It was kindergarten party, so 5+ year olds. The level was not suitable for kindergarten children, who need extra guidance and a gentler introduction to gymnastics. Unfortunately, my child was injured during a session, which could have been avoided with better supervision and a more tailored approach for beginners. My kid was told to switch her legs while in air and then jump on ground. Safety should always be the top priority, especially for such young children. This being her first exposure to gymnastics, this was obviously too much for her and she fell and twisted her knee. They should be mindful that for such bday party events, only introductory lessons should be thought as for some kids this might be first exposure.

Their preschool classes are great to get kids active, learn body control and strength and flexibility, and just have a good time. I didn't expect that my oldest was going to fall so hard for the sport but last year she did Pre Team and this year she is in her first year on the Xcel Team and she loves it. I didn't know a kid could spend six hours in the gym each week and not get bored or tired of it but she's never once said she was either. The coaches that have been there for some time are really great. They have the correct approach to building a solid team and encouraging positivity and confidence. They move from one activity to the next to keep kids engaged. They assist when needed but also allow for independence. My oldest has grown in her skills but also in her ability to take direction, be a strong member of a team, and in her confidence. I expect we have many more years at SGA. Yes, it can be difficult to get into some classes and yes, they can have high turnover in staff, but once you find your right fit there and stick with it, it has a great welcoming feel to it.

She started at the Burien location and later transferred to the Columbia City gym when she joined the XCEL Team program this July, coached by Hailey and Lindsey. The program costs around $700 per month for 3-hour practices twice a week, so we expected a positive and supportive experience. Unfortunately, after a few months on the XCEL team, my daughter began to lose interest in attending class. She said her coach was "not very nice" and that she often felt singled out, which completely took the fun out of gymnastics for her. We even paid an additional $1,200 Competition Fee Deposit for an upcoming competition, plus another $300 for the required competition leotard, warm-up jacket, and team backpack, which makes this experience even more disappointing. We don't mind the costs -- as long as it brings joy to her life and she remains passionate about it. Unfortunately, that excitement is gone. I don't believe my daughter has lost interest in gymnastics as a sport -- she still practices her routines and does cartwheels at home -- but the fact that she no longer wants to attend practice tells me this has everything to do with SGA and her experience there. I truly hope SGA takes a closer look at how some of their coaches, including Hailey and Lindsey, interact with younger athletes. Encouragement and kindness make all the difference -- especially for kids at this age and level.

When I signed up, I believed I was enrolling in a summer session. Instead, I unknowingly entered into an ongoing monthly membership with rigid policies, automatic charges, and little flexibility for new families. Problems we ran into: Billing: We were charged $143.35 for June even though we only attended one class, plus an additional drop-in fee. There was very limited prorated adjustment and no flexibility for starting mid-month (as soon as you sign up you are charged rather than the first class you can join.) When I raised this, I was told tuition is amortized annually -- but that logic doesn't make sense for new members who haven't yet received a full season's worth of classes. Charges during closures: We were charged full tuition for July even though classes were paused the first week of the month. The explanation was that "you'll still get four classes," but the lack of transparency here felt like nickel-and-diming. Cancellation policy: To stop being charged, families must fill out a "drop form" by the first of the month prior. No reminders, no flexibility, no consideration for families trying to navigate school transitions. I missed the August 1 deadline and now I am paying for September classes my child cannot attend. Waitlists: Even when you want to stay enrolled, the waitlists are impossibly long (waitlists are 12-35 people long) So I'm being charged monthly for a class my child isn't even able to participate in. Overall, the business model feels punitive rather than supportive. Instead of welcoming new families, it places the entire burden on parents to read the fine print, track deadlines, and pay for services they cannot use. For a children's program that should be about building community and joy, the policies feel unnecessarily rigid, confusing, and profit-driven. The staff answering emails were polite, but their hands are tied by the system. The problem isn't the front desk -- it's the membership model itself. If you're considering SGA, be very careful before signing up. Unless you are prepared for long waitlists, inflexible billing, and paying for classes your child might not actually attend, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

For the same level, same class time, my friends and I were charged 4500, 3000, 2500 differently for our kids. We figured this out when chit chatting. 2. when the owner asks you to join their camps or events, you'll get a lot of pressure of joining, but you need to think about it carefully before paying the money. You would not get notice or disclaimers about refund. But when you were not able to join camps or events, the owner would tell you that their policy doesn't do return money. But some people could get treated differently to help them get good reviews. 3. if your kid is really talented, it's possible that your kid can get more attention. That's a good thing. But if your kid is not that talented, you then are just a machine they are trying to pull out more money from. 4. They don't really have any standards. It all depends on coaches if your kid can start the next level. Certain coaches are not patient with kids at all. New coaches come and leave frequently.

I received less than 24 hours notice that a photographer would be taking pictures of my 4 year old's class, and if I did not wish for her image to be used in promotional content, we could miss the lesson with no refunds or makeups. The cancellation policy is also unnecessarily long and convoluted. Additionally, if you have to miss class for illness, there is no chance for a makeup class, unlike competitors and comparable activities. This encourages children to attend while sick and spread pathogens.
