I've been in therapy with Maine Spine & Nerve since December. I was in constant pain, and unable to…read moresit or perform normal activities when I first sought care. I thought my only option for relief was surgery of which I had heard dire results. I read about decompression therapy and was relieved to see that there was an alternative to surgery. The doctor's at Maine Spine & Nerve took a thorough physical and oral examination including x-rays. The diagnosis indicated that I was a candidate for decompression therapy. At no time did they guarantee a cure, but given my condition, they had seen others with similar injuries who had relief and returned to normal daily activities after decompression therapy. They did indicate verbally and in writing that I was also responsible for working within their care guidelines in order to maximize the recovery efforts. Today, I am out of pain, able to sit comfortably, returning to a light exercise routine, and starting physical therapy. In closing, I am so thankful that I went this route instead of surgery. He can do things now that he was unable to perform last spring. I have multiple problems. My first concern was neuropathy and I sought relief through Maine Spine & Nerve. From the get-go, Dr. Vander Ploeg informed me that he could help but because I'd suffered for so many years with this condition, I could expect only partial relief. He said a 40-50% reduction in symptoms and I feel that I achieved at least 60% if not more relief. I also suffer from back pain. I have been referred to orthopedic physicians for injections and physical therapists for physical therapy. I went to an acupuncturist. Nothing helped. After one session, the entire right side of my face became un-clenched (and "unlocked" -- those with TMJ will know what I'm talking about). I cannot believe the huge improvement. I will definitely be going back to Wildwood Medicine (continued treatment is recommended, at least for a few weeks) for both this issue and other issues as well. Also, there are several things I really love about this clinic: -- EXTREMELY professional staff; I work in the healthcare industry, and I can say with confidence that the patient care and facilities here are top-notch -- They take credit/debit cards (unlike many other acupuncture places) -- They allow walk-ins! -- Sliding scale from $20-40 for each regular visit ($30-50 the first visit). I was getting a bit nervous because the time window was closing for my baby to move. I began seeing Dr. Stacey around 35 or 36 weeks pregnant when something like 95% of babies have gotten into head-down position (and 1-3% of those stay breech). So it was a great relief to be seen right away and I was impressed with the holistic level of concern and assessment using the latest technology. Dr. Stacey explained everything and on my second appointment was able to show me a visual of my spine and sacrum and talk through problem spots. We also began adjusting to make optimal space for baby, including massaging round ligaments. After just 5 adjustments our footling breech baby flipped at 37 weeks! Sweet relief! It's wonderful that this office offers walk-in appointments when you have an issue. Actually, I didn't exactly walk in: SPD pain (thanks pregnancy hormones!) caused me to limp into the office, but after a simple adjustment walk out normally--on more than one occasion. Truly amazing. Sara and Buffy at the front desk/on the phones couldn't be nicer and the waiting room always has water, tea, and fruit available, as well as a separate play space for children.
