I have played at Rich Valley for about 10 years. Know the owners and employees very well. They are great people. One year I worked as a Ranger and had a blast. The course is great for families and others who may want somewhat of a challenge or let your children hone their golf skills. We have introduced many friends and family to Rich Valley. With three 9 hole courses, it is almost always easy to get on and play around. I read the other reviews and wonder if they were actually at Rich Valley or just having a bad day. Course ownership is completely oblivious to basic golf etiquette. On my last trip to the course, one of the other players was blaring country music and had their dog running around off-leash (which ran ahead of me as I was teeing off; very annoying, inappropriate and alarming distraction). After contacting the club, I was informed the owner has provided permission for this behavior. There are a number of affordable courses in the area that you can use to get in a quick 9, and I guarantee they don't allow free-ranging pets on the course. I definitely will not be back. read more

Went for an early morning 18 on a Saturday. Check in was smooth, but we had to try 4 carts until we found 1 that worked. Driving range is a strange location, which had people hitting lots of range balls onto the 1st fairway. All tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great shape. Overall, a fun course. Played Red & White. Will be back again. read more

My brother and I were treated very disrespectfully by the most prickish ranger. This guy literally came up to our cart and started taking our Pinnacle range balls from the slots they were sitting in. It was explained to him that we had been given those balls from a relative who works at The Refuge. The ranger had quite literally the most disrespectful, ugly demeanor I can recall in recent history. There just simply wasn't any need for him to act that way. This was a staple for my brother and I, and there is zero chance we will ever return after the disrespectful head case treated us. I guess what they say is true; you give a guy a golf cart and a walkie talkie, it goes right to his head. For the record, this happened last year and I just realized now that it was unfinished and not posted. I share this so that if the previous year's manager from the date of this post has been let go (I wouldn't be surprised) I wouldn't want to current - and hopefully better suited to be around the human race - ranger to be held accountable. It should also show that this isn't simply a reactive post. I've apparently had an entire year to revisit this and decide whether or not it should be posted. And as you can see, I've posted it. That should reflect the extent of this guy's prickishness. read more

If you're a low-handicapper looking for a course in amazing shape, with really narrow challenging par-4s, long par-5s and the like, this isn't the place. But, this place has character and it brings a certain level of challenge for beginner-plus golfers. For the price, this place is good. The greens are in good shape. The tee boxes are okay. The course plays fairly. I like it here. Again, it's not The Wilds, Prestwick or Inverwood. But it's $26 for 18 holes. And Youth-on-Course rates are very reasonable for the kids. So, I am a fan. read more

Played here on a friday afternoon with a buddy and it was pretty busy. Lot of beginners so play was really slow. The course was pretty short and very straight. They have 3 nines Blue, Red and White. I played the Red and White courses. A lot of short drivable par 4's and a couple long par 3's (220+) The course was in good shape and the price was reasonable. A good place to take beginners out to learn the game. read more

The workers and owners are unbelievably rude, nasty ect. First time girl working there with baby was very unfreindly and rude. Went again this year and there were a few left over balls on range so i hit them then went in to pay for round only to get berated for hitting the balls left by somebody. should have turned around and left. Then went today -last time!!! Ranger who I think was owner or part of this nasty family came and ask if we were members -He knew we were not-and got on us hard! cause we went to a hole that was not the next hole on that nine and told us to go to the proper hole very Rudly almost threatening! These people are nasty-never ever goiing back. read more

Lots of option 3 different 9 hole options and also a driving range. They also have golf carts. All this for 25 bucks and a solid course to brush up on all skills with a few long holes and a couple short! read more

This is a flat and uninteresting course, which was fine for our purposes of getting in a late afternoon practice round. The beverage cart woman was friendly and regular. The pro shop staff was nice. But the ranger, who turned out to be the owner, was a total jerk. We play all over the Twin Cities and have never been treated so unprofessionally. We'll never be back. read more

Nothing I hate more than bad reviews but one of the employees (Emily I believe) caused us to have a couple of very unpleasant experiences. First visit she forgot to give us our refund and CC, we let that slide and went back again..second visit she called the cops on us and told them we were not ok to drive? Police came found us hanging out in the bench and not even attempting to drive. I hope you get the picture. read more

DO NOT PLAY HERE, IT IS A SCAM...Quite possibly the worst service I have ever received at a golf course. When I called to make a tee time, they were very rude and somewhat standoffish. When I arrived, I paid for the twilight rate, which should've allowed me to play as many holes as I could before dark. Everything was going fine and well on the first nine, except for the extremely slow play, which made us wait at least 10 minutes at every hole. But, as we made the turn, it started to drizzle a bit. Being that there was over an hour of daylight left, we tee'd off. Just as we were leaving the tee box, an employee drove past us, went inside, blew the horn and then came back out. When we asked her what her reason was, she claimed that she had nothing to do with blowing the horn and that someone else saw "lightning." I'm no meteorologist, but I can guarantee you that there was no lightning anywhere in sight and the little rain we did have passed over in less than 5 minutes. It was obvious to everyone there, that this was just a ploy to allow the workers to go home early and screw us out of our money. I wouldn't normally be this mad, but the fact that the worker lied to us, just shows the lack of respect this course has for paying customers. Historically, I had been a loyal customer playing here 5-10 times per year, but after this horrendous experience, I will seek out courses which actually value their customers and don't try to pull a fast one on them. read more
