We had our old heater removed and needed the original floor matched and repaired. I spoke to the owner John and he said it would be a two day job. I asked if we could use wood from closets so it'd match perfectly. He said no, they use new wood and stain to match and they do one of these types of repair once a week and are very good at it. "Read our reviews" he said. Hence my review of caution. He was able to fit us in to their schedule quickly. But I think that was to our detriment. I asked if we could schedule a Friday Monday or two consecutive days the next week. He said they could do in one day, and it wouldn't be a rush job. Ok. Luciano arrived right on time on Friday morning at 815. He worked literally non stop. Left for more supplies, came right back and continued. I arrived home at 4pm. I told him we're fine with this going in to next week. He said no, he wanted to finish today. Ok. The way our house is set up, this area is right in the middle of all rooms, so we camped out in the den. For 5 hours! I was incredibly frustrated, it wasn't until 830-900 when he called us in. The first thing he said when I turned the corner was it's not a perfect match. I looked and strongly agreed. And told him so. John asked via text how I liked it. I told him. No reply. No options offered. Took my $1050 and we have an obvious repair job. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. Luciano's work was that of a craftsman. Except for the critical piece of color match. Far more brown than golden brown. See pic. I feel him working so long and into the evening, he rushed this important piece. He should have stopped when he realized he was on the wrong track color wise. I really wish he had. Proceed with caution. You'll need to follow up multiple times re: questions and communication. I texted John a question regarding our animals. No reply. I texted question regarding using Zelle or Venmo. No reply. I asked for our written agreement after he promised he'd send it. Never did. I had an old floor/wall heater removed when I installed central AC/heat. The company that did the AC took out the old heater but it left me with a hole in my wall and floor. I tried to find someone to repair both but nobody would do both the wall and the floor. I decided to first focus on the floor. I contacted several companies who do floors and was either told they don't do these repairs, or they'd have to redo the entire room. When I contacted Restore Your Floor, I was given a quote over the phone right away and was told they could come out on the Saturday coming up in a few days. The quote was reasonable so I booked them. Luciano and his team were great. They worked hard to make sure nothing was damaged. I was told it would take about 8 hours on Saturday and another 3 hours or so on Sunday to finish up. The timing was true (took about 4.5 hours on Sunday) but they did get a little behind when they realized they installed the wrong wood. However, Luciano quickly realized it and made sure to correct it. The team made sure they supported the hole, replaced the wood slates unevenly so it looks natural, and did a great job with staining. I am really impressed with their work. I can't even tell there was a repair done. They did a great job matching wood grain so it all matched. read more

Where to begin. We purchased a house which had some very abused floors. At the outset we were convinced that we'd have to have the lot pulled and replaced. On a whim we decided to get a second opinion we called RYFHF and another highly rated yelp floor refinisher. John came out, measured up and quoted me on the spot. His price was super reasonable and he was confident that there was still life in these floors. The other floor company told me that the floors weren't salvageable and that I would need to redo the lot at a cost around 3x the cost to refinish. Nelson and Arturo did the work and they were brilliant. Had the floor stripped back in 2 days, buffed it to a shine in another 2 and applied baseboards, stained and sealed in 3. The photos speak for themselves the job done is terrific. We are so glad we salvaged these floors and gave them a second life. Color is special walnut with wetting to open up the grain. My only tip is to keep on John as he's super busy and can miss calls or emails. read more

One bedroom: refinished hardwood. Second bedroom: removal of tack strips,Filling holes and polish. This company was not what it presented itself to be. The guy came out and told me he was a "one man crew" but a totally different group of guys (who barely spoke english) actually did the work and didn't even know I wanted the floor stained a specific color. Obviously the owner, John, just dumped the job off and didn't even take the time to explain it. The first bedroom came out nice. The second bedroom was a total waste. All they did was remove the tack strips. We had to call him back to fill the holes and he barely did that. He shoved discolored wood putty into the holes and left it like that which honestly made it look worse. No polishing was done whatsoever. It cost me $1,100 for this work and the rooms are only 10x10 I would NOT recommend this company. read more

Renovating a 1950 house. Called John to get an estimate. The estimate came in at what I had googled as going price per foot. John sent his floor man Nelson out to start the work on my floors. Nelson was on time and started to work. I was fortunate doing this the week of Christmas. I was able to leave while work was done. A week to sand, replace damaged boards and restain and then Nelson came back to seal. It takes a week. The sealer has a light smell. So it's better if you can arrange good timing for this process. Nelson showed me different stain choices and went back over different spots that were showing some old stains and I took the opportunity while the floor was stripped to replace a few more boards. My floors are finished and look absolutely beautiful. This company is very experienced at what they do. Prices are reasonable. Because of all the great reviews this company has, I felt confident in consulting with them with regard to having the hardwood floors in our house refinished. I telephoned the company and spoke with John, who was very pleasant and helpful on the phone. He asked me to text him a picture of our current flooring and assured me he would get back to me after I texted him the pictures. (Note: While we live in a very old house with original flooring, it is still in great condition considering its age.) We used RYF to restore the Douglas Fir subfloor in our living and dining rooms and Oak in our hallway and bedrooms. We were very impressed with the final result! John, the owner, and Luciano, the lead on the project, were both extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Both took the time to thoroughly educate and explain to us the work and cost of restoring our hardwood floors and installing baseboards with quarter rounds. John even took the time to call me on a Sunday morning to make sure I understood everything. Luciano was such a hard worker, even showing up at 4 am the last day to apply the final coat to the floors (we weren't living in the house at the time). Luciano and his team worked through the weekend, too, to ensure a timely finish. I never felt like they were rushed, though. Painters came in immediately once the floors were dry so we don't have final pictures of the floors yet (because they are covered to protect), but we will update this review with the end results. We had original red oak hardwood in the back of our house from 1955! We decided to install new hardwood for the living, dining kitchen area and refinish the back of the house to match. John who? In my case John was a voice on the phone. So why am I giving him 5 stars? Luciano. Luciano came out and bid the job. Luciano came out and did all the work. Luciano is one hell of a gem and he made John's business. About the job. The hardwoods were ruined. They had not been taken care of for at least six years and the prior owner (and then tenant) had two large dogs. One who happened to decide that the entry way to one of the rooms would double as a bathroom. That left 18 boards that were stained and needed to be replaced. Overall the floors were a wreck. I almost expected Luciano to say "give it up, put down carpet." But he didn't. He measured off the space and then I got the quote within 48 hours. It was one of three quotes and it was not the highest or the lowest. So why not go with the other two? Luciano. He asked questions and then told me exactly what he was quoting and why. He suggested a set of options and was very straight forward on what the upsides and downsides of all of the options were. I was GCing the remodel, and I was also doing a good portion of the work (not my usual line as I am a retired CTO). So, unlike many I was on-site every day, and even working on the project when Luciano was. Luciano gave me notice on when I could have other contractors there (working on the kitchen) and when I could not have anyone there. He worked with me helping set up a schedule that allowed work in other areas to progress while he was working. This alone cut three days off the project thus allowing for faster completion of the overall project. At one point Luciano needed to have a short day. Rather than telling me "I'm done for the day." Luciano explained the reason he had to go and asked if I was okay with that. Amazing. I wish all the contractors on the job were as thoughtful. The work was excellent. Luciano is a top quality craftsman. When completed the replaced 18 boards merged into the older boards 100%. If you had not seen the stained boards prior to the work, you wouldn't know that there were boards replaced. If I ever have a need for any hardwood work to be done in the future, the first call I will make will be to John, as long as he sends Luciano. I am pleased as punch, and can't sing the praises of Luciano , his work ethic, and his quality workmanship at his craft high enough. read more

Nelson came out and carefully walked through the process and the total square footage. Later that day, John gave us a quote which ended up being less than what he had initially thought. We cannot recommend this contractor. We obtained a written estimate to restore our hardwood floor and signed it and sent it back to them. After waiting around for them to be available and making the property available to them three times to make sure they were clear on the scope of work and could accurately estimate their costs for labor and materials, we were given an installation date. We then waited for that date to arrive, but the contractor did not start work as had been agreed. Instead, the owner came out and tried to increase the costs after we had already received a written proposal, signed it, and sent it back. Ultimately, after promising to send an updated proposal because the person assigned to do the work was, according to the owner, not willing to do it anymore due to a bad experience and complaint from another customer, we received an email from the owner saying he was backing out of the project. Every step in the process of working with this contractor was problematic, informational, and cumbersome. Making us wait around for an installation date and then backing out caused our house renovation project to be delayed by over a week until we found another contractor. read more
