I needed to have my truck towed about 40 miles when a wheel bearing went bad. I called AAA, and they sent Mitch to pick up the truck. He arrived within half an hour, loaded the truck onto his flatbed, took pictures of it when it was on the flatbed, and took it to my mechanic's location. At my request, he called me to tell me that he had delivered the truck. Mitch was prompt, cheerful, pleasant, and efficient. I am pleased with the service provided. read more

February 2022 Interstate Northeast answered my insurance's and my roadside assistance call that my car was stuck in ice in street parking outside my apartment. The driver was young, probably in his 20's. He dinged my car (I paid for it to be fixed and a rental which cost $1100). I watched the driver hit my car as I stood and watched. I said, "You hit me." He said, "I thought you were spotting me." He immediately got out and took pictures of the damage and asked me if it was already there. Within days, I learned from my insurance company that the driver and Interstate Northeast were saying that the damage was preexisting. My insurance could not investigate because the damage cost was below my deductible. I have proof of when he arrived with the automatic text. The driver is saying the photo was taken before the work began. If one were to dissect the photo evidence, they would see the timestamp is 40 minutes after the time of arrival. I'm do not know anyone at this company. This was my first experience. Using my AAA NORTHWAY Towing was priceless today. I got to meet Jim Stockwell from Interstate Northeast. My Volvo came to a sudden stop right on a busy stretch in Lake George, NY. Within a reasonable time on very cold day Jim arrived. Jim was very pleasant while completing his standard procedures. Before you know it we were loaded up and safely on the road. On the ride back I learn that Jim is a great conversationalist. We arrived at our location drop site. Off loaded efficiently and safely. I was broken down by the side of a highway in an suv with light utility trailer in tow. AAA Northway contacted Interstate for the service. The suv service was covered by AAA. The trailer was not. Interstate charged me $457 for slipping in a hitch into the truck carrying the suv, and dropping off the trailer at my house which was directly on my way to the mechanic shop. I spoke to the manager and was refused a reasonable accommodation on the price. Be careful of these folks. This company hires employees straight off of the craigslist back pages, never have had a harder tile trying to understand and figure out how to talk to this tow truck driver, no communication skills what so ever, I was promised by the state troopers that my car could be towed anywhere yet this was not the case when he showed up, also they are scam artist charging excessive amounts of money to release your vehicle from their yard, all you have to do is call your local sheriff's departments and they will cut the bill in half, caused way more hassle than needed to be and accused us of being the ones "wasting his time" if I could leave 0 stars I would luckily CAPITAL DISTRICT TOWING was able to help me out in the situation much more personable and easier to deal with read more

John showed up and right away showed he was clever in how he got me out, and inventive in dealing with any issues that came up along the way. We recently had a terrible experience with Interstate Northeast towing. Last Saturday, January 4, we parked our vehicle in the Bank of America Side Lot (across from the back entrance of Proctor's Theater). It's not unusual for the attendant to not be on duty when we arrive - and as usual, we park our car and return after dinner and well before the show begins at Proctor's. This night we returned at 7:20 to find that our car had been towed. Not knowing what to do we spoke to a police officer and then called the number posted in the wall. In response we were told that in order to get the vehicle back, we had to come to the business with $323.40 CASH ONLY. Since we didn't have enough cash and no way to get there, we had to call someone to come to our aid and stay with us through this ordeal. The towing site is a long distance from Proctors and once there we were very nervous waiting for about 30 minutes in a dark, remote, unfamiliar area, for the driver to come (as he was out towing another vehicle). When questioning the driver he said that he patrols nine lots at random. If he happens to be in the area, he checks for parking tickets, and if one is not visible, he immediately tows. This seems unreasonable and a very aggressive practice as this particular lot is used by many Proctor's ticket holders, and if the attendant is late arriving, one should be able to return well before show time to settle up. We have parked in this lot many times over the years and it has never been a problem. However, I just learned of someone who had the same experience with this company. Quite honestly, this seems like a scam to me and it should be looked into by the lot owner, the police and the Schenectady business bureau, and I intend to follow-up. I recommend avoiding this company at all cost! Just to be clear, my comments are about Interstate Northeast, 104 Old Mill Lane, Schenectady, NY. The parking lot I'm referring to is a side lot owned by Bank of America, 500 State Street, Schenectady, NY, and I live in Halfmoon, NY - not California which somehow appeared in my post. read more

Towing -- 4 stars. Repairs -- 4 stars. Office taking responsibility for driver's negligence re coordinating with AAA -- 0 stars. The evening of the Friday before Labor Day, while she was on her way to see family in NH, my daughter's car developed problems on the Thruway. I advised her to call AAA which she did and, via the Thruway Authority, was put in touch with Bobar's Interstate Towing (which is part of this company). Their driver came to tow car. She showed him her AAA card. He noted she had AAA Plus and told her she could therefore have it towed up to 100 miles without charge, and so much per mile above that. She opted to have the car towed locally (to Bobar's repair shop), get a motel room, and rent a car in the AM to continue her journey. The tow truck driver was very courteous, actually taking her by 3 nearby motels before she found one that looked okay to her. However, he never got authorization from AAA to tow the car. I can understand his error, especially as he told her he'd been on call for many hours and still had numerous service calls still to go. However, this lead to Bobar's charging us over $100 for the tow. When contesting this error, we were told that the driver denied having been shown the AAA card, and that their drivers are very experienced and NEVER make errors, so, essentially, my daughter must be lying. (Except she only found out about the 100-mile tow possibility from the tow truck driver after she showed him her card.) After calling AAA and first being told not to pay for the tow, in the end our only recourse was to pay and apply for a refund from AAA, which is not guaranteed. Worst experience with a Towing company I have every had. Overcharged everything possible and rude. Avoid at all costs

RIPPED OFF! My daughter got a flat tire at 3 a.m. and the State Police, who came by to assist, contacted Bobar's Interstate Towing for her. No tickets were issued or arrests made, it was a flat tire. The tow truck driver arrived and quoted a price of $95.00 plus tax for the tow to Bobar's, which she agreed to, as it was 3:00 a.m. When we phoned the following morning to pick up the car, they stated that the price is $243.00 and refused to return our car until paid in full, and by the way, if you are not here by 3:00 p.m. the total will increase to $299.00. The customer service was abrupt and rude. I would walk 100 miles before using this tow service. read more

I rarely do reviews, however, I feel compelled to write this one. The level of professionalism by a certain driver and the so called manger/dispatcher/secretary, is nothing less than pathetic! And discusting! I recently had a conversation with one of the drivers...and his 6th grade education really presented itself, as well as his inability to reason with others when his communication skills were severely lacking. I proceeded to call Bobars directly and speak with the so called manager (maybe an 11th grade education) and the conversation was very similar to that of the tow truck driver... go figure. Now it's easy to see why they're of the same mentality, it's common practice at bobars to treat the stranded, paying customer, with absolutely no courtesy or as little as possible. In closing ... I would like to state its not stressful enough to be stranded on the side of thruway, but then the tow truck driver has to have an attitude. Furthermore, when you call the business to complain about services being less than substandard, you receive even more negitive feedback from the so called professional customer service manager... go figure... and have to pay for it also. Driver was terrific - but dispatch not so much. Waited HOURS for him to arrive. Called for service at 11:30 am. Received initial text with an eta of 1:25. Got a call from the driver after this eta saying they gave him the wrong address. He knew my neighborhood - said he was on his way. At about 2:15 I called dispatch asking where he was - was told he was on his way and would be there in 15 minutes. At 3:00pm I called again - put on hold for a while - another person came on the phone. My tow had been called to a car on the Thruway which "takes priority." I told her I understood but why hadn't anyone called me? She gave me pushback on how they can't be calling everyone who was waiting - I asked how many that was and was told it was a bunch. How long does it take to send an updated eta in a text?!?!??? She was pretty rude. Driver arrived at 3:30pm. He was fantastic - but I'll never choose them if I have another option. Wasted almost an entire day because they gave me NO customer support during the wait. read more
