I chose Mi Skin Dermatology Center because I saw online that the doctor was a board certified dermatologist. The consultation was free and I met with a nurse, who told me she would also be doing the procedure. The nurse was great during the consultation and the procedure. I decided on traditional micro needling for face and neck that they charge $850 (thats for ONE individual session, I originally thought that included my first 3 sessions, it does not). I also had to buy a $200 serum. I'm disappointed after the procedure for a few reasons. I never even met the board certified dermatologist, which is the entire reason I went there. I would have loved if she would've at least looked at my skin and provided her input. I read on reviews here that she at least meets the patients, but she did not come to meet me. My biggest issue is I never received a call from the center to follow up on my healing or to even schedule my next appointment. I called myself multiple times and never received a call back. I'm disappointed in the lack of customer service. I paid $1050 for a 30 minute procedure and no follow up. I might as well have went somewhere else for the same procedure and paid less. read more

Terrific first experience - the staff is top notch especially Laura - so knowledgeable and friendly and approachable. Dr. Isaac emphasizes a conservative approach and offered a touch-up if I need a little more filler, but she really errs in the side of caution which I very much appreciate. Botox and fillers cost about 30% more than my previous dermatologist but I think it's worth it to go to someone so knowledgeable and skilled. In the last I've always bruised extensively but she used an infrared light so she avoided my veins. I couldn't believe the difference: other than one small bruise I had virtually no bruising. I used a small amount of foundation to cover it and it was barely noticeable. In the past I've bruised so much that I've had to get injections on a Friday so I had three days out of work because even using the popular YouTube video (the color theory red lipstick plus concealer trick) the bruising was very noticeable. I really couldn't believe the difference. I'm scheduling a time for a touch-up because one area wasn't filled enough to where it was diminished much but I'd much rather have a dermatologist who skews very conservative then can boost things a bit than to be over-injected and have to wait for 3-6 months for things to wear off (which I've had to do twice in the past). Despite being a loyal patient of Dr. Isaac for several years now, I can no longer patronize her business. First- she doesn't take any health insurance. Second, her prices are crazy high. Third, she (or her staff) tries to sell you a ton of products at outrageous prices (seems more like a spa than a Drs. office) And the final straw was when she no longer authorizes prescription refills over the phone... she makes you come into the office for an appointment and give her another couple hundred dollars... even for a simple refill of a topical lotion! I would agree with the other reviews here... she seems much more interested in making money than treating patients. As a result, my money will be going elsewhere. read more

I know a doctor's reputation is serious business, but I have to be very honest. I was a patient of Dr. Issac for about a year and change - I was excited when I first came in to see her because she seemed sympathetic, young, and ready to tackle my problem skin. However, every time I went in to see her, I noticed she asked me nothing about my regimen and proceeded to prescribe the latest new products, regardless of what I had been using the last time I saw her. The final straw came when I went in for a Fraxel treatment - a skin resurfacing laser treatment touted by her office as a painless way to lessen acne scarring. When I came in, they hadn't scheduled enough time to prep me for the procedure, and were rushed. They barely had enough time to let the topical anesthetic start to work. Maybe it was this fact that led to the procedure being so painful - believe me, there is NOTHING painless about someone taking a laser to your face. It was probably the worst medical experience I've ever had. By the time it was over I was crying and shaking - the assistant had the gall to comment with some disdain that I seemed to have more sensitive skin than anyone she'd seen undergo the procedure. When it was finally over and I could sort of talk, I asked if I could stay in the room for a couple of minutes to recover - she told me they had no time to let me do that and I could recover in the waiting room if I wanted until my designated driver could come pick me up (keep in mind my face was still blue from the dye they put on your skin to guide the laser, and swollen from the procedure). No thanks!! Dr. Issacs also never came back in to check on me once the procedure was over. She came in, sat down, tortured my face, and left. So basically I was forced to sit in the waiting room for about 25 awful minutes, trying to stop shaking and crying, while other patients looked at me and wondered who let the monster in! HORRIBLE!!! Finally, the office is supposed to call you the day after the procedure to make sure everything is alright - not once did I get a call. They sent me home with the wrong materials (according to the "after procedure care" list they gave me), AND - worst of all - the procedure not only didn't help, but actually made my skin situation WORSE. The office did tell me several times I would be back to work after a weekend, but it was months before my face had actually recovered enough so that I wasn't hideously self-conscious every time I left my house. In a word: be warned! I don't think this is the doctor to see for anything other than mild cosmetic care. read more

Dr. Isaac is top notch. I don't understand all the low ratings. Usually when you see a bunch of 1 & 2 star ratings, there is a real problem. I've been to her office several times over the last couple years and not only is her staff really easy to work with and enthusiastic, but she has always come and spoke to me personally about any procedure. I've been to a lot of dermatology, cosmetic surgeons, and aesthetician offices on both coasts and rarely does the top doc at the office come speak with you every time. In fact, often, most places you won't see the top doctor unless you're scheduling one of the more expensive and challenging procedures. You usually get an assistant. She has always spoke with me face to face about whether she thinks a procedure is necessary or the right one for me personally. And, she never tried to talk me into a more expensive procedure -- if anything she seemed to be the one pumping the brakes! I trust her judgement and would recommend her to friends and family. read more

I went to see Dr. Issac for a skin issue as a new patient, and her staff was welcoming, quick and friendly. However, I was waiting for nearly 30 minutes in the exam room before the doctor entered, and when she did, she did not introduce herself, apologize for the delay or ask me questions. There were several times that she asked her nurse questions about me, as if I weren't there ("is she allergic to anything, is she on birth control, etc."). Because of my personal situation, she was unable to prescribe the medication she would prefer to resolve the matter, and she seemed dismissive after that. There was no bedside manner and no alternatives provided, except the ones I specifically requested (injections, antibiotics). While I can appreciate that she may not have been able to assist in the manner I was hoping, this is a cash business. The office does not accept insurance and the prices are a bit high compared to the other dermatologists in the area. In that case, there should be a bit of customer service that Dr. Issac's staff certainly had, but she failed to show. Because insurance does not typically cover the services I require, I have a choice in selecting my physician - and sadly, I won't be going back. Perhaps its better for treatments like Botox, laser treatments and skin peels, based on other reviews. read more

They've helped me control my rosacea (which anyone who struggles with it knows it's an uphill battle) and always works with me and my husband to slow the aging process through maintenance not drastic change .. the approach we both believe in as we head into our 50s. First visit was satisfactory though costly (especially when sold products at double the cost everywhere else). Came for follow up and was seen at 4:24 for a 3:50 appointment and by 4:35, Dr. Isaac was out the door. It would have been a 5 minute visit if I had not asked reasonable and relevant questions about treatment as she had one foot out the door. This would all be understandable for a busy doctor with more important patients paying for more expensive cosmetic treatments if the routine followup fee were not the same exorbitant price as the original visit. I wasted time here. I called a couple of times and emailed to receive quotes for a medium-depth chemical peel. When I got to the office, the doctor was unavailable to do the peel, and an aesthetician offered to do it. Staff also tried to upsell me by offering laser instead. Before starting the peel, staff noted that the price was double what I had been quoted on the phone. This poor communication and little effort to make it right make me give this business one star. This is my first review. I am writing because I had a very different experience at Dr. Isaac's. I certainly don't mean to discredit others' experiences, but I felt compelled to write a review. I went in for botox. First, I found the price to be reasonable with what I've paid in the past. She numbed the area, and it all went very well. What I really appreciate is that she took notice of some of my skin issues, suggested a reasonably-priced prescription face wash, and gave me some free samples to try. I felt this was going beyond what I came in for. It's early after my treatment, but I was very satisfied from my visit! The samples she provided are already helping. I will admit that the visit ran a little late, but it was very worth it in the end. I spent the time on an ipad and checking out magazine in the waiting room. Just want to say that I have had a great experience with Melda Isaac. My skin has never looked so good. She has taken ten years off my face without surgery. She is expensive, she does strongly suggest the newest and in her opinion best products, most of which that are either prescription or medical grade, which I have used as directed with great results. . I just keep looking better and better and I give her the credit. Why not 5 stars, well, she does have some issues with her staff, some are great others are not and she has a fair bit of turnover. And she doesn't take AmEx. PS. I had gone to Cultura in DC before and that was more expensive and had terrible experiences on more than one occasion and while some people rave about it, will never ever go back . Dr. Isaac knows what she is doing! I would trust her completely with recommending a procedure for my skin. I went to see her at a friend's suggestion because my skin was horrendous with acne and scars. I used wrong homeopathic medicine and I thought my skin would be scarred forever. She suggested what medicine I should go on and my skin dramatically improved. She is expensive though and her staff can be a bit wishy-washy with pricing. So if you go to her make sure they give you an authentic price before hand. read more

Melda is my doctor and she has even taken care of my young children as a special exception when special skincare situations have come up for them. I trust her implicitly. She is kind and sympathetic, very real and down to earth. She offers the information to allow you to make the choice between the CVS $10 solutions available and the $1000 per treatment solutions and everything in between. I have never felt pressured to spend money. She is a doctor not a beautician. She is who I would see to save my life if it was skin cancer. It's a nice convenience for my vanity that she is excellent on cosmetic procedures too. read more

This is kind of an embarrassing yelp review (and it's my first one!) but I feel like Dr. Isaac deserves to have my story shared. So I had quite the experience with Dr. Isaac. Long story short, it was eleven days before my wedding, I was out of town, and I was having a BACNEmergency. For health reasons I had to stop taking birth control about four months before my wedding and had crazy hormonal side effects, one of which was pretty bad acne popping up all over my back a few weeks before my wedding. Gross. I tried taking care of my acne myself since I've never had issues with is before, but my screwed up hormones didn't want to cooperate and I found myself, two weeks away from a strapless shoulder-baring wedding dress, freaking out. A couple of other DC area derms laughed in my face when I explained the emergency and asked for an appointment ASAP ("we aren't booking new patients for another month or two, sweetie."). Dr. Isaac's receptionist , on the other hand, listened with care (I was slightly sobbing by this point- my back looked BAD) and she was genuinely on my side. She said that I would probably have to wait a while, but she could squeeze me in since it was an emergency. I actually ended up waiting a grand total of three minutes before a really kind nurse brought me to the back and listened to my issues (still slightly sobbing). She calmed me down a little and Dr. Isaac came in. She was super helpful, very comforting, and spent AT LEAST thirty minutes checking out my back and talking me through The Plan. She put me on a couple of medications for two weeks (since it was an emergency) and gave me specific instructions. Within a week, my back was WAY more clear and it looked perfect by my wedding day. Dr. Isaac also took time to consult on the phone with me twice during the week leading up to my wedding to make sure that my dosage was correct and that I was getting better. She was incredibly patient, competent. and thorough. And she helped me out in a time of desperate need, knowing that I was out of town and won't even turn into a regular customer. Do NOT go here for cool-sculpting! It does NOT work! I went for a consultation and was sold on a cool-sculpting package that guaranteed results. The procedure was extremely painful. I was sick afterwards and experienced side effects for over a month. The nurses were not helpful in the least bit. I've spent a ton of money on this procedure and have yet to see any results. Save your money and hire a personal trainer instead. read more

Very unhappy with my service - I scheduled a 6 month treatment program at a fairly exorbitant cost to myself on accutane. Due to a screw up from the administration side - I was unable to get my prescription for over a month, despite multiple calls to the office . Now, I have to restart my whole treatment all over again! I highly recommend coming here they are the best ! I had acne for 6 years and I've tried everything to clear up my skin but it made it even worse by drying it out and inflamed . The previous dermatologist I went to didn't even acknowledge seeing my skin , they just prescribed harsh medicines that made it worse. When I came here the skin care treatment that Laura put me on is working out great and it's only been a week but I've seen so much improvement . I've never seen my skin look this tamed, clear, and healthy looking in a long time .I love the staff , they are so happy and eager to help you out . I spent quite some time reading Dr. Isaac's reviews prior to visiting her office and decided to schedule an appointment. I had specifically indicated what my condition was and also mentioned that my skin was extremely sensitive. I spent over $600 on face products and after a couple of days of use, my skin had worsened. I went back to the provider paid for more products, but my skin was worsening. she then proceeded to give me a bunch of sample acne products to use on my face, which clearly was a red flag considering the state my skin was already in. I finally determined that I could no longer afford paying for office visits and products which lead to worser conditions. read more
