The holding tanks - it was winter, so not much to see
    Brent L.

Unbeknownst to me, water lilies don't bloom in the winter, so I only saw four or five blooms, and not many lily pads either. According to signage, the best times are March through November. Even though my visit was a bust, the online photos look like it's an awesome place when they're in bloom. The areas for the lillies is quite large, so I think you'll be impressed if you visit during the right time of the year. It's a small park with a couple of short trails to walk along the creekside, but the trails have a bit of trash on them. Park in the Presbyterian church lot across the street (but not on Sundays you heathens!). P.S. - there's a rose garden in the same park, but apparently those don't bloom in the winter either, what was I thinking???

    Beautiful water gardens.

In the middle of dry West Texas, there is a park that will completely surprise you. It started in 1988 and became world famous in 1993 under the guidance of Ken Landon. It is the best aquatic display in North America. The waterlily display is incredible. Have you ever seen a 6 foot diameter waterlily? This is the place! There are many varieties on display at any given time. Glenda and I used to have 2 water gardens, and they require a lot of work to look this good. Volunteers spend a lot of time working with Ken to keep it looking this good. Best viewing time is in the morning. See the website for details. Go see it, you'll be impressed!

A little hidden gem in San Angelo! There's a little rose garden and some bridges surrounding it with some palm trees.

My first visit here was the weekend of the Riverfest and LilyFest and what a wonderful experience. I walked around for hours and I got to listen to Ken Landon talk about all the different lilies in each pool. I learned so much and took so many pictures of course. There are so many beautiful Water Lilies. This is definitely a must see when you're in San Angelo.

A true hidden gem in San Angelo and West Texas in general. This exhibit is free to the public and is open year round for viewing. The garden is beautiful and features multiple types of water lilies, as well as other flowers planted along the path. Different events are hosted here throughout the year so it may be worth looking into if you planning to visit.

Beautiful water lilies! Also a nice little trail thru wooded area nearby. Rose garden above. Website said best viewing from 9 a.m. to noon so we got up early to drive in. But only a few lilies were blooming around 10 a.m. We came back after lunch and there were probably ten times as many blooming! Another guest said he saw a lot the evening before.

Vary nice place, a true gem in this city. Worth the visit. No cost to visit except a little sweat in summer time. Parking is along the street but not marked.

Great to visit and have a relaxing time! We visited in the Fall and there's plenty of waterlily varities. The caretakers are very nice, and some will talk to you about the waterlily species they carry. We also had the opportunity to meet the man himself, Ken Landon.

Make sure to come in the middle of summer or late summer, you get the full effect of the ponds. Earlier in the year, the rose garden up top is very pretty. Make sure you get a picture of all the beautiful dragonflies at the ponds!

Because the park is in West Texas, it is very hot in September.
