His quote was detailed and straight to the point. He needed to refinish my floor and add flooring to an area where a fireplace was taken out. During process he saw termite issues on the subfloor and wrinkling of the hardwood due to lack of growth space. He fixed both issues. He came on time and finished under the promised timeline with high quality work. His price was also reasonable as I compared it with other hardwood contractors. The ONLY downside was that I had to wait almost a month for his schedule to allow him to start my job. He and his 3 man crew showed up early the first day and got about 80% of the repairs (and there were A LOT), and the bulk of the sanding. He under promised and over delivered to a great degree. This company really seems to value doing quality work. The price was almost too good to be true. I was still finishing up two bathroom remodels on my own house and mentioned the rate I was given and those contractors said it was a VERY good rate. Over the last year I have had to hire several contractors for my own home and my experience had been overwhelmingly bad with contractors not showing up, doing half-assed work, taking time off to do other projects while I'm living in construction chaos. Cruz Hardwood Flooring restored my faith in contractors. I have refinished floors on my own before and it was a messy job. This company has amazing equipment that captures the dust created by sanding/buffing so there was ZERO mess. They installed more than 1000 sq ft (yes, that's not a typo!) of irregular terracotta tile throughout our great room and kitchen, and I could not be happier with the results. It's just the two of them so the project took time, but there are literally no mistakes. The precision is unparalleled. We loved the results so much that we quickly hired them to waterproof and tile a 100 sq ft bathroom. Our ideas for the space were less concrete, and Andrew was able to advise on how to best tackle tricky areas like the shelf and edge of the pony wall. Again, the result was magnificent. With the massive projects we tasked them with, they were working in our home for weeks, and we didn't even mind their extended stay given how courteous and clean they were. I sent an email out with the general spec and design, along with a photo of something similar to what we were looking for. He knew exactly what he was going to make, recommended wood to use for the table, and gave a clear quote for the work. Very professional communication with clear explanation. I kicked off the order quickly with a deposit, got a sketch to confirm the intended design with my wife (everything checked out) and a couple of weeks later got a confirmation on the color of the stain. We were looking to get the table before relatives were coming over internationally to visit us in our new house, and he delivered there as well! Finished piece was delivered a week ahead of our relatives showing up, and when my wife saw the table for the first time she said it was exactly what she was looking for! I asked if we could schedule a Friday Monday or two consecutive days the next week. He said they could do in one day, and it wouldn't be a rush job. Ok. Luciano arrived right on time on Friday morning at 815. He worked literally non stop. Left for more supplies, came right back and continued. I arrived home at 4pm. I told him we're fine with this going in to next week. He said no, he wanted to finish today. Ok. The way our house is set up, this area is right in the middle of all rooms, so we camped out in the den. For 5 hours! I was incredibly frustrated, it wasn't until 830-900 when he called us in. The first thing he said when I turned the corner was it's not a perfect match. I looked and strongly agreed. And told him so. John asked via text how I liked it. I told him. No reply. No options offered. Took my $1050 and we have an obvious repair job. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. Luciano's work was that of a craftsman. Except for the critical piece of color match. Far more brown than golden brown. See pic. I feel him working so long and into the evening, he rushed this important piece. He should have stopped when he realized he was on the wrong track color wise. I really wish he had. Proceed with caution. You'll need to follow up multiple times re: questions and communication. I texted John a question regarding our animals. No reply. I texted question regarding using Zelle or Venmo. No reply. I asked for our written agreement after he promised he'd send it. Never did. We had John quote us to restore our flooring, including repairing and installations of where there was no hardwood flooring (we tore out a built in, and one closet had no hardwood). There was dog pee stains, ground in grime, some termite damage, lots of holes from over zealous threading of cables over the 100 years of the homes time on earth - our home we had just recently purchased...needed help. We discovered after ripping out a built in, that our flooring...was lying on top of two other floors that were never removed. Wild. I cannot compliment the team enough, Luciano is a true craftsman - he cares. He ended up paying another plumber, and charged me top dollar ($1,000). The plumber deposited the trash including the old toilet on the street in front of my rental, causing my other tenants to complain. This is complete disrespect for the community (Long Beach). Ken would not call me too discuss...he would only text me demanding payment. I finally got him on the phone, and after a heated exchange, he threatened to put a lien on my property. This guy is a poor communicator and a lousy businessman. I plan to file a complaint with the Contractors State License Board and recover any costs incurred should he unlawfully place a lien on my property.

Kenny had been doing work in the building and came highly recommended. I asked Kenny to build some built ins on an abandoned roof top public area. He laid a floor down. Did an excellent job in constructing the built in, perfect pitch and very comfortable. He uses good quality product, follows your design, cleans up after himself every day, and has a very good crew. He is trust worthy and does an excellent job for a fair, good price. It is now a popular space and created a very nice amenity for the building. After he did such a good job in our common area I had him put a new kitchen in for me and redo my floor to ceiling metal windows. Once again he and his crew stepped up, did a great job, with as little disruption as possible for a good fair price. I mostly like when he runs into unforeseen situations he doesn't cut corners and does the best job that can be expected. I highly recommend Kenny and 5th Generation Construction.
