Avo Playhouse is a repurposed movie theatre in Vista...a very cool revitalized area with quite a few restaurants and at least 3 breweries within just a couple blocks. We saw the Beatles tribute band "Ticket to Ride". Our tickets were reasonably priced and the venue is small enough (seating for under 400) that there really aren't any bad seats. As a bonus, I was really happy that the bathrooms were large and clean. Only real disappointment was that there were no refreshments. It would be nice to have something simple, maybe just water, coffee, and tea? Definitely worth going back! BTW there's lots of free parking nearby.

I discovered this place from a friend whom daughter danced here and I thought I'd give it a try for my girls. I'm so glad I did!!! This dance studio doesn't just teach dance but also teaches your girls how to be great mentors and leaders as well! Everyone is so hands on from teenagers down to the little movers. My youngest is 6 and she is so inspired by Faith and her daughter Aaliyah (dance instructors) of this dance studio. They really instill great skills of dance and bonus teaching students great life morals as well! Not to be just great dancers but great human beings as well. The older girl dancers are pitching in to mentor the younger dancers around who not only look up to them but inspire to one day dance on their skill level as well. My eldest daughter has learned some much from attending this school and it she's mentioned how encouraging all the girls are that dance with her. I couldn't have ask for a better dance studio for my kids. I definitely recommend this dance studio to everyone!

Although this isn't the most up to date auditorium it's quaint and holds a rich history. Many art showcases have been held here throughout the years and it just feels very family centered and down to earth. Oh my gosh!!!! This was the best decision we made for our wedding!!!!…read more My husband and I just had our wedding this past Saturday and it was truly magical but one of the best parts of the day was our choreographed dance! Neither of us had any dance experience besides dropping it low at the club back in the day ( elder millennials ) so this was nerve wracking for us at first. We found McCann dance via another yelp review and booked the intro lesson on a whim. We ended up with Elisa McCann who happens to be an INCREDIBLE professional dancer and a fantastic teacher!! We had 7 weeks to get a dance locked in. Well, that we did. We met with her once a week up until our wedding and she customized choreography for us, pushed us out of our comfort zone just enough to WOW the crowd, but made sure the moves were things we were physically capable of doing. Every week we showed up to our lesson happy to share that we'd been practicing. I want to shout from the rooftop that this studio is incredible and I LOVED our custom wedding dance!!! Do it. Do it. Do it. Seriously, if you're debating doing it. DO IT!!!! Best decision ever!!!!

I started attending some of the Garden Club events this past couple of years and they are…read moreexceptionally well- organized, educational, a good variety of activities, and fun! The club facilitator really does a great job at switching things up. I especially love the annual holiday events. Garden Club grounds are lovely. I always go without expectations; I know that I'll learn something, I'll meet new people, and I go with an open-mindset and fun attitude! Great way to spend the day!

The event space is a great area for hosting dinners, reunions, birthdays, and anything where you need a blank canvas! There are tables and two types of chairs available for no extra cost. The Garden Club has a lot of meetings here, and their schedule is pretty tight sometimes, but if you need a space in Coastal North County, this is priced well and has a lot of parking! I should also mention the venue operator is very helpful and informative. He taught me how to use the PA, set up the video player to play on a projection screen, and helped with a lot of event-planning questions.

Saturday we attended a concert put on by Kainga Music at Moonlight Theater in Vista (awesome venue…read moreBTW). Kainga is a non-profit organization run by some of the most passionate people I have ever met. Coach Keli is the main instructor and Coach Phillip is his assistant instructor. The show was so entertaining and it is such a feel-good experience that you cannot keep from smiling throughout the entire performance. With public schools cutting music and art, I love that Kainga Music has brought music back to a limited number of schools and would love to see their program expand exponentially! The groups of students that were brought on stage to perform were kids that only had 5 lessons, 5 hours of music lessons with no way for them to practice in between. I would guess that the youngest were 7-8 and then all the way up to high school. They all learned at least 2 songs and they all had a great time performing (big confidence booster) and I have to say that watching Coach Keli lead the concert is, in its self, worth the price of admission! He is super passionate about music and you can see that he genuinely cares about the kids, congratulating and high-fiving every kid after their performance! Kainga Music also has lessons several times a week for the public. My husband and I have taken several classes and the group is so fun and supportive. It is amazing what they could do after 5 one hour lessons. I also loved seeing Keli and Phillip's other students, ranging from one just 9 years old, to parents and grandparents. What a diverse group playing together and all having the time of their lives. Who knows when one student will be inspired to go on with the steel drums or take up another instrument based upon their positive experience in these classes. As Kathy said, what a confidence booster for these school kids.

The members come from all walks of life. Multiple multi-lingual speakers, varying backgrounds, varying occupations, ages, educational levels... you name it! This diversity of members adds not only character but a unique experience to each meeting as each speech topic or impromptu response comes from a different place at its root. Secondly, this club has a mix of experienced and brand new speakers. There are folks who have are "Distinguished Toastmasters" (DTM) and have achieved the highest level of Toastmaster honors and there are members on their very first speaking assignment. The more senior members stay to mentor the new ones and all the guests who visit always remark on how supportive and safe the environment is. Truly astounding in this day and age! Lastly, the people are just good people. The club has a monthly social and members old and new come to enjoy each other's company. After all, it's a club, not a work assignment. May as well enjoy the camaraderie and revel in the unique makeup of this awesome place.
