The conclusion was that we could probably just eliminate the canopy and retain the key functionality of the hood. 90 minutes of hard work ensued, mostly by him, but ably assisted by my wife and (occasionally) me, and it was done! In three weeks, I noticed a burning smell from the microwave for more than a day even after stop using it. I immediately reported to LG services and they connected with this company They sent out a guy (Manny) and he diagnosed that it needs replacement of a part and told me that he will return with a new part. Two days after, the company sent another guy (Santos) and he asked me to explain what's the issue as if he never heard the previous report. Then, he heated a half cup of water for one minute (after several days of power disconnected, cooled-off) and concluded there is no issue. Ironically, he said it's SAFE to use it, but he DISCONNECTED the power cord when he left. I requested the company to send me copies of the two original reports from both technicians, but they haven't done so and submitted to LG only the first report. The Company representative said EVEN IF any fire took place, the company has no responsibility for it because it was FINE when the second guy tested. It seems like their goal is to get paid from LG. They received the compensation for their services from LG.
