Good course for the average duffer. My only mild complaint is that they close the beer/food concession area pretty early.

Beautiful municipal course in Inver Grove Heights! This course is in great condition and is a fair test. There are a variety of holes with spectacular elevation changes. Some of greens are tiny, some are massive with different tiers. All are in top condition. The clubhouse is fine and has a snack bar with sandwiches, dogs, and beer. The very nice lady there will make a hot dog for you and dress it with pickle, mustard, tomatoes, etc. All for $4 and it comes with chips. Some of the employees are a bit gruff but just ignore them and enjoy this super course. read more

We had 8 guys playing 36 holes spent a lot on golf food and drinks and they treated us like we were sneaking on the course. Telling us to hurry up when we were on the group aheads ass consistently. spent a loooot of money there and were very respectful and they treated us like garbage. Won't be back. read more

Phenomenal membership offerings! Very scenic and well maintained. Only negative experience I have had is that it can be quite busy at times, but have rarely if ever been paired with anyone who wasn't friendly and cordial. Challenging but fun course. With the executive nine hole course this has great opportunity for casual and/or beginners to play and not be overwhelmed, get on the main 18 hole course and it can be a lot to handle for those of us who just like to play and not have our verbal sanctification challenged! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I've never had a good experience at Inver Wood Golf. Maybe with the staff who seem to think they're the royalty of golf and the rest of us are mere peasants lucky to breathe the same air. Want to be treated like dirt while playing a round of golf? This is your place! But wait, it gets better. My clubs were STOLEN from the parking lot. And because I'm extra unlucky, my wallet was in the bag too. I figured the staff might care. Nope! I could have told them my puppy got kidnapped, and they would've been like, "That's nice, we're closing in 5." What really grinds my gears? Apparently, someone had their clubs AND purse stolen the day before! Yep. I guess theft is just the sport they actually care about here! But do they warn people? Nah, why would they do that? Where's the fun in preventing crime when you can just watch it unfold? So, if you enjoy overpriced golf with a side of attitude, combined with the thrill of possibly losing all your belongings in the parking lot, this is the place for you. STAY away from this course!!!! No course rangers to keep the pace of play moving. Young golfers tee off and play numerous balls, while a few are playing top less. Many golfers are waiting for greens to clear before even Tee-ing off! A lot of VERY SLOW play. Everyone, stay away, until and if they decide to address the poor play issues. Beautiful course with absolutely zilch concern for pace of play. I played a nearly 6 hour round of golf today due to slow play. Not a single ranger properly instructing slow groups to be found. When I reached out to the pro shop about the atrociously slow play they said there's nothing they can do about it. Perhaps they should visit proper courses like Legends or Chaska Town Course. There's plenty they could do about it. Skip this one until they decide they value pace of play and hire some rangers. read more

Sounds like these guys' woes are well-known here and on Google reviews, so I'm glad I'm not the only bearer of bad news. Long story short, this course just isn't worth the effort. Fun course, which I would usually say equates to me not caring if the staff sucks or not but honestly, they are so rude, inconsiderate and deranged that it makes the course not fun to play at all. I bought a patron card without second thought last summer because this is one of the closer courses to my house. I golfed there 16 times over the summer and only once - yes ONCE - did I not have any issues with how I was treated. Every other time I regretted buying the patron card but felt like I had to return to get my money's worth. Some things were just small things that left you scratching your head and wondering how you can run a business this way. Other things had lasting impact on me that I tell every golf fan I know of so they avoid this place. Which is why I'm writing this review. This course is fun, so if you can sneak on and play it without having to deal with anybody in the clubhouse, then go for it! Otherwise there are so many better options around the Twin Cites. What happened? The staff is terrible. First this short guy named Scott reems out a younger guy behind the front desk in front of my dad and I. He yells at the kid telling him that "he had no authority to give us a refund, that's not something they do". It was very awkward and unprofessional. Then there is this pony tailed cowgirl looking lady who's sole mission it is to try and catch someone violating a rule. She tripled checked that we had receipts, no water bottles on board, etc. Where's the trust in your members? And lastly, the took away the nice granite signs, they also took away all water jugs on the course in order to force you to buy water. But then the vending machines were all out of water!?!?! They needed to make changes to save the course, I'm just not sure they made the right ones.... I would not go here again just because of the staff. read more

Worst golf course in the world. I'd rather golf on I94 westbound during rush hour, or in purgatory, or In a broken hot tub that's just cold, maybe even Inside of a really cruddy Walmart with a bunch of kids running around that steal your ball. The staff here belong on a prank show, because I felt like I was being pranked when I walked in. If Ashton Kutcher wanted to prank people that golf, he would come here an not even change a thing. This is my favorite course in town. When you play here it feels like you are far from the city yet it is a 20 minute drive from Minneapolis. This course is hilly and heavily wooded with dramatic elevation changes. The course and greens are kept in great condition. The greens fees are a reasonable $36 for the quality of the course. The staff can be hit or miss if you get someone friendly...there are a few nice guys working there. Championship Course is very nice, and challenging. However the management of that place is terrible. No water coolers on course this year, never see a beverage cart...I mean never. They don't have breakfast on Sunday mornings (not even premade breakfast sandwiches or even doughnuts or pastries). The tee times are 8 mins apart and ALWAYS BEHIND. The pace of play is ridiculous as well...4.5+ hours!!! I've played about 15 rounds there in 2016 and this year total. I'm done! The course kept me coming back, but they raised their prices this year, are jerks half the time, and generally will not lift a finger to ensure their guests have a pleasant experience and return with their business. read more

Inverwood is a hidden gem. It's technnically a municipal course (owned by the city of Inver Grove Heights), but you wouldn't know it. Unless you live in the SE suburbs it's a bit of a drive, but it is located pretty close to 494/35E and 52, so it's not hard to find. It's also not difficult to get tee times, yet there is enough play to keep the course running and fully staffed. From the tips, it's 6700 yards with a 72.8 rating and 142 slope (Par 72). There is also an Executive course (Par 30) that I've never played but looks nice, as a couple of the holes run alongside the championship course. As indicated by the slope/rating, Inverwood is a difficult golf course. It's also very hilly, particularly on the Back 9. Overall, I'd say it's a fair test, with a mix of holes that give you some margin for error and those that are demanding. Hole #12 is somewhat ridiculous (240 yard Par 3 from the back tees, with a 100 foot or so elevation drop to a very small target) but also visually awesome. Hole #8 is an uphill 450 yard Par 4 that probably should be a Par 5, but then they give you a relatively easy Par 3 on #9. Even in my best rounds at Inverwood, I lose a ball or two in a hazard or O.B. The course is almost always in great shape with one notable exception. The bunkers are very inconsistent. Later in the season they are playable, but earlier in the year some can be hard as a rock while others have nice sand. There is a driving range here as well, though it's not what I would consider a good one. It's grass but sometimes there is virtually no grass to hit off of (all dirt). The putting green is large and located right on the way from the clubhouse to the first tee. Give Inverwood a shot. I've walked it plenty of times but almost always walk everywhere I play - take a cart if you don't want to deal with a lot of hills. read more

I was warned by other golf friends not to go to Inver Wood since the staff was so ungodly unhappy that you'd either see someone get chewed out for some silly thing or it would happen to you. Both happened. A man I was paired up with was walking and hand to use the restroom on the turn. It's a long way to the clubhouse so he asked the starter if the cart by the shack was a courtesy cart he could take to the clubhouse restroom, he was very polite but the response from the starter was so unsolicited and hostile we were all just embarrassed for him. He told him he wasn't sure what a courtesy cart was but since he paid to walk he could walk to the restroom. There was no grace or class just an opportunity to take a nice person and wreck him to feel like a big man. Aging middle age dude not happy with his life o guess. The guys at the cashier were another whole brand of white trash. I won't go into what I witnessed but someone is going to bust one of them in the mouth at some point. Don't go there, the Metro area has such nice people working at nearly all other golf courses that care about patrons and really want them to just have fun. Whoever manages that joint should be fired and consultants brought in to assess and evaluate what the next steps are to make it a place people want to go to and not participate in cheap deals. Fun, challenging, and very playable golf course. Great workout if you want to walk. Great visual experience, especially the back 9. Service has improved the past couple of years, despite all the complaining. Weekends are slow - don't expect anything more. Still room for improvement (e.g., ball washers on every hole). I have to disagree with Mark on this one. There are a few decent holes on this course, however there are no flat lies anywhere. You could hit a decent drive and it'll hit a slope and be off into the woods. I do like the executive course here but the people there think this place is a lot better than it is. The starter guy, he's pretty cool. But the douches in the clubhouse shouldn't be around people. For my time and money, I'd rather go up to Pahlen or Keller and play those if I'm golfing in the city. I don't live too far from this place and it's the last place I'd golf. read more

I recently golfed there this past Saturday and had the worst golf experience this year. I have 2 stars because the course is well maintain and challenging but service was horrible. They were not very friendly and they must not know how to book tee times. I know they said they were having problems with their online booking on Friday, but I booked my tee time for 3 golfers on Monday. Got there and they said I only had 2 golfers booked and did not have phone to show my confirmation for 3. Lucky that there system was messed up and they paired my group with one other person. We started golfing and it was busy by hole 5 a golf attendant was telling us to pick up the pace. We could not hit because the group in front of us was within distance of hitting. Once group in front of us got to green the golf attendant told us to tee off but that we had to let the group of 3 go past. Hmmm we had to wait for them the rest of the way. Then when we hit the back nine the golf attendants told us to pick up the pace. We golfed the back 9 waiting for the group that pasted us and nobody within 2 holes of us the rest of the way. I would never go back and same goes for people in my group. If you are booking a tee time do it over phone and during the week so you hopefully will not get rushed to run through the course. read more

Are you 106 years old and love to play golf? This is the place for you! Run by old white guys who still believe in the very rigid rules of 1960s golf etiquette (and will let you know it!). Currently playing a five-some with my 10 year old nephew who they wouldn't let play with an adult foresome and charged $51 to play. Groups got caught up on hole 4 and the ranger came to chastise my 75 year old father about the rules. So fun, Harold! Anyway, Minnesota had about a bajillion other golf courses. Businesses are closing left and right. I think IGH needs to consult with other suburbs like Eagan, Woodbury, and Maple Grove to find out what they are doing wrong. Concord Blvd down by 55/52 is turning into a ghost town and those empty store by Target are pathetic. We need a decent grocery store and more restaurants! I always suggest this course when friends or family and I are going out for a round of golf. Both the Championship 18 and the Executive 9 are very well maintained. I also like for the exeption of a few parts of the course that the two courses are separated from each other and none of the holes are parrell or perpindicular. All of your shots keep you honest. the fairways are always short and green and the rough is always managable to hit out of. Even if your having a off round it is very difficult to be frustrated with the course because of the beauitful scenery all around the course. It is shaded in most areas and the entire facility is in great condition. The one flaw I have found is there are a few spots on both courses where play can slow down and your wait to tee off may increase but that is the biggest issue I have with the course and theres a lot worse things you could have to dea with. I extremely disappointed. This is my first time ever at this course and had left immediately after arriving. I am not a golfer but love to ride in a golf cart occasionally and watch my spouse and learn the sport. We rented a cart for me to watch but was told that I would not be able ride along. That there would be too many people all at one time at a hole. We explained to the gentlemen that one: I did not have clubs, Two: I don't leave the cart and would sit and watch the whole time. The gentleman was extremely rude about the whole situation. I was very embarrassed and very hurt by this horrible service. Apparently at this course you have to call ahead of time to not only book your tee time, rent a cart, and to let them know you will be having a rider. I would not recommend this course; to spouses that love t watch their spouse play golf. Please just drive 15 minutes up 494 to Eagle Valley. read more

The course itself is nice but there are a few issues. The service was horrible. I had only 2 people and they would not allow us to go out as a twosome insisting we pair with people we do not know. Yet they sent a twosome out behind us. The 2 gentleman at the desk were rude and disrespectful. Executive course suits my needs...convenient, reasonable price, decent layout with some challenges, pretty to walk with separation of trees between most holes. Wish players would fix their ball marks on the green...disrespectful and lazy. I usually fix mine plus a few more. Water coolers are more often empty or quite close to it...and warm. Never played the 18 hole course. Putting green is pretty nice but there are holes open on only about one third or maybe half of it at a time making it often quite a challenge to find a hole to putt to. As for the range, it is an absolute joke! Yes there are practice balls, buckets, distance markers to make it qualify as a "range" I suppose but the grass practice area is horrid! I went yesterday and there was 10 percent random grass, 90 percent dirt in the 75 yard wide practice zone. And the grass, when it is more plentiful as the practice zone is newly located, is lacking as it is long, flat and weed like at best making a poor surface to hit balls. I don't get it at all...a mystery. I get this place isn't Augusta National but I also go to Eagle Valley to practice and pay the same for a bucket and practice off a very nice grass surface that is consistently maintained. 4 stars for the Exec 9 hole, 3 stars for the putting green and 1 star for the range for an average of 3. The staff has typically been quite polite and pleasant. Worth a try. read more

This was by far the worst course I've ever played at. We had called at 11:30 am to make a tee time for 6:30 pm. They responded and said "just show up at 6:30 and we'll try and get you out playing." We came at 6:30 and they rudely responded to us saying they normally wouldn't let us play, but would make an exception. We get to the first tee, and have to wait about 10 minutes for the group in front of us to finish, which was no problem at all. We tee off and are in the middle of hitting our second ball when the guy behind us started screaming "hurry up!!". I was shocked, as we were playing relatively quickly, despite having to wait for the people in front of us. Then to make matters worse, a man working at the course drove up in his cart and started yelling at us to hurry up because we were playing too slowly. We tried explaining to him that there was a group in front of us, but he continued to yell. I've been playing golf for 15 years and have never been treated so poorly at a course. If you're looking to play golf, I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

Great course, Awful service. they sent a 3 some of walkers off the 10th tee, on a sunday, in front of our 3 some of riders as we made the turn. We had a 2 some on a cart in front of us that was playing a good pace but we ended up waiting for these 3 walkers every hole on the back 9. Not only that but if they would have thought about what they were doing they would have realized the closest group behind us was 4 walkers 3 holes back. We called the pro shop as we waited for them on the 10th tee and they just blew us off and said it was the starters who sent them off the 10th tee. When you go out on a Sunday and pay that much for a round you should not have to worry about people cutting in front of you. Paying close to $220 for the 3 of us to golf you just expect more. read more
