The hallway was very funky smelling, it look dirty and I couldn't bring myself to stay there so I went to another Candlewood Suites on Tom Leonard Dr. in Richmond which was just as bad. I'm exhausted from traveling but I canceled the second day of my trip because I couldn't get another hotel room because of the holiday. I will be vacating these premises first thing in the morning. I pray I make it through the night. This is not a nice place to stay, if you are use to better. They don't even have ice machines here. Think twice about booking here.

The hotel charged my card 142.17 on 6/25! I called the hotel on 6/26 when I saw the pending charge and the hotel manger George Miller who was very matter of fact and rude stated "all hotels do this across the board to make sure the card is valid" I stated to him that's incorrect, why would my card be charged on 6/25 when I still have until 6/27 to cancel the room for free? George told me that I would have to cancel the room through the booking app and then a representative from booking.com would have to call him to cancel the room. I did just that and called booking.con the cancel the room and stayed on the phone on hold while he called the hotel the have the charge removed. Once the call ended with booking.com I called the hotel back and spoke with George again and he stated he took the authorization off. I asked for a corporate number and he says there is no corporate number very rudely on the phone, after asking him two more times he finally gives me the number to IHG. So today 7/3 the charge is no longer pending but now an actual charge. I spoke to my bank and they saw nothing coming back to the card. I call the hotel and George is not there so a young lady at the front desk stated it's showing as a charge and nothing was reversed or taken off. She stated she could not do a refund and that the manager George whom I spoke with will have to do the refund. So now we have a case of stealing money. DO NOT do business with this hotel, George Miller is stealing money and now I have an attorney involved. The funds are still not on the card.

There are several properties off I95, so they do have intense competition. The lot is very large and even when sold out there is room. A pet peeve is the amount of dirt from contractors that stay. The trash cans in front have maintained their boundaries. A big bonus is electric car hook ups. Property -built in September 2025. The hotel is maintained very well in spite of its heavy contractor use. The staff does a tremendous job keeping dirt and dust down considering. I did alert management on clean the stairwell with lots of contractor debris. Hotel amenities- Candlewood is an extended stay, so it has a full kitchen with supplies. I have utilized the supplies in the kitchen. Workout room is very nice, but will pick at it too since I'm a gym rat. Will breakout a separate. FREE Laundry on site. Coffee 24/7. Small store with drinks, snacks and toiletry items. Outdoor picnic and grilling area. Comfortable lobby with a huge big screen TV. Staff service - this is where they have shined. Front desk smiles, is eager to help. I have needed late checkouts and they accommodated me with my IHG status. Housekeeping staff overseen in the hall ways and elevator all have smiled. They do not offer an automated wake up call service. However, alarm clocks are in the room. Accommodations - Two room keys will be given to guest. One goes inside there. I've stayed in two room types a King and a Deluxe Suite. The rooms have a lot of thoughtful designs for business travelers. The kitchen is a prime example. The open closet is another that has an iron provided. There is plenty of drawer storage. Also a desk. Is present, but unsure if keeping this up. The two rooms were different on climate control. One had a wall and other window. The one would not drop past 68° and was not as comfortable as I would've enjoyed. Comfortable furnishings, especially the bed & pillows and quality liens. A in room safe was cool in my deluxe, but it did not work. Hot water inconsistent. Area convinces - There is a new Starbucks directly across the street in Rivers Bend. Also a Food Lion, liquor store and dry cleaners. Many more that are in the Rivers Bend Shopping Center. A Sheetz fueling station and CVS is walking distance. Exercise Room - one of the best weight and cardio rooms in a hotel I've experienced. They have a lot of varied equipment and I used it daily. The temps were kept cold which is perfect! It was also tidy with towels and wipe off cloths. However, I did bring some issues to the managements attention. The big screen tv was unplugged. They fixed that. One of the treadmills is out of order. None of the cardio machine have TV integration working. I like the news on when walking. A scale would be a nice to have. This is a property that I will continue to use and recommend.

I came across this suite about 2 weeks before checking in and it was still available within a week of check-in. The reviews I must say were a little bit frightening but I still went ahead and booked the two bed suite. Thiis was the only room that I could find available with the two bed option with a pull-out sofa as well and the half kitchen was a plus! Again overall the stay was good. The girls did mention a few stains on the sheets and in pulling back one of the bed sheets a ladybug was visible. I understand ladybugs are supposed to bring good luck so I wasn't too upset about that but again overall staying the weekend this past Friday night and Saturday night it was cool it was suffice the girls didn't have any other complaints. Breakfast was complimentary. Didn't use the parking garage but parking is available on site there is a garage and I believe it's $25 a day. Nevertheless, the check-in process was a breeze as well as the checkout process as well not sure the young lady that checked me in but she was to the point and everything was a 10 out of 10.... Just For Those few hiccups in the room. I do recommend this hotel but go at your own risk again the reviews ahead of time had me a little bit side-eyed, but overall glad we made this Choice! A Comedy of Errors (Except No One Was Laughing)…read more Let's start with the parking garage--because that's where the nightmare begins. I have never seen a more poorly designed parking situation in my life. The spaces are so tiny you practically need a shoehorn to wedge your car in, and good luck opening your door without creating new abstract art on your paint. To make things worse, the metal awning above the cars is literally falling apart. Not exactly confidence-inspiring. Once inside, things didn't get better. Our room was not Hilton standards by any stretch. It smelled like a jar of pickles and an ashtray got together and had a wild party. The front desk promised (three separate times!!) to put an ozone machine in to help with the smell--never happened. We identified the smell might be coming from the sink and were told someone would come check it--also never happened. They offered to move us over to the attached Hampton, which would've been fine... except other guests warned us there was no hot water over there. Meanwhile, back in the garage, we got stuck for over an hour because a tow truck was called for a car blocking another, only to discover the owners were out at dinner. Instead of moving the tow truck to let waiting guests out, we were all told to sit in our cars and wait until the owners returned. Where is the common sense in that?! Between the tiny parking spaces, the broken awning, the smelly room, the lack of follow-through from staff, and the hot-water-less Hampton, this was easily one of the most chaotic and frustrating hotel experiences I've had. Richmond has plenty of hotels--pick literally any other one.

At 11:15pm after hours of literally not being able to hear the TV in my room because of the ruckus going on outside I called again where the front desk clerk claimed that it was only 11:11pm (like that matters) and no one seemed to be closing the pool. I was there for work, the hallways are dirty and this place is filled the dregs of the world. The adults (probably the parents) of these little leaguers drunkenly walked up and down my hallway (beers and drinks in hand) slammed doors, wrestled one another in the hallway and yelled to each other 10 feet from my door. This went on to almost 1:30am. I understand that complete silence is not a realistic expectation at a hotel but this was just too much. The pool should not be open until 11pm at any hotel unless there is a function going on. I usually mind my own business but this place needs to get their guests under control. This was a Monday by the way not some weekend day for vacationers. There are a lot of hotels in that area and as I will be a regular visitor to Richmond I will never stay there again. Oh and by the way the internet is as slow as dial up and the elevator that only holds like two adults is so slow you better pack a lunch to go and get ice cuz their aint any ice machines on certain floors.

The staff was top notch, welcoming and attentive., The upstairs was warm and inviting (proper distancing and masks on) with two covered patios off the main dining room and bar overlooking Main Street and the new huge patio down stairs on the 17th St market side. We got cocktails at the bar and the gracious owner walked us downstairs to the large patio. He explained his plan (already in motion) of making a deli with bar and seating in a portion of the downstairs space, very cool. We sat on the patio with friends and enjoyed watching all the foot traffic around the market as well as a jazz duo (trombone and singer) on the corner. Now, the best part...Dinner. I had a classic Reuben, the GF had a Chicken salad croissant and our friends had a stuffed Hanover tomato and a pastrami and swiss on rye. The pastrami is done in house and was like nothing you will find locally, unbelievably tender, flavorful and perfect. Everything was super tasty, a good time was had by all and we look forward to more evenings on the patio and when they close Rosie Connolly's is right next door so...bonus. :)
