Upon entering I was greeted by the two staff members with a pleasant hello and the question of how can we help you today? Meanwhile both of these guys were clearly in the middle of assembling/ servicing bikes but didn't seem to mind taking a minute to help me find what I was looking for. This was huge for me as i've been to other shops in the past and have had the opposite experience. One time the staff of another local shop couldn't be bothered to look up from whatever they were doing to assist me when I was literally there to buy a bike... a nice top of the line gravel bike I wanted for a long time..that experience left me so jaded I took my business elsewhere. Long story long that was not the case with these dudes, and after helping me find the helmet and peddles I needed I learned a bunch about the owner Jake and head mechanic Ed. Both of them local to the area - their stoke and knowledge of the neighboring trail systems was wonderful and they even hooked me up w/ a shop water bottle - I've got a zillion bottles but who doesn't love free swag?? Safe to say I left shop more stoked on riding than when I walked in and fully intend to shop here again in the future. Lastly, the aesthetics were modern and major bonus points for the sick grunge station they had on!

Visited this place in October with a coworker we both bought Segway scooters for our commute to…read morework. My coworker took his right on the spot. Mine wasn't ready. I was told to come back tomorrow. I tried calling the next day, but nobody answered the phone so I showed up they didn't remember me. I told him I had purchased a scooter yesterday with my coworker, and then they went to look for it and they said it still wasn't ready and they needed to charge it . I came back the following day called again. No answer showed up didn't know who I was again reminded him an went to get my scooter ready for me to take one problem, though there was no charger with the brand new scooter. He could not find it. So he gave me a charger from behind the counter fast forward to today, May 5, 2026. I tried calling again no answer so I drove in. Doors were locked. Lights are on went to the front and back entrance. No sign of anyone one last check I see the guy who sold me the scooter in the window. I motion to him to come over. He comes over. he lets me in. I tell him about my scooter, he tells me to bring it in. I told him the back brake is no longer working, and my rear tire was making a grinding noise. He told me I could leave it to fill out my information before leaving. I asked him when he thought somebody would be able to take a look at it and he told me about a month. He stated the technician wasn't in today and that they had a backlog of scooters that needed to be repaired, which he pointed to in the corner and then told me there was multiple down in the basement of the same model. I told him that wasn't an option for me to wait over a month and that the scooter is still under warranty for another five months he tried to refer me to a scooter shop in Cambridge, which I live nowhere near and not paying for something that was under warranty. I then asked him what to do and he told me to call Segway the scooter company. And then again referred me to the scooter shop in Cambridge, which I had to reiterate that was not an option and I am not paying for something that is still under warranty. I asked him for Segway's number which he told me he did not have and to "Google it". My only dealings with this place twice have not been good and not the best customer service to say the least. Scooters were $1100 with tax and are under warranty for another five months and they are telling me I have to wait over a month to even get it looked at. Unacceptable!

This is everything you look for in a local bike shop - staff who are helpful, approachable, look to work with bike owners and enable them to do basic maintenance at home, while remaining available for the maintenance and repairs at the shop!!!! This is an absolutely stellar shop. Very few of these are still left, unfortunately.

I had my eye on a bike for a week or so, before deciding to go ahead and order it online on Monday…read more. Said "in stock" and available for pick up in Danvers Tuesday morning or seabrook Wednesday morning. (Danvers was closed Monday). I chose to pick up in seabrook Wednesday since we are in NH and couldn't get down to Danvers Tuesday anyway. My confirmation email said "ships from western cycle" to seabrook location. My receipt was from the Danvers location. I got a call Tuesday at 5:30pm from seabrook saying that they didn't have the bike I ordered in stock at either location. I explained what my confirmation email said and the very sympathetic employee from seabrook said he would call Danvers so see if they had put the bike aside without his knowledge. Danvers was already closed for the day so he offered to call and get back to me in the morning. 10:15 Wednesday I get a call from the owner, with a big attitude, telling me that they don't have the bike. Zero sympathy or compassion for me, the customer. He claims it was in seabrook and must have sold right before I ordered but doesn't know when. I was obviously upset, having ordered Monday and only finding out two days later that they sold me a bike they didn't have. The owner acted annoyed that he even had to call me and said "I don't know what to tell ya". He offered to cancel the order or order the bike (which would come in 7-10 business days), but we are leaving on vacation and needed a bike sooner. He said "sorry" like he was forced to, and was just overall not nice to me. I would recommend Buchika or Philbrick's for your bike needs. Philbricks went above and beyond and legit built a bike for us same day (normally a 2-4 day turn around) so we'd have it for vacation.

This store appeals to both demographics, although the "everyday commuter" type might find the bicycles in stock to be on the pricey side. I do not fault the store, but instead greater consumer trends within the industry. The service is generally good and reliable, however certain times of the year service will be backed up (summer holidays).

Their customer service and knowledge of all types of riders and bikes is why I choose to patronize them, as well as why I will send all my friends who I try to convince to get into cycling. They truly just want you to get the best bike for yourself. Not the most expensive or the flashiest bike. They know their stuff and they truly just want to match everyone to a bike that will make them happy and give them the best riding experience. Their repair staff is also top notch. I have had some whacky issues with my bikes over the years and they have solved them every single time. Several years ago, I purchased an Orbea mountain bike through them. Unfortunately, there was a manufacturers defect with the dropper post (not Papa Wheelie's fault - a manufacturing issue). The staff at Papa Wheelie's took my bike in and took care of the entire process in dealing with the claim and getting the part from the manufacturer and got me back on my bike quite quickly considering many of the parts were coming in from Spain. I am always team support your local bike shop, but I am specifically team support Papa Wheelies as your lbs, because they truly care. Yes, you can order a bike online direct from manufacturers, but nothing beats the experience of going in and working with the people at Papa Wheelies to figure out what bike works for you and making adjustments to that bike or getting a bike fit to make sure that it is the best possible machine you can ride. It's an investment and Papa Wheelies makes that process 100 times easier. Lastly, I'll add that bikes can be expensive. Tax on expensive things can be expensive. New Hampshire doesn't have taxes. Are you doing the math with me? If you are buying a bike for several thousand dollars in other New England states, you can end up paying several hundred dollars in taxes. You can avoid that by heading on up to beautiful tax free New Hampshire and buying your bike at Papa Wheelies.
