I knew I had some sort of emotional connection to eating: stress, transitioning to an empty nester, instability in my job, and overall "I don't care-ism". In addition, I was a picker (stoppickingonme.com) and my face was a mess. I did have inner joy through my faith, but I wasn't happy with my physical appearance. I tried lots of fad diets, most recently the HGC and then a 30 day juice fast. I could lose about 20 pounds, but because of the underlying issues I would return to my old stress eating habits. In August 2015, a friend told me about Ideal Protein and that she had lost about 30 pounds. I made an appointment with Sherene, and after that orientation meeting the lightbulb went off: I was addicted to carbs which caused the need to stress eat and that caused inflammation which caused my skin breakouts. I went home with the bag of IP food and supplements that very day. What made the difference is the science behind the diet and NOT to approach this alone. With…read moregreater than 99% adherence to the program over 14 weeks my results were well short of expectations that were highly touted by the saleswoman at the beginning. Two weeks before I completed the program an employee congratulated me that I had already qualified for graduation and should feel very happy with my results. With one week left a different employee told me I was not on track to qualify for graduation and was given wrong information the week prior. On the last day the original girl who mislead me downplayed the importance of graduating. Asking me over and over why I "needed" their validation. Without qualifying for graduation I wasn't eligible for the lifetime free maintenance program. Validation had nothing to do with it...value for my time, efforts and money was the motivation. With a general knowledge through basic research one can obtain the same results for a small fraction of the costs while avoiding the memorized counseling script that the employees repeat week after week.
