Who knew vegetarian food could be this good?! I absolutely love this local spot and used to order lunch from there regularly. It's a small family-owned business with amazing and affordable lunch specials. I highly recommend the fish steak teriyaki--one of my all-time favorites. The sauce is incredible--made with all-natural ingredients, no artificial ingredients. Just real, wholesome food. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner. NOPE! I was really looking forward to trying out this establishment. I'm popped it in my GPS and drove to Queens. When I got there I guess the hint should have been that it was empty. Not one person. The establishment is small and boxy. That's cool but it was like a closet. They were supplies on the tables. Behind a bar-like area was more stuff. But that's not what got me. As soon as you walk in the door to the left, there was a big bottle pump bottle. On that bottle where in bold letters the word "PESTICIDE". I love Co Co Lin! I've been coming to and ordering from here since they first opened, now over 10 years ago. Having a vegetarian spot in Ridgewood was a true rarity back then, but the food still holds up and it's a place I hold dear in my heart. Great for delivery, but if you can make it in person, the food tastes even better. General Tso's Chicken, and Basil Soy Protein are some of my favorites. Lol Co Co Lin Vegetarian House has the biggest veggie chicken nuggets I've ever had!!! They are so worth the calories and one order is big enough for my husband, son & I to share. Also, the spring rolls were filled with so much vegetables(healthy veggies too) that even my mother-in-law loved them. The chicken lo mein was super yummy. I loved the onions in the chicken lo mein but, wasn't expecting them to be there. The lunch specials were delicious but the amount of veggie meat was small compared to the vegetable given. Another day another rumbling stomach. My friend and I are trying to eat healthier together so he suggested a vegan dinner but unfortunately our regular go to spot was closed. Egads! I quickly hopped on Yelp and Grubhub to solve our emergency when I came upon this restaurant. He ordered General Taos (which he pronounced Tu-So's teehee) and I ordered a Basil dish. While the prices were pricey (about $14-$16 per dish) it was ok......he was paying. (Tee-hee) Anywho we drove out there and although there were tables and chairs blocking full entry (COVID) there was a very nice woman who was polite and quickly took my money and handed me my food (cash only!!). When we got back to my place we descended upon the food like vultures and.I must say I was impressed with the way things were packaged. They even included water bottles for each dish and had a cute little ziplocked packet of soy sauce, cutlery and a napkin which gave off a classy more refined polish for Chinese food. Upon first bite we both were delighted. The food tasted like quality, every bit of it.. My friend actually preferred my Basil dish but we both are up the two dishes and were quite full. I would definitely recommend this place whether you eat vegan or not; they have quite a large menu and even more appetizers that I am eager to try. We had scallion pancake, Malaysian pancake and vegetable dumpling to share and I had fish lunch, made to tofu instead of fish which was very good. It tasted and texture just like fish. I gave them my zip code and the woman in the phone says "sure, we deliver there." And I said GREAT! Because I was told it was too far before but I'm not that far away and this restaurant comes up as the CLOSEST one when I go to GrubHub and DoorDash. She told me to hold on, and then she hung up on me. When I called back she said we don't deliver to you because you complained about not getting the curry sauce with the curry roll. She FLAT OUT said that this restaurant is DENYING my service because I wrote in ONE GrubHub review that I didn't get sauce. This is discrimination. And for what? DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! BOYCOTT THIS PLACE AND THEIR NASTY FOOD. I don't know why a restaurant would feel some kind of way because I said they forgot something in my order. So now I'm banned? The lady that works in the front is SO SWEET and there daughter is adorable! Aside from that the food is DELICIOUS. I mean hands down I love this place. The fried wonton and scallion pancake is so good... ridicouloisly delicious....not to mention the jasmine tea is amazing. They have lunch special even on the weekend!!!! LOL now they've refused to deliver to my house--cancelled my order 2 minutes after it went through. The only reason why I keep ordering from here is because it's the only vegetarian (with vegan options) spot near me. This is the best Chinese food I have ever had. I order here regularly and the food is always great. Even my meat eating best friend says that the chicken nuggets from here are the best they have ever had and I agree. Our favorites are the chicken nuggets, the mango chicken, the sesame chicken and pork fried rice. When in doubt always get the chicken nuggets. Love-hate relationship with this place. Their delivery took 1.5 hours, and the delivery man didn't even come to the door -- he said you need to come outside to pick it up. I live 10 minutes away from the place. However, this is the best vegan Asian food you are going to get in this neighborhood. This place is way better than Franchia in the city that everyone always raves about -- and way cheaper. General Tso's Chicken has a good crispy texture on the outside with a sauce that isn't too sweet. Mango chicken is always a favorite. The Pad Thai is okay, but the mock chicken in it strangely reminds me of the way cat food smells. Not the best Asian vegan food I've had, but big portions and does the trick. How many vegetarians are in Ridgewood? I'm not sure, but I'm one of them, and hope Co Co Lin sticks around long-term. The space is bright and cheery, with lots of happy green paint. The server is also adorably friendly-- you can tell they are excited about their new business. Her young son(?) was hanging out on the side of the cash register. Totally cute. We were served and had our drinks refilled promptly and cheerfully, without any of the waiting and wondering that sometimes occurs in these parts. We were given free jasmine tea and some sort of soaked(?) peanut appetizer (tasty) upon being seated. The menu consists of a range of mostly Asian-inspired dishes, including foods of recognizable Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, and Japanese origin. They also offer the occasional odd vegetarianized "American" items like "chicken" nuggets, tater tots, and a "turkey" sandwich. I'm used to having maybe 5 items to choose from on a menu (often fewer in Ridgewood) so the selection here is pretty overwhelming. I'd estimate there are approximately 80 food items on the menu, plus another 20 beverages, including a wide range of fresh juice combinations. All the entrees are $10-12, which sounds high on paper but again, but you get your money's worth. The vegetable/tofu/noodle dishes are $6.50-10, and I'd imagine sizable enough for a meal as well... there's also a $6 lunch special. I had the black pepper seitan, which comes with broccoli, shitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, and possibly other stir-fried vegetables, over brown rice. Protein! Seasonings! Yeah, it was great and I savored every bite. And the portions were enormous-- I could barely finish. The ginger-carrot juice was excellent as well, although probably more than I needed. My companion had the curry "beef" in a creamy sauce with potatoes and broccoli with rice. It had a hearty "stew"-y flavor-- this is comfort food for sure. She tried the (very filling) avocado/soy milk drink. All in all Co Co Lin is a welcome addition to Greater Ridgewood. We'll be back regularly. read more

I truly love this place! My boyfriend and I would eat here every week and enjoyed it every time. The only reason we haven't stopped by was because we moved couple of months ago. It was awesome eating a vegetarian meal that I can't get anywhere else. Orange chicken, shrimp, beef, all the things I loved to eat before I turned vegetarian I was able to enjoy. They also have great freshly blended juices. I was nervous to try because I'm picky when it come to juices. She asked what I liked and made me one and I loved it. They also do takeout and delivery. I never had a problem with that. My top choices are the beef dumplings, chicken tenders, orange chicken and chicken with broccoli. Oh and if you order lunch you can have soup or roll. Everyone writing such extreme negative reviews on this place is absurd. This place is pretty straight forward, and I don't know why someone would come here expecting the likes of a "quinoa salad with cranberries and goat cheese" - give me a break! An adjustment of expectations please. This is why some people find vegans annoying - they have this cliche of expecting everywhere and everyone to cater to their specific whims. Of course there are all types of vegan and vegetarian food in the world. This is a place people can go to - if they want Chinese takeout style food, minus the meat. I gather that Co Co Lin hasn't been putting any other message across either, seeing as all of their menu items are fairly consistent with that image, minus the odd turkey sandwich - and their generous assortment of vegetable and fruit juices. (and how cool is it that they have all that soy ice cream!) Do you honestly go to Co Co Lin for a healthy detox? I think not. And if you are - surely you can be mindful of your choices on the menu. This is more like zone out in front of a movie at home with your friends food, or a nearby quick and special meal with your love while you laugh about stupid stuff food. Following the suggestions and pictures last night I decided to try out Co Co Lin for the first time. I ordered Sweet and Sour Chickn, Sugar Cane Drumsticks, Sauteed Broccoli, and a large Tom Yum Soup. I decided to stay with pretty easy choices in lieu of the negative reviews. The food arrived hot and within half an hour, and the lady on the phone was nice enough to let me order delivery 5 minutes before closing time. I was a little worried the food wouldn't be as good due to the time - but I was pleasantly surprised. Prices were reasonable for the portion size - there was enough for the 2 of us to have 2 full meals. The Sweet and Sour Chickn was cute, typical chinese takeout sweet and sour chicken. They separate the sauce so your chickn doesn't get soggy - and the sauce itself reminds me of takeout places I'd go to as a kid - where they actually put pineapple and pieces of pepper in there. You can tell they take pains to keep it from getting soggy while in transit, as there were vents hand cut out of the takeout container to let steam escape. It arrived mostly crispy, with some softer pillowy places just from being in the container all that time. The sauce was pretty sweet, but the sweetness was offset by the tangy pineapple. I took care not to drench the chicken in the sauce and use it sparingly. The soy protein inside was not rubbery or hard, but "fleshy" and of decent quality. Pretty much what I expected. The sugar cane drumsticks were interesting - you actually *could* taste the influence the sugar cane had on the soy protein or whatever it was that made up the drumstick. It was fried in a crispy shell, and had a seasoned, slightly spicy taste. Pretty good junk food material when dipped in the chili sauce that comes with them. I was only really able to eat one, especially with the sweet & sour chicken - it ends up being kind of too rich. The sugar cane was fun to chew on after - my partner said she used to do that as a kid in Hong Kong :P As a Hong Konger, she also gave this takeout the stamp of approval and was like "Why?!!" when I told her that I saw all these really extreme reaction negative reviews after ordering. Sauteed broccoli - typical broccoli in brown sauce, but minus the cornstarch - so the sauce was more brothy than that thick sauce many takeout places use. A little overdone but not by much. I would probably ask for it steamed with the sauce on the side next time, as I had ordered it as a sort of healthy break in between all the fried stuff. The sauce was sweet ish & salty - flirting with almost being too sweet & salty much like the sweet & sour sauce. - again, fairly typical, but on the good side. The tom yum soup was nice - it had a strong lemony/lemongrassy taste with other herbal tastes typical of tom yum soup. It tasted slightly different and I would imagine that comes from the fact that this is a vegetarian version. There were 2 faux shrimps inside - which were cute. Honestly you wouldn't want more than that. Faux meat gets kind of heavy after a while. The end! I also took pictures to show everyone. read more
