I personally enjoy the adult classes but I've seen a few of the classes for kids and they all have such a great time; makes me wish I was a kid again! But what really makes this place stand out are the people, especially Master JK. For kids he makes the classes fun but incorporates discipline into each lesson. And for adults you get to learn from a sixth degree black belt! Definitely need to check out Moohan if you're looking to learn martial arts.

Taekwondo Generations was my birthday present to myself on my 40th birthday. Having been very…read moreinvolved in Taekwondo in my youth I was searching for a dojang that embodied the core values of Taekwondo that had become so important to me as a young man. Values such as self-discipline, humility, hard work, and most importantly the community you find in a great Taekwondo School. Taekwondo Generations is the embodiment of those values! Coming back to the sport in my 40's (it was well over 20 years since my last class when I started at TKD Generations) has been its own lesson in discipline and humility but I have enjoyed every minute and am so glad to have found my new Taekwondo do home. Master Chong and His wife have been so great to me as I have gotten re-acclimated to the sport. They are always encouraging and supportive both in and out of class. I have now been at the school since we opened and have re-earned my second-degree black belt and am continuing to train on weekly basis. I can't imagine a better place to be practicing this sport I have loved since I was a boy. I have also had the pleasure of joining the staff of Taekwondo Generations and I can attest to the fact that Master Chong holds himself first of all but our staff to the highest standard for teaching and working with our students and their parents to see each student reach their own best. He brings out the best in everyone around him every day. Lastly the recent addition of and additional Master, Master An to our full time team has added another layer of world class instruction to what I believe was already one of the best schools in our state. I am honored and humbled to be part of the Taekwondo Generations family both as a student and an instructor. Join us on the mat to learn the worlds most practiced martial art from the best. Thank you Master Chong!

I enrolled my 7 yr old daughter here in hopes primarily to emulate my experience with a martial…read morearts at the same time of my life. I did 2 years of Judo, and that seemed to help me focus a little more on what mattered. In college, I got back into it with Shotokan style karate for 2.5 years. I do not think the style of martial arts particularly matters much when you start out. What matters is that you follow a set of principles, are able to listen, coordinate yourself amongst your peers, and perhaps get something out of the time in school. I've read all of the previous comments. I agree some of the sentiments, but I can also see counter arguments. This school isn't worth the $160/monthly tuition if you are not participating in each of the three offered classes. Attendance and participation is key. The 30 minute lesson plan is optimal for little kids - and yes, out of the 30 minutes maybe 10-15 minutes is actually focused on what is learning the forms, kicks or "martial arts" material which helps you advance. The rest is broken into formalities, drills, meditation which are also helpful in developing mindfulness, respect and wellness. As your child ranks, concentration increases, and the lesson should also increase to 1 hr long. It will become necessary to attend additional classes to continue to advance, and even private lessons if you are interested in the advanced belts beyond brown - which is at least a 5 year commitment. Unfortunately if you transfer in from another martial arts program, you do not get credit for previous rank, and must start all over, albeit, you should theoretically advance much quicker because for example blocks and knife hands are essentially the same between karate and taekwondo. The differences are subtle. Except of course if Grand Master Seo knows or acknowledges the rank from the former school. I agree with the comment that English is not a primary language so Grand Master and his wife, who own the school, aren't particularly chatty. And if you have a question, it's probably best to address it with one of his pupil-instructors - and if they do not know - they can hunt it down for you. This school is close by which was the primary reason we joined. Apparently one of the pupils made it into the Olympics, but I still do not know who. I felt that the free introductory class was good, but the private lesson showing how your child could break a thin board was a little cheesy, especially because Ms Anna, a black belt, broke a popper for a special sound effect which she tried to hide but the smell of sulphur was present, and the replay of the video showed her throwing the popper chaff on the ground, that left me feeling a bit like, oh boy this place tries to emphasize more "show". This goes back to the fundamentals of the program: are you going to learn the martial art ? Is this program going to help you in a street fight ? Sometimes, perception is the best deterrent. Is your kid going to make a stand of show ? Some may some may not. However, if you need to back it up with reality, then perhaps this school does not provide all the necessary skills immediately. In time yes, but in the immediate future no. This "showmanship" is not necessary, but certainly all about salesmanship. Despite knowing about his sales tactics, I chose to enroll my daughter. I still believe that the exposure to martial arts - the highly structured learning: forms, the kicks, respect, discipline, honoring tenants and others - maybe it will help her to understand how vulnerable we as humans are, and to help protect that some day. I agree that the contracts that you sign here require advanced notice to get out of. If you plan to leave, and want to discontinue, you must plan and communicate with Grand Master and his wife, the date of your departure, as early as possible. They can seem oppressive if you are not a planner. I think if you aren't interested in learning about Eastern philosophy / martial arts and just want self defense mitigation, there are private instructors from military or police who give those sorts of classes. This is not that.

He is sneaky and will charge unauthorized credit cards even if you used it once and asked for another payment to be used. He does zero instructing; rather it's other men that do. These men are very good and in my opinion the sole reason people join Pius. I am very unhappy with hi business practices and overall lack of respect. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Things to consider: 1. He took my sons trophy that he won at his first tournament and gave it another winner because he didn't want to look bad because he was "hosting". We had to harass him for a week to replace the trophy my son won and he actually tried to give us a 2017 trophy instead of 2018. In the end, over a week and a half later, we got the trophy but it didn't feel the same and my son was very disappointed. 2. He has no respect for anyone. He refers to me as "dear" even though I have a husband who he has met. He also has a wife and it's really disrespectful as a business owner and man in general. 3. He technically stole from me and used an unauthorized card. When I had initially signed up I was going to use one card than opted out and chose another. He kept both cards on file and when the one I wanted to use didn't go through, he used the other without giving me a courtesy call or father my permission. Then when in confronted him about it he said he doesn't have to ask anyone to get his money. That was the last straw for me.

He has a special way of working with the kids that they don't even realize how much they are learning at the time. I gave them 4 stars because there is some confusion regarding how the kids receive their stripes ( each person that works there tells me something different or just flat out doesn't know), price confusion, and either one of the instructors wears a very strong cologne or the cleaning supplies they use is extremely strong. Either way, I always leave with a headache I also get annoyed by the students who are waiting for the next class. They are very loud and rude. For a studio that talks and teaches about respect, they should practice what they preach by telling them to be quiet.
