It would be amazing to have some real food near the children's playground. Pretzels and cotton candy aren't great lunch choices. Other than that, allllll kudos for a fun and immersive experience. As pass holders, we intend to be here a lot.

I will say that the Pittsburgh Zoo's habitat for construction vehicles has expanded. There are several construction projects around the park including a major upgrade to the giraffe's living quarters. I'm glad to see the zoo upgrading but the disruptions are noticeable.

But about half the park is comprised of farm animals. Feeds can be purchased in the office and the portion given is plentiful. The carrots and dry feed were more than enough to last for our visit. This is a great chance for the kids to get outside for a while on a nice weather day. They can see, touch and feed quite a few animals including bovine, goats, llamas, sheep, rabbits and others. There is even a small play area for a change of pace. The admission prices are reasonable by today's standards ($18.50 adults, $16.50 seniors and $15.50 age 3 - 11, under 3 free). You get to genuinely interact with them. Over the years, we've loved seeing the variety; everything from the playful otters, sloths, and kangaroos to the big cats, wolves, and primates. The highlight for the kids (and, let's be honest, the adults too) has always been buying the feed cups and carrots. Getting to hand-feed a giant, gentle camel or watch the baby goats enthusiastically run up to you never gets old. Beyond the animals themselves, two things consistently stand out every time we visit: the cleanliness and the staff. For an animal park where you are encouraged to touch and feed the residents, the facilities are remarkably clean, well-maintained, and do not have that overwhelming odor you might expect. There are also feeding machines where you can get a small amount of food for a quarter, but some of them don't work very well. The bucket was full of food and even included a token that you can give to a staff member in exchange for lettuce to feed the giraffes. It might sound a little expensive, but it will make your day so much more fun, and it's definitely worth it! You get plenty of food to feed the animals. Since you have food to offer them, the animals come right up to you, so you can see them up close. That usually doesn't happen at a regular zoo! There are also plenty of picnic tables where you can sit, relax, and have lunch. I would definitely come back here again!
