I was super excited to go to this place and get some insight into my skin for hormonal acne issues. Was there for only 25 mins and that included waiting too. The dermatologist saw me for only 5 mins. Didn't look at my skin but immediately told me what meds I should be prescribed upon. Didn't even ask about the products I currently use or what type of skin I have. Nothing. It was a terrible doctor patient relationship. So I'm hoping the meds will work in roger to make up for the abysmal check up that they did. read more

This is the place to go if you want your biopsies to be LOST. They biopsied a mole on me a couple years ago, and after a couple weeks of waiting for results and calling them trying to get more information, they finally admitted it had been lost. They claimed it was the first time that it had ever happened. My wife recently had a mole biopsied by a different doctor in this same practice, and they lost her biopsy. Again they said this was the first time it had ever happened, but we know that isn't true. Clearly there is something deficient with this practice's controls and how they handle their biopsies--not something you want in a doctor's office. read more

I am writing this review because it is the second time I have a problem with Dr. Agnes Chang. I started as a patient of Dr. Ratner. He looked into two moles for abnormalities. Very nice doctor, caring and serious. Last year I had to see him and he wasn't there so Dr. Chang looked into some eczemas I had in my feet and prescribed a medication that didn't work. Had to go back and have Dr. Ratner prescribe a medication that solved the problem. Last friday I had an alergy reaction and again Dr. Ratner wasn't there. I was so desperate that I decided to give Dr. Chang a second chance. She sounded very nice but prescribed some strong antibiotics without realizing that I am diabetic!! I had dangerous numbers throughout the weekend and called on Monday three times. I was told she wasn't there, but that she would get back to me on Tuesday first thing. They recommended to discontinue but as the rash could come back if the antibiotics are not finished, she would call with a new prescription. Wednesday afternoon and nobody called. She didn't even call to check on my blood sugar or to recommend a way to continue the treatment. I spoke to the assistant again and just said "Dr. Chang said it was ok to discontinue" and that was it.... so here I am... with a half way treatment trying to find another Dermatologist who actually cares!!! I have never felt so rushed to leave a doctor's office. Victoria Bennis is a horrible PA, not because of her qualifications, but because she is so obviously fake toward her patient and does not deliver adequate care. She prescribed me acne treatment, but when I came back two weeks later on another matter, she did not even ask how it was going or check my skin. While she was all smiles when talking to me, the minute she switched to talking with her medical assistant, she seemed annoyed and impatient. I will be looking for a different dermatologist in the future. Hopefully I'll find one who checks up on the treatment they prescribed. read more

I've been to three different dermatologists in the DC area and I cannot say enough wonderful things about IDKS. I've had severe acne for the past 15 years and have never been able to find a routine and products that really work for my skin. The other dermatologists didn't even take a look at my skin before suggesting Accutane or other topicals. Those appointments lasted only a little over 5 minutes. Victoria Bennis was completely different. She took photos and did a close-up examination of my face before she prescribed me different medications that really got to the root of my acne. She took the time to really listen to me and make sure that I agreed with her plan of treatment. Everyone has been incredibly kind and helpful at the office and I can't wait to go back for another follow-up. I highly recommend IDKS! read more

Dr. Chang is wonderful, but she needs to fire her administrative staff. I spent 25 minutes on the phone to straighten our their RX mistake--being put on hold and then transferred to the wrong people two times. Problem was eventually resolved, but wasted much of my time. Hope they get it together soon. read more

Dr. Chang is one of my favorite doctors in DC! She's warm and friendly without wasting your time. She listens to her patients and clearly explains treatment options. If you like to waffle over your treatment plan for a while, then she may not be the best for you. But when I go in to a doctor, I want to walk out with a plan and hopefully an initial treatment. I had to see her every 2 weeks for almost 2 years to treat several planter's warts on my feet. If you've ever been treated for these, you know that the treatment is super painful. Dr. Chang was always encouraging, even cheering me on through one last blast of cryo therapy when my pain tolerance was low. She gave me a huge hug the day I came in and was finally clear of the stupid things. Her front desk staff have always been great to me, especially since we saw each other so often. (I mean, I have friends I see less regularly). But I've heard from several friends, those who recommended her and those who I've recommended her to, that it's hard to get an appointment with her now. That's because she's good! If you can wait to see her, then do! read more

Allison, the PA, expertly removed three moles for me. She carefully examined them first and patiently and thoroughly explained the process and the potential outcomes. Now several months later, they've healed wonderfully - totally flat. I've had many moles removed over the years by doctors, but Allison did a better job than any of them! The medical service I received was satisfactory, however, the admin staff is no good. I was never notified that I owed a $40 copay for a skin screening. This is something that the person at the front desk should have known immediately when I checked in and gave them my insurance information and I could have paid at the time of the appointment. After the appointment I was never contacted about the copay that I owed. I never received a bill or even a phone call notifying me that I had an unpaid balance which I would have paid immediately. The only reason that I now know that I owed $40 is because I have been monitoring my credit report and found out that they had the audacity to send it to collections with zero attempt to contact me. This is a completely unacceptable billing practice. My credit score has now dropped 50 pts over a matter of $40 because of this office was too lazy to send me a bill. read more

Dr. Chang is overrated. I'd gone to her several times to help me with issues I had with acne flare-ups prior to my wedding. After prescribing 4 different medications over a period of several months, none of which worked I was beginning to think that I was more of a guinea pig used in trial and error treatments and that she didn't really know what she was doing. Mind you, this is along with a daily (6 out of 7 day) workout regimen and a healthy minimally processed food diet and yes, I DO wash my face. I also wasn't a huge fan of her curt, stoic manner. She was always fully booked that she didn't really give you time to ask her questions and when she did it was as an afterthought as she had one foot out the door already after she's tried to push several products on you. It was a revolving door of patients and the most time you got to spend were with her college interns who haven't had proper training to begin with! But the tip of the iceberg and why I'll never go back is that the one day in your life that you are supposed to look your best, your wedding, she was unavailable. I'd been working long hours in the 3 months leading up to my wedding and the couple of weeks leading up, my acne flare ups were particularly bad. She'd previously said if you have anything abysmal, come in and we can do a cortisone injection, which literally takes 2 minutes. I called the week of my wedding and they were completely booked but I kept calling back until I managed to score a cancellation. The receptionist told me 2PM on a Thursday (2 days before my wedding). That's when I showed up. When I arrived, they said that I got the time incorrect and that it was supposed to be 1PM. I know for a fact i didn't mishear because i repeated the date and time 2x after our original call and marked it down. The receptionist was particularly rude and basically said, sorry you missed your time slot her schedule is full. I asked her if I could wait for her for when she frees up and she said no, she won't be free she has 2 more appts after and I was well what about after that? and she said no, she had to go home. So then I sat there and cried. 2 days before my wedding and the receptionist was a heartless btch and there was "nothing" they could do. I asked if I could just quickly speak with agnes. and they said no. and then the receptionist had the audacity to ask me to leave because I was disturbing the practice. read more

Hear my story............... I was referred by friend's friend to see Dermatologist, Dr. Agnes Chang. It seems to me that she has been an effective skin doctor. Initially, I had called in to make an appointment with no one else, but Dr. Chang. I was told that in order to make an earlier appointment I should get online to book for the appointment. I did what I was told and was able to make the appointment with Dr. Chang online and printed out the appointment letter with her picture along with the date and time. The letter clearly printed "Appointment with Agnes Chang, MD, FAAD." I had also made an arrangement of day off from my hourly paid job and thought that this visit should be worth of leaving some time off to consult with this effective doctor. I took 40 minutes Metro and 15 minutes walk to the place. I arrived earlier than the scheduled time. The worker requested me to fill out a new patient form 6 pages long. I was exciting to see Dr. Chang. Soon after, they called my name and I followed a nurse to the other room. The nurse, Emily, asked me few basic questions about my skin care then said to me that "Dr. Arnold is ready to see you." I puzzled and said, "I am here to see Dr. Chang." I showed her the letter I printed out with picture and correct date and time. There was a pause of silence. Then she referred me to a Big Fat Lady for further discussion. The Big Fat Lady, without any apologetic manner or facial expression, said to me coldly "Dr. Chang is on vacation. The earlier appointment for you is either the end of Dec. or Jan. 2012. You can either see Dr. Arnold now and make another appointment with Dr. Chang next time" (With do it now or out of the door attitude) I thought to myself "what it is? Is this a joke or what? What attitude she is having there? " I have this sense of being cheated or tricked. They should have known that I was there for Dr. Chang ever since I walked in to the door and waited all this time. My heart raised a stream of anger. I wonder how many times they have tricked other patients like that. If you were me, what would you do? Comments are welcome. read more

I'm usually an easy going person and never write bad reviews because I feel everyone deserves a 2nd chance. But in this case, I wish I could give Dr. Chang and her associates a rating even lower than 1 star. I first called the office in Nov 2015 requesting an appointment with Dr. Chang. I was told that the next available appointment will be in Feb 2016. OK then. I was disappointed but I still booked my appointment. Come Feb 2016, the day of my appointment, I'm looking forward to meeting Dr. Chang but something tells me to call and confirm, just in case. I call her office and say that I'm on my way and they tell me that Dr. Chang will not be able to see me as "she's not taking any new patients". What? Seriously? You make me wait almost 5 months and don't have the decency to go through with the appointment or even call me and tell me you have to cancel? "We tried calling you in January" but I didn't get any call from you! "I guess we have the wrong number for you". Gee, thanks so much for this lame excuse and thanks for this stellar customer experience. I felt SO special. read more

I have been here twice, and both were unpleasant experiences. The staff here are unfriendly and unhelpful. They demand all your personal information before they can tell you if you they have an appointment available. Parking costs around $15 an hour. If you are over 15 minutes late, they will cancel your appointment, but I arrived on time and still had to wait 20 minutes. Follow-up visit was a waste of time. They charge $114 to talk to a physician assistant (Kalen Ashford) for 10 minutes. They overbilled my insurance by almost 100%. When I tried to pay for my second appointment, they insisted on (over-)billing my insurance first again. Even the pharmacy here (Foer's, which is separate) was a nightmare. I went to Integrated Dermatology for four visits and I have experienced better. First off, I came i for a liitle bit of redness/irritation on my face and I thought it would be a quick fix...wishful thinking! I was prescribed a full bottle of medicated lotion as well as a mild antibiotic. When the first prescriptions diidn't work after using them correctly and for ,like, two months, I went back and she prescribed THE SAME MEDICINE after telling me that the medicine wasn't working and she wasn going to give me something different....yea, different brand name, but not a different medicine...the new stuff had the exact same medicine that was in the other stuff!!! and it was only samples!!! I actually asked her for metrogel and then she gives me a sample!!! The sample was the only thing that actually worked! I get a feeling that she just wants money, instead of really helping you. She wants you to keep comming back, i mean, think about it, if she cures you, you won't be back, and therefore she doesn't get money, no repear clients. Also, the office billed me two $50 bills for "no shows", but i never received an appointment call the days before...although, yes, i did sign a form stating that they could charge me if I didn't show.. but, really, $50? i mean, where are they getting these figures from? their butt? As a doctor, you should be sensitive and not charge fees like that you get enough money already especailly when you don't do anything TAKE CAUTION AND GO TO SOMEONE WHO TAKES TIME WITH YOU AND ACTUALLY LIKES TO SEE IMPROVEMENT read more

Unfortunately I am just reviewing this on the front desk and their appointment booking as I never actually got to see Dr. Chang. Nearly 4 months ago I made my appointment with her, and last week, 6 days before my appointment they cancelled it. When I asked for another appointment and that I'd waited over 3 months they said they could book me in with a different doctor. Clearly I hadn't waited this long to see anyone else. So, I guess my advise is, if you can get past their office staff's discrepancies it sounds like you'll have a nice dermatologist! read more

Dr. Chang is efficient, clear and knows what she's doing. Plus she takes most insurance. At first I thought this was one of those places where they focus mostly on cosmetic dermatology because that appears to be one of their specialties. But look at Dr. Chang's credentials and you'll see she is expert on all diseases of the skin including cancer. She figured out a face problem I had for like 20 years and made it go away. I went here for an annual skin exam recently and had a very pleasant experience. I had no issue with the front desk and I did not have a long wait. I met with the PA Allison, who was very professional, thorough, and nice. She asked me if I had any other concerns, and I mentioned something that's been bothering me basically my whole life but I never felt compelled to visit a doctor for specifically. She gave me a prescription and a sample, and they've totally taken care of the issue. I'm kicking myself for not going sooner. I went to the K Street location and saw one of the PAs, Allison Hydzik, for a full body exam. This was my first time going to a dermatologist and it could not have been a better experience! Allison was thorough and friendly throughout the exam and very reassuring. She ended up removing a mole that has bothered my for years (not a health issue, just gets in the way) and the procedure was as close to painless as it could have been. I will not be returning to this office again. I went in for Cool Sculpting procedure and it was horrible. Allison would never return my call. Then Mr. Chang and I were playing telephone tag. Seems to be the story of the folks at Integrated Dermatology of K Street. It's impossible to get in touch with anyone. That's the problem I had along with the disappointment in the results of the Cool Sculpting procedure. The procedure is not all it's advertised to be. First of all the ladies in the commercial were so skinny they probably didn't have any fat on them from the beginning. My sister and I actually came in a few days before our procedures for an initial consultation. Allison thought we were good prospects and assured us we would be satisfied. On Thursday, February 25, 2016 I came in to have this procedure (my sister came in two days before). I was excited about what the results would be. First, all of the discomforts I had, and I had all of them, were true to form and were not minimal. I experienced the sensations, deep itching, tingling, numbness, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, muscle spasms, aching and soreness. These discomforts persisted way beyond the two weeks and on. I was told there would be no down time. However, if I was still working I would not have been in position to go to work. I couldn't fit anything around my waist and could not sit up for a long period of time without my stomach hurting. Allison was in touch with my sister but only called me one time but we never spoke. She left a message on my phone but every time I tried to call her (just like with you) she was either with a patient or not available. I even left on message on the website but no one called me back. I wasted $3,000 dollars on this procedure. Money I didn't have. I'm still trying to recover from that lost. I am a retiree who cannot afford to just GIVE money away. There should be a way to recover some of that money back (which I'm looking into now). It is now July 1 and still no results. Allison mentioned to my sister that we may have to come in and have another procedure done. Who can afford to give up another $3,000 especially knowing that the procedure won't work? That's ridiculous!!!! I hope something can be done about this. Seems this company was only interested in money and not trying to make sure patients are satisfied. I went to this place with high hopes only to leave feeling crushed and scammed. Their website and many "good" reviews had me thinking that this was the place to go. In fact, their website is misleading. They do not do all the services they show on it. Then I found the "bad" reviews at the bottom of the comments section (they are in the almost hidden little grey link) that touch on the terrible experience I went through. I was looking for a place to surgically remove cysts. I called their office to inquire not only about the surgery that they are supposedly qualified to do but also of prices for said procedure. The receptionist said they couldn't give prices, which I quickly called bs on and asked for an estimate, the range. I explained that I absolutely understood that I could not get a set price over the phone, but I needed to know what the most is that I could be charged since I had no insurance at the time and needed to bring in enough cash to pay for it. I was given a price range of 45$-300$, it would all depend on size and where cyst is. Okay! I said, thank you very much and hung up to call other places. The other ones I called had no problem letting me know what they charged but I wouldn't be able to get an appointment for some time. I call Integrated Dermatology back, couldn't have been more than 20 minutes after the first call to them and said I wanted to make an appointment to have one cyst removed figuring I would go back to do the other at a later time. Since this was a different person I asked about the prices I got before to verify what I might need to bring and the person was confused, put me on hold for a minute then came back with a different set of prices. 75$-350$. Also adding that I might not get to have the surgery that day, that I would need the initial evaluation/diagnosis first. I stressed about money being an issue, but also knew that this would be a losing battle at almost any place I go to- that I need to pay more only to set up next appointment for actual work. But I did have high hopes after reading a review about someone's husband going in for something else, pointing out a cyst and having it removed right then and there. Fingers crossed, but nothing I would cry about if it didn't happen that day. The office looked nice, I felt comfortable. Fast. Easy. In no time was taken back and saw an assistant. I pointed out the two obvious cysts which were measured and checked. I asked about the tiny spot I had close to my armpit. Was told it was also a cyst. NOTE: It is only a miniscule blackhead and requires absolutely nothing as I found out later from a different dermatology practice. I was then told... They can't remove ANY of them. Here are the "reasons" and excuses. The one on my face: Since it's on my face (it is really just slightly off the tragus of my ear and the size of a small pea), it is too dangerous and needs to be done by a plastic surgeon, even after my protests that I could care less about a scar. "The ones on the face, I won't touch them!". The one on my back: "It is too large." Apparently this one, which I have had for years and is about the size of a grape can only be worked on by a surgeon. The not-really-a-cyst close to armpit: "It is too small." I was getting clearly upset so I was told that even if they could do them, they couldn't do them that day anyway. When I said that was fine, kind of expected not to get them removed same day- was told that they don't DO THEM THERE AT ALL! They are not set up as that kind of facility. I KID YOU NOT! Apparently I have the cysts of Goldilocks! And their answer to my dilemma, to what would be "just right" for me, is nothing more than referrals to other doctor's and a really affordable*sarcasm* plastic surgeon! Should I assume they send every patient with cysts somewhere else after telling them twice on the phone that THEY DO REMOVE THEM, telling them twice what the price range for REMOVING cysts is and then CHARGING 75$ for the visit! If I wasn't so shaken, I would have walked straight out and told them to shove it. But I tend to be the kind of person who thinks of the great things I should have said much later, after things are over. sigh To be honest, this seems like misrepresentation or fraud. I was lead to believe they could perform the service they offer, only to be told they can't and then that they don't. And then charged for it. A 75$ lesson that kept me out of any dermatologist's office for a very long time. read more

I haven't really had any issues with integrated dermatology's medical services, but I have had serious issues with their billing practices. They charged $100+ worth of lab services to a provider not covered by my insurance (despite assurances that this would not be the case), then provided no way for me to dispute this charge or get some kind of a refund. I have tried multiple times to call and get this taken care of, but Integrated Derm repeatedly referred me to some call center in Boca Raton to "fix this." I paid this bill just to get rid of it, but I will be filing a complaint with the Washington DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. read more

Warning! Find another dermatology practice if at all possible. I have been going to this practice for about 20 yrs. since it was called "University Dermatology". Their best dermatologists seem to leave after a few years. Last November I was seen for the first time by Dr.Ratner because I had a severe skin condition. Within a few minutes he diagnosed me as having severely dry skin & sent me off with a perscription. After a few weeks of applying the topical ointment with no results, I asked my pcp to refer me to another dermatologist. This new dermatologist immediately was concerned with my skin condition & suggested it could be the result of a lymphoma. I was sent for tests which proved him correct. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. Last week I finished up 6 months of chemotherapy & am happy to say I am now in remission. I will never return to "Integrated Dermatology" & believe their misdiagnosis could have resulted in a much different outcome for me. read more

This is my very first time giving a poor review online, but I feel compelled based on a very disappointing experience with this practice. When I called to make an appointment for a treatment, I made sure to get detailed pricing information. I am on a budget, so the details were important to me. I was told there was a mandatory consultation appointment which would cost $195, but that the consultation fee would be applied towards my first treatment. Only after I paid the $195 consultation fee, had the short consultation with Dr. Gonzales, and went to make my first treatment appointment, did they disclose for the first time that I would need to put down an additional $300 deposit towards future treatments. They required this even though I was electing to pay for each treatment individually rather than purchasing a 6-treatment package. I suggested that I put down an additional $105 so that my first treatment would be pre-paid, but they insisted on an additional $300 up front. When I inquired about the 6-treatment package, they told me that they did not allow patients to use any of the 6 treatments in the package for future maintenance appointments, which is confounding. The reception staff was very curt and almost seemed to be making up the rules as they went along. read more

Extremely satisfied! Ms. Allison and her nurse are the best!!!! I came in for a wart removal service, which I've been dealing with for a couple of months now. Ms. Allison knew exactly what it was and was able to address the issue right away, which I was happy to hear since sandal season is approaching. She explained the issue, the steps that she would be doing to correct the issue, and how to take care of it; very thorough. I wanted to give them a big hug but didn't; however, I know that they could tell I was a happy customer and appreciated their services. The commute was worth it! There's valet parking garage on the same street, maybe 3-4 stores away, which was very convenient since I'm not a city person. My experience from beginning to end, including the receptionists and check-out cashier, was awesome! Even though I don't have any more dermatology issues now, I can't wait to go back. I recently developed a spot on my face that seemed suspicious and I wanted to get it checked out, I'd seen my mom's derm once years ago (in another state) but had never seen one regularly. I was under the impression that most dermatologists have year long wait lists for new patients and rarely accept insurance. So when I found this place I was immediately interested. In addition to the fact that they accept my insurance, the K street office is a 2 minute walk from my office and opens a full hour before I have to be at work. I was pleasantly surprised when I called to schedule an appointment and one of the physicians assistants, Allison Hydzik, had an opening for a new patient in 2 weeks. The office staff was friendly, the waiting room was relaxing and I really liked Allison. She was warm and outgoing and treated the issue on the spot with a quick painless procedure. She also talked to me about what sunscreen I was already using and gave me a sample of a face sunscreen she really likes. If you're looking for a new dermatologist. I really recommend this place. My experience certainly wasn't representative of the negative reviews people have posted and after finding most of my new doctors via Yelp, I've learned to take reviews for doctors offices in particular with a grain of salt. read more
