All three of my children went to this preschool. They had so much fun and learned a lot. The school…read moreis play based which allows the children to explore and learn at their pace. The staff is wonderful. They take the time to know your child and help them in areas that they struggle. Among many things that are good it's wonderful to be able to participate in helper days. You can see how your child is doing along with meeting their friends in the class. I enjoyed helping throughout the year! I would recommend this school to friends and family. It's a great environment for children and parents.

We love the Co-Op Nursery school! He then went through their other classes - 2-year old, 3-day, and PreK. He is now doing great in Kindergarten and loves school and I feel that the Co-Op is a big reason why. My three-year old now goes to the Tuesday/Thursday class from 9 to 11 am and his teachers are wonderful - patient and caring and they are so dedicated to helping the kids participate in a lot of fun and educational activities. My 15-month old will start soon with the parent-tot class also. It is so fun to watch the little ones interact with each other and explore the activities and toys in the room. Since it is a Co-Op, you have the opportunity to participate in your child's education by being the third grown-up in the classroom once every 6 to 8 weeks. (Except for parent-tot where you stay each week.) If you work or otherwise are not able to be in the classroom, there is an option that the school can provide an aide. (Just costs a little bit more.) All of the staff are very special and so great with the kids! (And they often have good parenting advice too!)

First, they have two accreditations for their teaching curriculum and testing. Awesome. Secondly, they have an awesome open area motor skill area inside! It is great to know even during winters they have the room to tumble and play. Third, they have a huge kitchen with a cook who makes everything there the day of. They have a ton of field trips and exciting activities. In fact, I am trying to take off a morning of work to be a chaperone for their "Rainforest Cafe" field trip. My an loves this place and the security is awesome. No one can enter unless you ring in on the video phone. Sweet and safe. The only reason I am giving it one less than 5 stars is because uveal ready noticed there may be issues with challenging students who are a little ahead. This is important to see where the needs are. I understand they keep costs lower by only doing toddlers to kindergarten but the fewer teachers still need to see where certain students may need more. For the price, it is by far fantastic and I highly recommend it.

I've been taking classes through the park district for a couple years now, but only just started…read morevisiting the rec center. I wanted to start running, but terrible weather was preventing me from being outside, so I hit upon a solution of buying a multi-use pass for the fitness center and using the treadmill. I didn't really want a monthly or quarterly pass because I'm just not dedicated enough to come regularly enough to make it worth it. But a 10-use pass for $27 or a 20-use pass for $36, that's pretty reasonable. This building is clearly an old school that was converted. I haven't explored all of it but there seem to be several rooms used for martial arts, dance, yoga, and probably other fitness classes. I've mostly been in the fitness center, which seems to be either one big or two smaller classrooms combined and converted. The good: There's all the basics and essentials -- weights/strength training on one side, including some machines, balance balls, resistance bands, etc. The cardio side has a few treadmills, a couple of ellipticals, a stair climber, a few bikes and a couple TVs. There is a water fountain, a restroom and a shower room. There also about 8 lockers for stashing stuff. The not-as-good: It just doesn't feel like a dedicated gym facility. I was spoiled by Wood Dale's rec center, a town about a third the size of Lombard. Wood Dale's has two proper locker rooms with showers, a free-to-the-community walking/running track and a fitness center that's bigger and has nicer, newer equipment. They also have a somewhat wider variety of classes. Lombard's facilities feel somewhat makeshift. They're a bit cramped, there's one shower with a note about letting it warm up for 15 minutes in winter, no indoor track, no spin classes. In my dream world, Lombard would take over the old Kmart space sitting and rotting at Roosevelt and Finley and make it a shiny new dedicated rec, fitness and community center. But in the real world, I'll make do with the adequate facilities at Sunset Knoll and keep running on the treadmill.
