This square looks like a beautiful picture out of a book. There's plenty of space for kids to run around, nice shaded trees and picnic tables to enjoy a packed lunch or pick up a lunch from the quaint restaurants lined around the square. I was in the square years ago and they were filming a movie here. A lot of popular movies and shows have been filmed here throughout the years. I love that there are good quality places to eat, all in one area within walking distance and ice cream shops too. I also love how friendly strangers smile at each other and everyone is doing there own thing. Sometimes there's music playing throughout the square which makes it a double delight.

There's more going on including professional offices, furniture consignment store, a noodle house (must try that one of these days!) and hair salon. Easy enough to access and the parking is simple with two one-way lanes and angled spots. Getting out of the center is easy just be patient and wait for the eventual break in the traffic. Despite there being slightly more to do and see here than the South DeKalb Mall, the halls are…read morearguably more dead. It was pretty depressing to see such empty pathways and closed up shops. I'm sure this mall was great back in the day. We passed by the food court and there was not a single shop open! Not sure if they moved everything to a side of the mall that we missed, but you'd be starving before you found anything. I recommend going over to Golden Corral across the parking lot if you're hungry while here. It seems like the only things really hanging on are Marshalls, Burlington, the AMC theater (probably the busiest part of the mall), Dollar Tree, and the comic store, Challenges, where a group of guys were playing with Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic cards. There were a few other shops, but those were the primary ones that stuck with me. Challenges was kind of a cool place to walk through - lots of obscure comics and comics featuring non-mainstream African American heroes. It seems like a good place to get together with friends to play all those collectible card games, if you're into that. Everyone in the store was having a good time, laughing and joking. Honestly, it was one of the few welcoming parts left of the whole mall. Marshalls had a decent selection and their own bathrooms down a well lit hall which was nice...The AMC was pretty packed so it must still be a fairly good location...The Dollar Tree was our last stop here. Seems like the best place to go to grab movie snacks before catching a flick. One mom and her cute little girl thought the same thing as she was safely hiding their movie treats in her baby's jacket before heading for AMC...We came from Golden Corral and were pretty much just doing a walk through, since we'd never been to North DeKalb. The Dollar Tree was clean and well stocked. It's right next to the theater, if you're coming from outside. So don't listen to Google Maps if you're trying to find it, because the location has changed and they haven't updated it yet. Overall, I'd probably come back to North DeKalb Mall sooner than South DeKalb, but probably only for the stores I mentioned and the movie theater. It was definitely like a ghost town. I hope North and South DeKalb can improve their selection of retailers and not shut down. So much potential, just a blank canvas waiting to be filled.

I've only been in Atlanta a short while so I've never made it to this part of town. Judging from what others are writing about this mall, the movie theater is probably the only reason people come here. Even that I was not terribly impressed with because the movie theater was unclear and poorly run and a clear reflection of the rest of the mall itself. This is a pretty old mall which you can tell by looking at it (or people have not kept up with it). It's not clear where the entrance is to this place and it looks like they just want you to enter through the department stores. The only store that I recognized was Marshalls and it was quiet there on a weekday. The entrance we took was through a old timey but cheap looking furniture store. I realized that after our movie was over and these stores were closed, it might be hard to find an exit. I was right because all the direct exits to the parking lot are through those stores. We took an emergency exit out and we went through a door that took us past the dumpster and the AC units for the building. Most of the stores here I have never heard of and the building smelled musty. The only people I saw there early in the evening were going to the movie theater (which tried to cancel the movie I had bought tickets for already). This place needs a bit of a facelift and could start with some of the basics.... clean floors and paved parking lots .... A convenient exit out of the building would work too! I don't post many 1 star reviews but unfortunately this is one of just a handful I have ever given.

The pregnant girl that checked me out was not friendly at all [I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because she is pregnant and she's standing on her feet for hours] but that still doesn't give her a ride right to be rude or unpleasant to us paying customers. Again, we're living in difficult times, kindness is definitely needed! Probably wouldn't visit this location again because i'm VERY BIG on customer service that's why I gave 3 stars

This is thee worst Ross in the history of Ross stores. Came here tonight and waited in a long line…read morewith only one cashier. Finally make it to the front of the line with items to return and also items to purchase. The cashier I went to had an attitude and was walking around the store loudly yelling about a customer looking at an item. She was extremely rude and disrespectful in regard to the customer and all the other shoppers had to hear her complaining about just performing her job duties. Well once I reached the front she decided to hop in to help the solo cashier and kept stating "I'm ready to go" as she's checking people out. I was hoping I didn't get her and the lady in front of me chose the other cashier just to avoid being checked out by her. I was next so I walked her way. As I'm walking up, she's stating "I'm not doing not a single return," but she mumbled it. So she rang up my two items. I sat my bag on the counter and she tells me, "I said I'm not doing a return so you'll be back in the morning." I looked at her puzzled and didn't want to press the issue so I kindly told her I no longer wanted the two items to buy. It's disrespectful to handle customers in these sorts of manner and I am definitely going to be reaching out to speak with either a manager or corporate in regards to how this employee handles people supporting Ross. This encounter has now made me look upon what once was my FAVORITE place to shop (everyone who knows me knows I love Ross), to a place where i may not even go to shop again. Deal breaker was that the store was still open and operating and she decided to block off the line with carts and make announcements pressuring people to get in line or registers would be shut down at 9:30pm when the store closed at 10 and I'd been in line since 9:35 until 9:48. I will be returning these items and I probably won't go back t Ross, or at least this location. I'd rather drive to Woodstock and shop at the outlets than to give my hard earned, money to the hands of such rude people. Value of Ross just dropped in my book. I have never been in a single Ross store and encountered this before. If I could give negative stats, I probably would.

The lines reached at least 50-100 yards each the self checkout out even longer. Lines were so long that customers deserted their buggies in random places with perishable items.... complete waste yet avoidable if the store would open more lanes. Due to covid precautions you would think more lines would be open to avoid clusters of people in one tight area. I will avoid at all cost!! Just horrible

First of all it was Toco Hills (Where is THAT?), and it was basically a lot of dead space, a huge, mostly pot-hole riddled parking lot, and not-so-well-known businesses. According to Edens Property, the management company that owns both Toco Hills Shopping Center and its adjacent neighboring property Toco Hills Promenade, Toco Hills Shopping Center encompasses both Salaryman and Toco Giant Package Store, all of the stores in the row from Iron Age and north to Sushi Matsuya, and all of the stores in the row of businesses from UPS Store to Frugal Kitchens, and the two empty stores past Frugal Kitchens. This is a very confusing set up, because it isn't visually obvious that there are three different shopping centers, but looks like only one. Anyway, Toco Hills Shopping Center had fallen into sad disrepair years ago, with mostly discount businesses taking up the retail spaces, if there were even existing businesses. At that time there were many empty stores. Thankfully, there have been positive transformations in the shopping center over the past six years, resulting in it becoming a popular destination for shopping, restaurants and services. The parking lot has been redone, and all of the retail areas received a much needed makeover. In short, the entire Toco Hills Shopping Center look so much better now, so much more welcoming, and is now a lot busier. In addition, the overall quality of the businesses appears to have motivated more people to shop, dine and receive services So far, the shops that I've gone to in Toco Hills Shopping Center are Iron Age Korean Steak House, Spiller Park Coffee and Sushi Matsuya, having OK to great experiences. I will definitely return to experience more businesses here when I'm back in the area.

It's one of the best plazas in Atlanta. You could spend weeks here, eating at a different place for lunch and dinner every day, and never eat at the same place twice. Every major city should have plazas like this. Atlanta is very fortunate to have the Asian Square.

Asian Square is an old Asian shopping center located on Buford Highway between Chamblee Tucker Rd…read more and I-285 in Doraville. My earliest memories of Asian Square are from Fall 2000, when I first moved to Atlanta. Back then (actually, since 1993), and up until circa 2010, Asian Square was home to a 99 Ranch Market, a popular Chinese supermarket chain from California. Times changed and bigger, newer Asian grocery stores opened in nicer, cleaner shopping complexes up north (e.g. Super H Mart, GreatWall, Assi), forcing 99 Ranch to close its only Georgia location. Asian Square was also home to restaurants such as Pho Hoa (Vietnamese noodle soup), Asiana Garden (Korean BBQ), a Thai restaurant, Fil-Am Star (one of metro Atlanta's only Filipino restaurants), and Hello Dau Hu (a Vietnamese snack shop which has since been absorbed into fellow Buford Highway competitor Viet Tofu ~Spring 2014). Those were just a handful of businesses that closed at Asian Square over approximately the past 15 years. These days, the main draws at Asian Square are undoubtedly Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe (Asian pastries and bubble tea), Quoc Huong (Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and pho), and, to a lesser extent, Ming's BBQ and BBQ Corner (Chinese, Cantonese food). Sweet Hut opened in April 2012 and became wildly successful. It brought people flocking back to Asian Square... Well, one tiny corner of it. Mamak, a Malaysian restaurant, opened September 2014 in the former Fil-Am space. Quoc Huong is considered by many to have the best banh mi sandwiches in Atlanta. I can't say I disagree. They are pretty darn good. Ming's BBQ has been around forever. Honestly, I'm surprised it's still around. Ming's is hidden towards the back of the shopping center, near the Shallowford Rd. entrance/exit. Ming's boasts quick and authentic plates of Cantonese-style street food, complete with fresh roasted pork on display and roasted duck hanging behind the storefront window. Ming's has a second, bigger, much newer location off of Pleasant Hill Rd. in Duluth (Gwinnett County). I ate at BBQ Corner several times in the early-to-mid 2000s. They served satisfying Chinese food and had dim sum service at one point too. In late 2013/early 2014, the restaurant temporarily closed and underwent a major renovation. As of 2014, BBQ Corner is back with a new storefront, a new dining room, and a new attitude. The four aforementioned restaurants presumably make up the bulk of Asian Square customer traffic today. Currently, I believe there are no more Korean-owned businesses at Asian Square. I think all of the businesses are owned or operated by either Chinese or Vietnamese people. King Maxim Nail Supply opened in a substantial space (I think part of the old 99 Ranch Market) in 2014. There are a lot of nail salon supply stores along Buford Highway and King Maxim adds another to the mix. Victoria Nail Supply is a smaller shop, also located at Asian Square. Other businesses include Bride & Fashion II (dresses), Kim Ngoc Jewelry, Eye Best / La Mejor Vision (optometrist's office and eyeglass frames store), Jimmy's Fine Jewelry, Vietnamese coffee shop Duy Long, Hair Capital (hair salon), The Gioi Am Nhac (Vietnamese video/music store I believe), Le Salon (another salon), ABF Travel (Chinese travel agency), Victoria Cosmetics, a dentist's office, a pediatric clinic, Asian herbal medicine shops, and more. Asian Square, as a functional shopping center, is simply outdated. It's not the cleanest shopping center nor is it modern or aesthetically pleasing. The storefronts and store spaces are worn and parking is a real issue here. The driveways are tight and the speed bumps are annoying, but necessary. It's been years and the void left by 99 Ranch's closure has yet to be filled. I heard from an Asian Square business owner that parking was one of the biggest challenges in trying to secure a tenant for that space. It makes sense when you look at other Asian shopping centers around town (and you don't have to look far). In the end, I am a fan of Asian Square. I've got several memories here. The place has character and it's a recognized "landmark" of sorts for the Asian community in Atlanta, especially those who have lived here a long time. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this place. (Sweet Hut definitely helped!)
