The porch was cracking and pieces were falling off of it. The sidewalk was uneven and pitting. I looked into several contractors and landed on MI Remodelers. Due to minimal concrete deliveries, I originally was sold on a replacement porch & walk, with a cement evergreen edging and a large pad to place trash bins on. After agreeing to the contract, I just did not have the funds to cover everything and had to cancel the day after signing. Gary (the owner) came to my house discuss the cancelation. He said he would wave any minimal concrete requirements, do a custom concrete porch with walkway only and made me a good offer to do it. I agreed and Gary handled the job details himself. absolute shit job on my exterior door. it sticks opening and shutting. its been like this since the day he installed it but its been impossible to get Gary out. here's his reply to my email explaining that a rep from the door company came out and said its been installed improperly: Hello We included a 1 year warranty with your Grandfathers project. Would you happen to have any other work needed? Overpriced I hired MI Remodelers for a kitchen update, and while I love the final look, the process was a nightmare. I would not wish this experience on anyone. Here is why you should look for another company: 1. Poor Communication & Mismanagement Failed Documentation: They refused to acknowledge mistakes in their own company portal. Shifting Blame: Expect to hear "that's not in scope," "you didn't tell us," and "Dave didn't say that." The "Liar" Treatment: I was actually called a liar by the team. No Timelines: Despite promises to add them to the portal, I never received a project timeline. High Turnover: I dealt with multiple Project Managers. Disappearing Subs: Subcontractors rarely showed up when scheduled, leading to constant runarounds. 2. Hidden Costs & Lack of Prep Demo Disasters: The demo date was moved, and they do not tell you that YOU are responsible for moving appliances. My husband had to move the stove, fridge, and dishwasher at 4 a.m. to avoid a $1,200 fee for them to do it. Reinstallation Fees: It costs another $1,200 to reinstall appliances after the remodel. Pressure for Payment: They pushed for payment before work was completed. 3. Poor Workmanship & Measurements Incorrect Cabinets: 90% of my cabinets had to be reordered because they failed to verify the salesperson's measurements. Massive Delays: Demo was on 9/11 with no materials on-site. Cabinets didn't arrive until 10/3, and installation couldn't even be attempted until 11/24 due to issues with floor leveling and subfloor work. Incompetent Installation: When they finally arrived, they did not fit or line up properly. Bottom Line: I was without a functional kitchen sink for over 22 weeks (154 days). My review is in regards to MI Remodelers, owner Gary Muehling, Craig, Kris, Cody, and the other employees who "work" at this company. In my opinion, BEWARE and STEER CLEAR. I put all my trust in them and ended up on the very bad side of a job agreement. The "Integrity Guys?" To me, integrity brings to mind honesty, trustworthiness, honor, high standards, strong moral principals, decency, and the like. NONE of these words come to my mind after hiring Gary's MI Remodelers. My bathroom remodel, accepted in March 2025, was left as a gutted, bare to the rafters shambles in September 2025, when we finally fired them. First, they would not start the bathroom remodel until a new roof was put on my home for better ventilation. I agreed to this, but the shingles installed at the end of April were not the ones I ordered. This was the FIRST red flag. On June 24th, my only full bathroom was demolished. Weeks would pass and no one showed up to work. We showered at the gym or at relatives' houses for months. This was ANOTHER big issue. The only work attempted was partial electrical (which the sub contractor stopped due to lack of payment from MI Remodelers), some faulty plumbing which had to be redone according to code, and mold remediation. The drywall was mostly installed without glue, ceiling drywall was pieced haphazardly with big gaps around the ceiling light/fan, and the toilet flange was set too deep and only held by one bolt... a likely future fail. By almost mid September they agreed the drywall job was unacceptable and removed it all. We were now back to bare rafters with no promise of workers lined up to fix this huge, stressful ADDITIONAL problem. We had no choice then but to fire Gary and MI Remodelers. I was rescued by relatives and friends who knew their profession. Thinking about my VERY significant loss of money and the amount I was still being charged was so dishonest. Very little, subpar, and incomplete work was accomplished, but they were still collecting my checks and demanding more with no work done. At first, after the large upfront payment, Gary said the checks were for completed work (not true). Then, Gary said he had workers waiting and the money was required first. When we said we would need to actually see some work done first, Gary told me he would pull the work permits and put a lien on my house! When I first hired them, I had followed EVERY requirement and ALWAYS paid when they asked. They did NOT do the promised work and then threatened me. What I don't understand is WHY they treated me like they did. I was kind and welcoming. I had plans for them to remodel my kitchen next. It made no sense to treat me so poorly and take so many thousands of dollars from me, not doing their part of the deal. It was so very dishonest and really disheartening. I really trusted them. It was hard to accept such unethical treatment. Gary and company, thinking about your unfair actions towards me, I could not have been more disappointed by your unprofessional behavior. Prospective clients of Gary and MI Remodelers, save yourself their non-performance, problems, dishonesty, and loss of much money. I wish someone had warned me. P.S. Down-payment was made for work at my home, but a competitor provided a better price during my recission period. The law states 10 days for any payments made during the recission period to be returned. It has been nearly one month, and we still haven't recovered our deposit. We had MI remodelers out to replace our front steps and install a concrete patio. Gary and the team were so easy to work with! We're a younger couple and weren't exactly sure what we wanted but they gave us lots of options and talked about which ones would be best. We had a couple of quotes done and we liked them the best because they were super punctual, a fair price, and really easy to get a hold of. Every time we contacted them we heard back from someone within a half our. The patio looks wonderful! It's everything we wanted. Also while they were out, they noticed one of our gutters was falling so they quoted us a price to fix that took. The gutter looks amazing! Almost wish we would've replaced more (another project for another day). We defiantly plan on having MI remodelers come out to do more projects in the future. read more

Gary, the owner, knew all the steps involved to acquire the crucial answers that my husband and I needed to make a decision about the potential purchase of a historical home. Gary took the initiative to perform a thorough site inspection and contact the historical society to glean additional information. It was with Gary's holistic assessment, that we were able to make an educated decision regarding the purchase of a historical property. Gary's expert opinion gave us the confidence to walk away from what would have been an utter nightmare. We can only be exuberant about that. Had someone come out for a quote on our tiny 5x5 bathroom. It has been 4 days and still no official quote, but when he was here he said $20,000-$25,000. That is the most offensive quote for a small bathroom remodel. Other companies are coming in at less than half that. He didn't leave a business card and never followed up. read more

This company completely wasted my time!!!! their communication on what they are willing to do is terrible even after I told them what I needed done and how small my bathroom was!! They should have immediately provided that info to me or turned down!! my job from the beginning!!!! Instead they set up an appointment with my husband and I and called me the day before to tell me there base prices. They start at 5,000 just to do floor.
