Id give this maybe 2 stars or a star in a half because for the most part...the food is good. Get it delivered if you can. Dont waste your time or money by going in person. The owner is arrogant. My wife, a long time paying customer for years, asked for a small sample to taste. This guy responded to her as if shes crazy. Despite this, she yet again spent a bunch of money for less food. AND i dont know what hes doing or saying to these girls who work there...but theyre the most misrable servers Ive ever encountered. Just to say. Yeah, this place is a definite sleeper from the street until you walk in or order their food. Not a big place but comfortable to sit in and enjoy good Dominican food. I mean "GOOD AF" . FANTASTIC is the least to say about the food they make. First, the staff are basically all Family and are the most delightful people you will encounter when you first walk in. During the height of the pandemic, I enjoyed their food and great service and portions. But after visiting this place in person, it's safe to say that some things are better left UNSEEN... or NOT! While food is good, after today's visit I have to wonder how I nor anyone has contracted COVID from the girl that does NOT wear a mask behind the counter in free range of food! Not to mention the unprofessional attitude and foulness that spews from her mouth. If you really want to eat here, order something that isn't sitting within her range of leaning on the counter and talking over the food with her mask covering her chin. It was my first time getting food at this place I ordered chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes with gravy, beans, yellow rice & the fried chicken chunks. IT WAS AMAZING. It was definitely the comfort food I needed. The chicken noodle soup had full potatoes and carrots in it. I was greeted by a very friendly and hospitable server who quickly took my order and served me that delicious coffee everyone was talking about! The Chef executed a delicious scramble eggs with plenty of ham and golden French fries! This breakfast meal will have you full until lunch time and they give you enough for you to split if you would like. Sometimes I get it with yuca instead of the mangu. Ask for some cooked red onions on top of the mangu. The young girl who works the register has this weird way of handing you back your money (usually a few bills at a time depending on the value of those bills). This is the second time I noticed this and got the short end of the stick as I was in a rush and walked out without with what I was owed (my fault for not checking). I was due about 9 dollars and some change and she handed my singles first . As I thought all the money was in my hand, I Left the restaurant and didn't check u til after I was home. I really do love getting food from here. The chef and delivery guy (who I believe is also a chef) are very very nice. There is one lady with curly light brown hair who is also very sweet. Everyone else is kind of painful to deal with. Calling to order is risky. They don't always listen to your order over the phone and tend to get it wrong more than getting it right. You're better off going in person. But besides the 3 workers I described, all the others seem miserable and/or awkward. Thank goodness for the chefs. read more

8 years ago, we were in town for 6 days. That tells you a little something about the memory this place gave me. We were staying 2 blocks away, and in need of a breakfast spot. By chance, we walked into the first breakfast place we found. There is more than one International Coffee shop in the NY area, but I distinctly remember the look of this one. We walk in, just a couple of tourists trying to blend in. Honestly, I don't remember what the food taste like, but it must have been good, because we came back every single day. But what I do remember was THE COFFEE. OMG, when I tell you their coffee was good, it was so freaking good! When we put the creamer in, my friend looks at it and goes, this is some strong coffee. It still had a nice brown color, instead of the vanilla color most coffees turn when you put cream in. So everyday we come back, and at this point in my life, I'm not an everyday coffee drinker. I didn't know what caffeine withdrawals were, until the day we left. It's sometime in the afternoon, on a plane halfway back to California, and I get a headache. I mean, I'm miserable. And it last for hours. Anyways we land in Long Beach I believe, and it's now dinner time. I order a coffee, like I had been doing most of the previous week, take one sip and jokingly say, "mmmm, I feel better." Do you know, that within 15 min, my headache was gone? I've been coming here for breakfast at least once a week for the last few months. The omelets and "spanish style breakfast" are so good and the staff is super super friendly. Pass by this place when you have a chance. The aroma alone wafting in the breeze on Myrtle Ave will bring you here...it smells divine! I always order from this place and love the food. Potato salad, tostones, moro with guandules, broiled fish...it's my favorite meal! Inside it's a simple restaurant with a couple of booths and seats at the counter. I came in once to get some grub. All of it came to under 20 bucks. The fish was so tasty and fresh, broiled to just the right temperature. Tostones were a bit greasy but I did like they had an option to get a small or a large order of them. Sometimes I don't want that many! I will say the waitress does need to get an attitude adjustment. She seems like she SO doesn't wanna be there. I also called to place an order and she was laughing to someone else and asking me repeatedly what I just said. Get it together lady! I would've given it 0 stars if I could, but I can't. I came here with my boyfriend like a couple of years ago and we sat down and they gave us the menus. It wasn't even crowded and my boyfriend signaled the waitress to take our order and she dismisses us. We waited at least 10 minutes for her to take our order and she doesn't.
