David helped us and spent over two hours working with her trying multiple ski boots, custom-molding insoles, and dialing in the fit to absolute perfection. Not only is David a master of his craft, but he also shared a lifetime's worth of knowledge throughout the process. His passion for what he does is unmatched. In my opinion, he's the best boot fitter in New England, if not the entire country. They simply don't make people like him anymore, and no one will ever be able to replace the level of care and expertise he brings. I purchased over $400 of items for my child, they gave us a gift card. Sad to say the gift card was lost. Contacted them for a new card, but they refused to issue a new card, even though they could have canceled the original card. That was $50 down the drain. Also the staff is not too knowledgeable about the products they sell. Every time I had a question, they would have to look up the information which sometimes took up to 5 minutes. read more

We had a great experience with our ski and boot fitting at Ski Haus. Joe and Wayne were super helpful and thoughtful about fitting me and my fiancé. We both have narrow feet and they found several options for us. They were thoughtful about cost and pulled out models from last season to give us more affordable options. Finally, they let us take our time trying the boots out and finding the ones that worked best for us. In addition to boots, they helped us pick out the right footbed and, for my fiancé, the right skis. Prices in store matched what we found online from similar retailers, so we feel great about the combo of service & price! I recommend making a boot fitting appointment online so you ensure good service as the season gets busier. Do not shop here!! These people do not know how to run a business. I always prefer to support small business, but not when they are in the business of scamming their customers. I went to buy a pair of ski pants for my son and was charged twice. When I noticed that the payment was processed twice I called and got the runaround speaking to 3 different people. They assured me that it was only process once even after I had showed them my bank statement where that amount was deducted twice...They refused to refund me, I spent 2 day going back and forth with their accounting department and management. The said to take it up with my bank, that there was nothing they could do. When speaking to my bank they disputed the charge they agreed they had never heard of a business refusing refund and called it fraud! I should mention that when checking out, the pants were tagged $200 and trying charging $220. I questioned it and it was changed but assured me I was not charged when I first tabbed my card. I had a very pleasant experience at Ski Haus. I've always rented skis over the years, but finally decided to buy my own. I had no idea what to look for. But the staff at Ski Haus approached me, asked if I needed help, and basically guided me through the entire process of selecting skis, bindings, boots, poles, etc. They showed me a few different options at different price points and explained some of the differences. It was really chill and easy. And considering the significant expense of buying your own ski gear, I felt like I was buying the most appropriate gear for myself. Bought over $600 worth of snow suits for my children, they gave us a gift certificate for $50. 10 days later, I lost the gift certificate, when I called And asked for a supervisor, I explained to him what happened, he would not issue another gift certificate, stating , what if I find the gift certificate and spend it again, which I agreed with, but at the same time I asked the supervisor if they keep records of gift certificates, ( which I'm sure they Did) the Supervisor refused to answer the question. I asked him a second time , still refused, and he wanted To end the call immediately and would not answer anymore questions. Instead of working with his customers And trying to fix the situation, These people did nothing to help a customer , who10 days earlier spent over $600 at their place. What A lousy way to save $50 and end up losing a customer. read more

Was informed by one guy in the ski sales department that appointments take priority, and that as a walk-in, I could wait "20-30" minutes for assistance--seemed reasonable to me. I waited 40 minutes, and asked the second guy in ski sales (the ski sales manager with long blond hair) if he could let me know when they could help me. He informed me that he had no idea, and that I could request an appointment online. I told him that I'd have been fine if they told me that 40 minutes earlier, but now that I had waited, could he give me a rough idea? He responded that he had no idea that they would be this busy (wait...it's all by appointment, and he didn't know?). In any case, I told him that I would've liked to have known that earlier, and he responded that I "can go to another store". When the manager flippantly tells you that you can go to another store because his staff failed to communicate properly and that's after they waste 40 minutes of your time, it is enough evidence for me to question how well they will stand behind a $400+ set of skis. I recommend to take your business elsewhere. read more

Great service throughout the entire process. I spent a lot of money here. After earning a certificate for spending over $1,000 I got a $50 gift certificate. When I tried using it for $50 they told me I can only use it for one item. So my item cost $40 and now I just lose the $10? I tried buying something worth $10 and they said no. I didn't read the back of the coupon but that is just horrible customer service. Great way to say "thank you" to your customer is taking more money from them and getting absolutely nothing. Will not be spending that much here ever again. Horrible customer service when it comes to cash handling. Wouldn't be surprised if this coupon policy was illegal. The coupon states "$ 50 off your next purchase". It does not say item. I will be filing a complaint with the State. read more

Walked in to buy skis/boots today. The woman up front said a nice hello. The two guys working in the ski department were helping other customers. I looked around at the gear for 10 mins and neither one acknowledged my presence so I left and went down the street to Buchikas and bought them there. I expect to wait when others are being helped. Being ignored for 10 mins is terrible customer service. I know ski guys love the ski stories and shoot the sh*t but it's not hard to say hi to a new customer when a guy is trying on boots. read more

Had a really good experience buying boots from this shop. Was helped right away by Logan who took me through a boot fitting. He listened to the issues I had with previous boots and was really patient. Although I thought I knew my size he convinced me to size down, which was actually my true size. The fitting took over an hour as we went through three different boots. I liked how he didn't pressure me to purchase the most expensive equipment, just the ones that fit the best. He was aware that I would research skis and gave me more options to get more information on. The service was approachable, laid back, patient, and knowledgeable. Exactly what I needed. I left with a pair of ski boots with an insole that I was really happy with and the option to come back and get more adjustments made to the boots in the future. Very different from another shop (shall not be named) who just brought boots and didn't really help me understand what the best fit would be. Although prices can often be found lower online (not for this boot, truthfully... it actually was completely on par with the discount online stores), knowing that I got a great boot and that I can get help to make it more comfortable after I ski on it, gave me peace of mind. More of my snowboarding gear has been purchased at Ski Haus than anywhere else. I find the staff to be very helpful - Maria, in particular, spent a whole lot of time with me helping to pick out new goggles and a snow outfit at the end of last season. She was friendly , knowledgeable and very informative - in addition to being very patient while my very indecisive self took forever thinking over the options. A few years ago I purchased my snowboard and bindings here. The guys in the shop explained the differences between the boards to me so I could pick the one that suited my riding needs , then set the bindings on the board in a stance that felt comfortable to me. I am still riding that board and still loving it ! This season I returned to buy some thermal layers. I love that at Ski Haus (as opposed to internet shopping) I can get the staff opinions about different products , see all the choices in person and try things on. They have a pretty large selection to choose from. I really trust their advice and would&have taken friends here for their gear as well. read more

Terrible store. Dishonest. I went to purchase ski pants for my daughter, but they had every size in this particular style except size medium, which I wanted to buy. "No problem," they'll just order it up from their other store and I can pick it up in two days. I do that, pay for it, but it doesn't fit my daughter. She tries to exchange it for a different size of the SAME ITEM, still well within their short 14-day return policy, and they say NO EXCHANGES because it was "ordered," not "off the shelf." She asks what they expect her to do with a pair of brand new ski pants that do not fit. They say "it's not their problem," she can talk to the manager, but the manager isn't in right now!! She leaves, very upset. I go back the following day and have to argue with the manager, who makes an "exception" because it is a current style that they keep in stock on the shelf. She takes the pants back, and gives me a refund on my credit card. I keep the return receipt. Good thing, because they DID NOT process the credit!! Now (7 weeks later) the credit card company is manually processing the refund for me, taking up even more of my time!!! DO NOT TRUST these people. There's a great ski store in Salem a couple blocks south on the other side of the street where the people are helpful, knowledgeable, honest and take care of their customers. Go there! read more

The customer service here is terrible. I ordered a jacket on their website on Saturday night with In-store Pickup chosen as Shipping choice. On Sunday morning before they opened, I emailed to find out at which of their three locations the jacket currently was so I could go there Sunday and pick it up. They responded saying someone would get back to me Monday. I explained I was free all day Sunday and just needed to figure out where it was and I would pick it up. The girl asked me what size it was again (I had already given her the order number and the link to their website with the jacket info). She then never responded. On Monday, another girl emailed me saying they didn't do anything regarding the order (like, you know, pulling it from the shelf) and someone came in off the street and bought it (even though I had already paid for it). I emailed both girls saying "what the heck". It's a clearance item and tough to find so I really wanted the coat. Their response was "yeah, it's unfortunate. Oh well." -- no offer of "hey, this was clearly our mistake. How about we offer you x% discount on a coat we DO have in stock." I then took a trip to the Salem, NH store just to make sure it really was gone. I told at least 3 employees (one clearly had to be the owner/manager) about the error on their part. "Yeah, it's too bad. Sorry about that." ZERO attempt to offer anything or see what they could do to make things right. This place sucks. I don't mind supporting local, but when your customer service sucks this bad, don't complain when your local business dries up and more and more customers buy from online sellers. I won't be back. I'll give my business to any one of the other numerous local shops with much better customer service then this train wreck of a shop. read more

Purchased a full snowboard package (board, boots, bindings) for my 7 y.o. son for Christmas from these guys. Went today as a family for the first time to ski/board. Signed him up for a snowboard lesson and the instructor informs us the bindings are way too big for his boots and won't work. Wait, what?!? The look on his face when he had to take his favorite Christmas present OFF and put on a rental...not fun. He made it through the day without any complaints and on our way home we called Ski Haus and explained our issue. The NOTB manager, Dan, got on the phone and told us to come by...even though we may not make it there by 6pm (closing time on New Year's Day). He checked out the current bindings, made a few suggestions, and promptly changed out the bindings to another, more appropriate (and cheaper), product. He fit the bindings to my son's boot and did so with some of the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. He kept the store open until 6:40pm for us, had to reboot the computers to give us our refund, and did so like we were the first customers of the day when they opened! I have no idea where Dan was off to this evening...dinner with friends...taking his girlfriend out...visiting his parents...but the point is, he did what was right and needed. And this family will be coming back to this store because of him. Thanks Dan...and Happy New Year! read more

I am very disappointed with Ski Haus. I bought a pair of North Face Mittens. which were quite pricey. I asked the cashier if they did not work for me, would it be possible to exchange.. She told me I could. Due to Raynauds Disease, these down mittens actually kept my hands cold. I wore them for a half hour, and figured these wouldn't work. I brought them back with the tags, not on, because how could you wear them outside. The cashier needed to get the manager , who imformed me that she just couldn't take these back because the tags were not on them. She told me that my hands needed to be warm when they go into the gloves. Really? What happens if you are skiing , your hands get cold, they stay cold, I guess! I will never shop in this store again! This is really going down hill! I had a bad experience overall! First, the selection is boring! Catering to a few rich folks with Bogner, etc., but where is all the practical items? The selection if hats, gloves, etc. is the same as last year. But what really bothered me was the "not friendly" girl at the counter. I was only buying a facemask and she just wanted all of my information. I have spent thousands of dollars here over the years, but she could not find me. So she wanted to take 10 minutes getting all of my information. No I am not saying this out loud in a crowed store! I don't know what she was typing, but I proceeded to wait 5 minutes to get my sale done. But what really prompted me to write this review was I got home, I opened up my face mask and found a security tag (the square, sticky type) stuck on the fur inside the mask. When I gently tried to peel off the label, it stretched out my new mask! It is not worth me going back to return it, because I have no need to return to that store again. read more

I will never shop there again. After they almost broke my wife's leg due to selling us mismatched boots/binding fell off during a run (Moutnain Tech said that this should have NEVER happened when they sized the bindings) and they decide to lie to me when I had our skis serviced. They said they were looking for our skis as the computers were down and I looked in the back and the guy was frantically trying to do a half baked service on our skis because they were not done. Sad thing is that, they just sort of shrugged it all off, like no big deal. Take responsibility Ski Haus, people's safety is on the line. Bought a pair of $200 snow pants here last month. Specifically told the sales man that I wanted warm. He sold me on a pair that looked like they would be warm enough. Few weekends later get out on the slopes and not only are they not warm but they felt like the wind was going straight through them. It was a very cold day but I was wearing my hot chilies underneath and felt like this should have been sufficient. I was so uncomfortable I went in and bought a different pair at the mountain bc I couldn't stand it. I figured I would be able to return them no problem, I wore them for 2 runs and had the receipt. Well it turns out it was a problem. Not only would they not take them back but they didn't even offer me store credit. Spoke to a women who looked like the owner if not at least a manager and the best she could do was write to the rep of the company and see if they could do anything for me. That was over a week ago I and I haven't heard anything. I didn't just buy the snow pants there I bought a $100 pair of gloves and an $80 undershirt. I definitely will be going across the street from now on. Very disappointed with the customer service. Don't waste your money here, over priced and they don't have the customers best interest. read more

The worst! Not much of a selection no deals to be had had and I advised that I seen a the same skis a butchikas a few minutes earlier and they looked at me like I was lying. We the 600 dollar skis I paid 540 before at butchikas and the 600 women's skis I paid 550 for at butchikas and I asked if we could cut a better deal if I bought 2 complete sets and got a no answer. Well drove over to butchikas and they did it thanks cause I felt like I was around professionals there and my 1900 dollars butchikas deserved. Also was 7:20 and felt rushed out of the store think you should consider better management. If I could put 0 stars I would!!!!!! Place is a dump also. The woman manger in this store is simply rude and customer satisfaction is not priority. I returned a pair of thermals, tags on them, due to opening the box and having pulls on the side. Her philosophy was they inspect all merchandise, which wasn't the case in this instance. Actually accused me of having made pulls on the side with my nails, or possibly some form of velcro. She could not resell these to another customer. I informed her I don't know of another store that when you get home and find a defect, they do not refund the customer. Damaged merchandise can be returned to manufacturer. Her rude demeanor and lack of professionalism as a manager and treating customers as if her products are better than the consumer. I would go to Buchika's Ski Shop in the future. If I had purchased this as a gift for someone, I would have been embarrassed at her accusatory tone with a fresh out of the box, tag still on, and receipt in hand.
