Today was our second visit to Dr. Andy. We established records for our dog in May, since we had just moved to the area. Dr. Andy was very personable and spent time educating us about our new environment. He suggested a monthly meds that might be more appropriate for our pet. Our old guy had another visit today because of a miserable fungal infection along with allergy symptoms. I've been taking my pets to this vet for 2 or 3 years now and Dr Andy just keeps raising his prices. Nail trims were $17.00 when I first went there. Now he charges me $22.00. I had my dog neutered 2 weeks ago to the tune of $500.00+ not including a cone to prevent him from licking the wound. I was told that if I wanted one I would have to go to the pet store and buy one. Then today I returned to have the stitches removed and I was charged another $87.00 because they had to sedate my dog. $87.00 is a bit pricey for a Valium shot. I personally feel $500.00+ should have covered the entire procedure from beginning to end. Decide for yourself but I won't be using Dr Andy anymore if that's the way he treats his repeat customers. read more

Reads everything out of a book from the 90s. said he was going to trim my dogs fur around a problem area and unnecessarily shaved his whole back leg. my dogs breed cannot be shaven, as his guard hairs will never grow back. we will never go back to this vet. read more

I would say if you are just going in for a routine type visit such as shots or something they this is a fine place to go. If you have a more specialized or unique issue, don't go here. I have a cat who had a surgery a couple months ago to fix a urinary blockage issue and it's kind of a specialized surgery so not many vets are familiar with it. My cat over the weekend was starting to have trouble urinating again and my normal vet was not available so I did my best to find a place open on Saturday to take my cat. Now, they were not able to solve my cats urinary problem which is fine. Not everyone can do everything. But he tried too and it seemed like he didn't know quite what he was doing. My cat ended up with a couple of incisions that were stapled shut, which I wasn't told about before hand. Or told at all he had staples. There was also some sketchy ness with the bill and I don't have an itemized list of what was done. They said it was to make visit cheaper for me but it doesn't entirely make sense. I did give them the benefit of the doubt with that though. However, he was able to keep my cat stable over the weekend until I could get him to my regular vet which I am grateful for. My regular vet was able to fix what was wrong, though it did require surgery and it was partially to fix the incisions that had been made. But my cat should be seeing a full recovery soon. read more

Bought a French bulldog who unfortunately had parasites. He was constantly throwing up and had blood in his stool for 2 days. I had to find a vet quickly and found this amazing vet! The staff was friendly and immediately took care of Bentley. Dr. Andy explained every single step to make Bentley 100%. He even invited us to look under the microscope to show us the parasites. I made a last minute appointment and took my french bulldog puppy in for bad diarrhea, i thought it was because I recently switched the puppy food. Dr.Andy examined my puppy and with his knowledgable experience he was able to tell me right away that my puppy had more serious health issues.He took a sample of the feces and it turned out that my puppy had 2 kinds of parasites. I was freaking out, worried about my new puppy's well-being but Dr. Andy not only calm me down professionally by saying that he would do his best to treat my puppy but also took his time to edcucated me about the parasites, walked me through the treatment process and made recommendations for my puppy's food. i was really impressed by Dr. Andy's Courteous, professional practices. In addition, I have never seen an office staff so friendly and accommodating as the ones at Interlachen Hospital. All of them went out of their way to make sure i had a great experience on every visitation. i can tell that the staff truly cares about all animals and my puppy is now at home recovering and doing much better. The front office staff is very friendly, appointments are easy to obtain (even same day!) and Dr. Andy and his tech are great! I have been going to see this vet for 3-4 years and Dr. Andy never fails to overcharge me or suggest unnecessary procedures for my cats. The last time I was in he said my cat had coronavirus and the situation wasn't good. This was after I had been charged $740 for bloodwork and little else. Dr. Andy only really cares about money, and he is pretty ruthless in trying to get it out of me. I ended up taking 3 pets on 3 occasions to the emergency vet with expenses that weren't very high in order to avoid Dr. Andy. I will not be back. Someone who cares so much about money should have gone into a more lucrative profession. Stay away! read more

I have been really pleased with this place so far. I have two Mini Dachsund puppies. I took them to Dr. Andy for their shots and their spay/neuter. One puppy had a more complicated surgery to be neutered and everything went fine. Dr. Andy explained the details to me so I felt very comfortable with the procedure. The prices for the visits, shots, spay/neuter I thought were very good compared to other prices I have seen from my Mom's or friend's vets in Winter Park and Waterford. As with most vets, the prices on products like REvolution for fleas and ticks are not good, however they did tell me they will match any price I find on this, even online, as long as it is not lower than what they paid for it. Last, I will say the thing I really like is the electronic communications from this vet. I get e-mail reminders for appointments. Also, when I had my puppies fixed, the office sent me an e-mail reminder to come have their stitches removed. This is really convenient. read more

Initial impression was very good. Dr. Andy seemed genuine and straightforward. Did his absolute best to assure us he cared about our dog. After a few 10 minute visits averaging $50-$100 a piece, he prescribed ear meds for my dog that I was to drip into his ears for the next 3 months. Upon talking to several vet friends, all of them told me I should only need to do that for a week and RUB in the medicine or it would not work. His infection cleared 90% within a week of the new information. Essentially, he tried to sell me on much more drug than was needed. I let that go as him just glossing over it. Several visits later, he told me my dog has allergies and would need to take Benadryl for his hot spots. This information is accurate however he did not specify type or amount of it, seeing as "any amount under two tablets won't hurt him". I proceeded to give him 1 tablet of Benadryl with decongestant a week later before work, at the vet's orders. Not an hour later, my girlfriend calls me frantic as my dog is vomiting all over the house. He needed an ER visit including injection to prevent dehydration and stomach pumped because Phenylephrine is highly toxic to dogs (only absolute basic Benadryl is okay for dogs). A detail the vet neglected to mention as he hurried through treatment once again. I let this go again, chalking it up to miscommunication, but of course I was very mad as he nearly killed my dog with his suggestion as well as I was out $400+ due to bill and missed work. Fast forward to present day pandemic. I have run out of sentinal for my dog and seeing as I was locked down, I ordered more off chewy.com. This requires vet approval, so a request was sent to their office. They ignored the request and instead spammed my inbox with their sale on the drug. Basically telling me buy it off us or don't get it at all. This man is a manipulator and one who rushes through exams to proceed to the next as quickly as possible. Do not trust him to have your best interest. read more

We have NOT been here in probably six years. We actually left for the reason I am detailing here and I now know just how RIGHT we were. At less than five years of age, the doctors here strongly suggested we have rather major surgery on one of our Boxers, Katie. They showed us x-rays, issues with hip and knee. TODAY, that same Boxer turned 10 years old and she runs around like a PUPPY! Our neighbors comment on how amazing she is, that they can't believe she is now 10. All we have done is give her chondrontin / glucosamine treats for the last two to three years, NO surgeries. We left these guys to start going to a new vet in Oviedo we absolutely LOVE. I would NOT go back here, as I do not trust their judgment, felt like we were simply money pinatas to them, that the care and well-being of our precious girls was not the paramount issue. read more

Kozmo and Kizmet have been going to Dr Andy since they were baby pups; they are 4 and 5 now. They are sweet and loving Doxies and Dr Andy takes excellent care treating them like family members. I am the type of doggie mommy that just wants the best. I don't want them to wait for me to approve... I just want my babies cared for. I know Dr Andy will do this and he will make sure they don't feel pain because that is always my preference. Only the best for my pups and Dr Andy delivers high quality. This isn't for the vet he is amazing. But I took my dog to get groomed there for a full groomed wasn't told I couldn't revive that. So they only gave her a bath and a nail trim and in the process of giving her a nail trim they cut down to short and made her bleed. Bad communication and bad grooming. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Andy and staff. I've been going to Interlachen for a number of years for both of my dogs - a scottie and westie and my cat. Dr. Andy has always been fair and most of all honest. He's always concerned with the animals and spends the extra time with them to review and watch their behavior both before and after treating them - to (1) make sure the treatment is correct and (2) make sure the treatment worked. I wish I could find my own doctor as devoted to his patient! Beyond the doctor aspect of Interlachen, I've boarded my dogs there a number of times when I was going out of town and the rest of the staff is very friendly and sweet with the animals. They also offer a great and fairly inexpensive grooming service - the groomer does an excellent job (even with the Scottie/Westie cuts!) and spends lots of time with the dogs while grooming to make them comfortable and ease the seemingly uncomfortability the dogs have getting a bath! I'm moving to Gainesville soon and will miss having such a great vet nearby... perhaps I'll wait until regular appointments and just drive down - it's just about worth it! I took my poor, flea-infested cat in to see Dr. Andy. She was losing blood and was very tired and weak; it was horrible. Dr. Andy gave her an annual exam, tested her for worms, and treated her with three different medications (simultaneously). She also got a free bath and teeth cleaning when I got her shots. The flea infestation was gone within two weeks! My girl was back to normal and happy again. I will absolutely bring her back to see Dr. Andy. They were very sweet and knowledgeable. read more

Dr. Andy has been looking after our dogs for the last 15 years and there is no one that I would trust more with my beloved pets. He is one of the kindest people I have ever known. We just recently had a terrible scare with our German Shepherd getting her tail caught in a door. She ended up pulling the tip of her tail off! Blood was everywhere and I thought I'd pass out. Not only did Dr. Andy help keep everyone calm, he took her in right away on a very busy Saturday and stayed with her at the office all weekend. When we adopted our other shepherd, a rescue dog from a used car lot, we learned that she was 15 lbs under weight AND had heart worm. We didn't have the money to pay for the treatment all at once, but Dr. Andy let us make payments and only charged us for the medicine, not the office visits or even the extra care needed while she was undergoing treatment. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!!! Dr. Andy almost killed my dog!! He insisted that my very relaxed, easy going dog be sedated for x-rays. Hours later after picking him up he became lethargic and almost stopped breathing. I had to take my dog to the emergency vet at 4am and he almost died!!! When the records were requested for the new vet to take a look at what medication was given and what was observed following the sedation mostly for future reference THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION OF THE EVENT EVER HAPPENING!!!! He never tried to explain what he thought might have happened, he never followed up to see if my dog recovered, AND HE NEVER APOLOGIZED!!!! read more

My husband and I just moved cross country with our 3 rescue dogs (lab mixes), ages 7, 5 and 1. We initially went to a different vet that had higher yelp reviews to look at our youngest who had been limping, but overall we were dissatisfied with the experience. All 3 had annuals coming up, so I booked them in at Interlachen Animal Hospital. I actually don't think the experience could have been better. The total cost was significantly lower than I had anticipated, which has literally NEVER happened before ($665 for 3 exams, ALL their shots, plus heartworm tests, and 2 dental cleanings, in case you're wondering; my vet back home would have easily been double that). The older 2 had dental work done (just standard cleanings) at what I would consider to be an extremely reasonable price ($125 each). The best part was they don't put them under general, they just do local (valium). Not only is this safer, because you avoid the risks associated with general, but it's also much faster recovery peroid for the dog (they're back to normal in a couple hours) and significantly cheaper (none of the excess costs in administering general are required). Plus they trimmed the eldest's nails free of charge while she was under. All 3 are VERY nervous of the vet, but Dr. Andy was extremely sensitive to my concerns and their needs. Overall I was extremely impressed and am so happy to have found a great vet for our girls. read more

We have been going to see Dr. Andy for over 15 years. We have owned only greyhounds and he has always treated them wonderfully. Daryl is also wonderful! He has given us great advice and even was spot on with a diagnosis we had double checked on or own dime.. .we should have listened to him and saved or money. Please find my original comment from 1/12/2013 below* You stated that the groupon was not valid during holidays, but in the terms it only said that it was not valid during Thanksgiving and Christmas. New Year's was not listed as an exclusion, which is why I used it during that time. One of the fundamentals of owning a successful business is to make things right when a customer is unhappy. But instead of doing that, you continue to try to justify the situation, which is what made it go so far to begin with. I could possibly see if my dog was given a bath maybe the first or second day of his stay, but when she said he was given a bath the day of pick-up, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that it just wasn't done, for the reasons explained in my original review. The dirt was not removed from his white coat-- how do you justify that? Was it an actual bath with shampoo and water? Or was it done with some kind of dry shampoo or bath wipes? I would have preferred you just tell me upfront that you have a holiday fee, instead of saying that I am paying for an extra service just because he is staying during a holiday, only for it not to have been done. The goal with groupon deals is to gain new customers, but the way things were handled so dishonestly, with no accountability for shortcomings is why I will never return or recommend you for boarding services again. read more
