully before the project begins, ask for additional drawings if needed, and double-check measurements, clearances, and appliance sizes yourself. This was our second major project with contractors, and while Kitchen Masters could improve on final details, they are a good company to partner with if you're willing to stay engaged. They were also better than our previous bathroom contractors at fixing issues to our satisfaction. Pricing was reasonable compared to other quotes, though in the end we were close to the same cost. I'd call our project a lower-luxury project--Bosch appliances, quartzite countertops, and engineered hardwood--but not over the top like Wolf, Sub-Zero, solid hardwood, or rare marble. The house is in Farmington Hills, 12 Mile and Drake Road area.
