Wow. I cannot say enough good things about everyone at IQ K9 and the changes they made for us and our puppy. Bodhi is an 11 month old 100 lb dog. We had reached a plateau in our abilities to train him and he was not only becoming unruly and not listening to commands and "no", he was beginning to resources guard around us and the other dogs. He was becoming a real problem and a liability. We enrolled Bodhi in the 3 week immersion program and after 3 weeks we received a call asking to keep Bodhi another week, free of charge! As Bodhi still had some issues following commands in times/ areas of high distraction. After 4 weeks, Bodhi is miraculously a completely changed, new and improved dog. His energy level is even different. Much more manageable and he is still the happy goofy puppy we fell in love with. He listens to commands. He drops toys when told to do so. He stays on place when instructed to do so. His resource guarding is gone. I can walk him with the leash dangling from my pinky finger. No pulling. Bodhi is so much easier to love now, not that he wasn't before. He is an amazing companion and such a delight to play with now. The team at IQ K9 really took the time to get to know Bodhi. They shared things with me about his personality that I wasn't picking up on. I felt like they loved him as much as I do and they explained things to me in such a way that helped me understand Bodhi and myself (style of training) better. I adopted a 9 week old Xoloitzcuintle puppy and was quickly overwhelmed with how high of energy she was (is) and certain behaviors I didn't like. She was biting HARD 24/7, jumping constantly, did not like being held or touched at all (which made her necessary skin care near impossible), and she needed help with potty training, crate training, leash training....basically everything. The most difficult things for us were the hard biting and jumping. Luis called us for our free phone consultation and he was very thorough and knowledgeable. He asked us tons of questions about her personality, her behaviors, our home environment, and her interactions with people and our other dog. We were hesitant at first about the e-collar, but when Luis explained how it would be used and that they would teach us how to properly use it, we felt reassured. For our first session, the trainer came out to our house and immediately started teaching us how to get Keya to calm down with the jumping and biting. She explained we needed to work on impulse control and THEN commands. She taught us the words to use and gave us a packet explaining when we would use each word. We practiced inside, in the backyard, and in our parking lot (away from grass since she wasnt fully vaccinated yet). We got so many great tips right away. We still felt overwhelmed so the trainer texted us to keep checking in on how we were doing. Our second lesson was another home visit and it definitely helped us realize our dog's primary focus was impulse control, so we kept working on it. Our puppy still kept doing the unwanted behaviors and my wife and I were so exhausted and frustrated that we texted IQ K9 asking if we could bring her to them sooner than planned. They agreed, and we brought her in for drop off. She ended up staying a whole month, and when it came for the day of pick up, we met with Logan at the training facility/home, and Logan took their time re-explaining the commands, answering our questions, then training us on the e-collar. At this point, we got to say hi to our puppy, then we went outside and immediately started practicing commands with our puppy. Logan showed us how to do something, then my wife and I took turns trying. When we made errors, Logan kindly corrected us, which we are so grateful for. After 2-3 hours, it was finally time for us to go home. We were so nervous to bring Keya (our high energy breed puppy) home, but we were SO shocked and impressed on how much progress she made. IQ K9 truly did amazing work with Keya that we never thought possible. Since she has been home, we have had some difficulties, but we expected that, and Logan prepared us for that. Logan told us there would be mistakes for us and Keya, and that we all needed to find our groove and continue the commitment to training for it to stick. We rescued Beary, a shepherd/malinois mix, in April 2024 who had been adopted once and returned. Beary was insecure and reactive to other dogs. We tried a San Diego trainer, but did not get the results we were looking for. We are very thankful that we found IQ K9 in Valley Center. When we picked up Travis after his 2 week immersive training, he was confident and excited to work to be a more obedient dog. We live in LA, so we drove 2 hours each way for Travis, and the experience & results were well worth it. Travis had 3 main issues we wanted to correct: 1) Going crazy and barking uncontrollably at certain dogs, 2) Jumping on people to say hi when they come close, and 3) General recall. I was very hesitant on sending my Korean Jindo; Lollipop, for training away from home for 3 weeks. But I knew I had to because she was showing my 12 year old Aussie that she was the alpha by once in a while jumping on him and penning him down. We had to stop that aggression and we were referred to IQ K9. And I'm very happy we were! The phone call with Luis to see which immersion program she would need showed us how knowledgeable Luis was with her breed, and that the program itself was going to be perfect for her to help her not only with her aggression, but with her stubbornness, skittishness, her barking, and other bad habits she had. The training is 1, 2, or 3 weeks but because Lollipop was being aggressive Luis recommended the 3 week training. It was hard having Lollipop away from home for 3 weeks, but we got pictures, videos, texts, and phone calls on Lollipop's progress. It was wonderful to see how the trainers were teaching her, along with teaching us with the videos. I could tell they loved her with all of the pet names I would hear the trainers call her! That made me feel comfortable knowing she was being taken care of. Stani, Luis, Logan, and all the other trainers made Lollipop feel comfortable there! The trainers all understood my dog, which helped with her training. The program uses the positive reinforcement training technique. This helped Lollipop guide her towards the desired behaviors with the help of the E-collar. IQ K9 even helped us with her bad behaviors like barking, pulling on the leash, and not coming when called. Lollipop might start barking when the UPS person is at our front door, but all we have to do is say the command QUIET and she instantly pays attention!! IQ K9 has honestly made her an obedient dog. Let me just start off by saying Stani, Luis, and their team are AMAZING!!! My sister and I were referred to IQ K9 by our friend who had very successful results after enrolling her dog in private training classes. Since we live in LA, we were initially hesitant to reach out because of the distance. We were also worried about putting our dog in a board and train program as we heard many horror stories about them. However, we are so glad we chose IQ K9 for our 3 year old Shiba Inu, Mooncake's training. The main issues we were experiencing with Mooncake included resource guarding, aggression towards dogs and strangers, and biting. I first had a virtual consultation with Stani and loved how honest and upfront she was about how Mooncake's problem behaviors could have possibly stemmed from. She also gave advice as to how we could start implementing changes in the house even prior to a formal training program. We then had an in-person meet and greet and brought Mooncake down to SD to meet with Stani and Luis. From the beginning, they were quick to pick up on Mooncake's behavioral issues. They recommended a 2-3 week immersion program for Mooncake. Since we were going to be out of the country for 2-3 weeks, we decided to enroll Mooncake in a 2 week program first and if needed, extend to a 3 week program. During the training program, we were provided updates and videos every 2-3 days of Mooncake's progress. Stani was very upfront with us and towards the middle of the 2 week program, she let us know that Mooncake was progressing but likely not at the speed we would have wanted to. She recommended that we either extend another week of training or she would give us a full refund. I truly appreciated Stani and her honesty. We were initially hesitant on extending Mooncake's training for another week because we missed him so much. However, we decided to purse another week of training as we were already seeing significant improvement just with the videos. When it was time to pick Mooncake up after his 3 week program, we were SO IMPRESSED with his progress. Let me tell you, it was like night and day. Mooncake was so much more obedient and receptive to our commands. Stani and her team use a mixture of positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement (prong collar and e-collar). At the go-home lesson, Stani showed us the correct way to use the collar equipment. We are so amazed by how Mooncake's biting, resource guarding, and aggression were corrected during the short time with Stani's team. We adopted a Malinois at 3 years old and she was the sweetest hooligan at home but lacked confidence when we left the home, leading to some behavioral issues. We were referred to IQ K9 by owners who said they would not trust any one else with their dogs. Life-Changing! Best Money We Have Every Spent! Miracle! We found out about IQ K9 from a good family friend when we were at our wits end with our 7 month old white lab puppy, Sandy. We were struggling with her unruly, dominant behavior while trying to meet all the needs of our family of four. I decided to reach out for a consultation phone call and after talking to Luis, I KNEW we needed their help. At 7 months, we had put in countless hours trying to train Sandy into being an obedient dog but nothing was working. She was still very mouthy, jumped on everyone, ripped up the yard, chewed wood chips, and couldn't be trusted to be inside or outside our house without getting destructive. We were all pretty miserable because Sandy was running our household despite us putting forth our best effort to train her. During our initial phone consultation, Luis made me feel that Sandy could definitely reach her potential and be trained out of the nuisance behaviors. I don't think I'm being unreasonable for expecting the same service. I sent my dog here for training and paid for the 3 weeks because I wanted him to have continued training and I liked that I could board him where he was playing and spending time with other dogs. They recently sold their business and it looks like the dogs are kept in kennels and only come out during their allotted workout rotation when they're boarded. Feels more like prison vs boarding. We recently got our third pup, a St. Bernard / poodle who at his cute age of 7 months is a healthy 75 lbs. IQ K9 was recommended by a colleague at work. Given our pup's size and knowing he is going to get bigger we wanted to get the jumping on people under control and not scare people when they walk into our house (not because he's aggressive but because of his size and how excited he gets when he sees new people). 7 days with the IQ K9 team and our clumsy, overly excited, goofy pup was still his cute self but with manners. THANKS SO MUCH, Lianne, Brett and the team of trainers @ IQ K9 We totally appreciate you and what you have done for Ta'ku...and our family! We adopted Ta'ku as a wee bear cub @ just a month old. She lost her mama and was separated from her siblings at 2 weeks old. We nurtured her and her gut health to give her the best start we knew how. However with an aged dog at home and this little one once she became of substantial size it was clear she had some resource guarding issues (she bit twice trying to guard her prized bone) and she had a lot of fear of the world, ie diving under parked cars as she was walked, she would cower when there were loud noises or dogs barking at her. She didn't walk well at all on a leash. etc We are Jeepers and like to go out with groups and have her along but she really didn't like the people much or other dogs. She does love the Jeep rides. She loves learning tricks and playing. She now interacts with other dogs in play "properly" and engages well with our "old man" our 14lb 10 yr old dog. She recalls wonderfully. She is amazingly behaved in a mall/people setting. She clearly loves to work. Now she is able to join us when we go out most of the time. She is great with strangers and people coming into the home. I am so very thankful..... the trainers will tell you she is a different dog... she did us proud and she is so very happy now. My wife and I recently completed our Puppy Immersion class with Bret and his team! It was one the best experiences we have ever had. Bret met with us multiple times and while Tank (our little Jack Russell) was in training for two weeks we always knew that we actually needed the training as well. We were struggling with our 1 year old German shepherd, Lola. Although she new some basic commands, she lacked confidence and was fearful. We knew she really needed immersive socialization with other dogs and IQ K9 seemed like a good fit. The three week program was wonderful for her. IQK9 did an excellent job training my puppy. I enrolled my Pit Bull pup in the two week training program because she wasn't listening to commands. She would listen sometimes and at other times she would just ignore them. She is very sociable and she would want to approach strangers and other dogs to play. IQK9 was able to to teach my dog how to focus on my commands without getting distracted. She now comes when she's told and heels when we are walking in public even with there are distractions. She walks with confidence as she knows what is expected of her. Thank you to the trainers at IQK9 for giving me more freedom with her. We adopted a young Malinois German Shepherd mix stray from Mexico and knew that we wanted a dog that would behave with other dogs, people and particularly our young grandkids. 4 year update on the training. Our dog Leroy was a handful and he had some issues with leash reaction and resource aggression but after the training sessions his behavior did a complete 180. We had been struggling to train our lively boxer puppy, but were not having much success. I had read training tips and watched videos and even took a class with other families and their dogs. We just couldn't seem to get past her wild behavior and get her to pay attention. (She was not mean, just playful and willful.) We were ready to give up and we needed some serious help! I saw a video by IQK9 on YouTube and was so impressed that I decided to call - I had seen their vehicles in town, so I knew they were local. That was the BEST CALL I HAVE EVER MADE! We chose the 1 week program. (We missed our girl, but they posted pictures and we could see she was doing great and having fun.) When we went to pick her up a week later, we were AMAZED! She was listening to the trainer, happily responding to: SIT, PLACE, HEEL, LET'S GO, OFF, COME, and more. Then they trained both of us how to communicate effectively with our pup and to practice her new commands. Besides her 1 week "Boot Camp," we had 3 training sessions to help us work on things at home and around distractions. Our puppy listens and obeys now, but she is still full of energy and is incredibly goofy (she is a boxer!) We don't feel like human chew toys any more, and we know she is safer on our ranch than she was before: she comes when we call and drops things when we tell her "off!" She is capable of so much more than we ever dreamed! We completely and highly recommend IQK9! [Please read original review] Update: Our dog is still great! Reflecting on the year we've had with our dog, and how far we've come since training. I have to say that she is doing amazing! Since completing our CGC & Trick classes with IQ K9, our dog has gone on to have so many other positive experiences. - We have taken her on many hikes, most of which we do off-leash. - She has been able to accompany us to bars, restaurants and even the gym. - We've approached new experiences like urban mushing with confidence, thanks to our bond and understanding of our dog. Everywhere we've gone, she has been complimented on her good behavior & tricks which we attribute to her training with IQ K9. IQ K9 has helped us to bond with our dog, and as a result, we have had an amazing year with her. Board & Review: We were happy to have Yuki stay with them when we went out of town this holiday season. We were worried that our almost 3 yr old shepherd mix girl was too old and out of control to train. We called IQK9 multiple times with so many questions and they were fantastic. Riley completed the two week immersion training and is now continuing with home follow up lessons with Stani. We are so happy with Riley's results so far and so grateful for Stani and her team. This place is amazing. The team is superb. Bret and Lianne were wonderful and considerate. They are naturally professionals .He even gave us a special training session before our scheduled training came just because we were so hopeless with our puppy's ( Samson)hyper attitudes and dominance. Long overdue review- When I first got my GSD pup, I brought him to IQK9 after Bret made a few house calls for the puppy training. After two weeks of training and boarding, I could tell right away that I made the right decision. My pup was much more obedient, great on leash, and obeyed commands (he was VERY stubborn prior). Fast forward almost 2 years later, I am still taking my dog to IQK9 for boarding whenever I travel out of town. HANDS DOWN, I trust them with my dog! He is always EXCITED to stay there and play. Bret & Lianne and the other staff members are always VERY accommodating and communicative. My drive there is about 1.5 hours ONE-WAY. That should tell you a lot! :-) read more

I can't say enough awesome things about IQ K9 training!!! We have a 7 year old rescue that we knew nothing about. After 3 years of watching him lose his mind at the sight of other dogs we decided we had to do something. These guys were answered prayers!! The entire crew is outstanding. Our boy was gone for 3 weeks (they sent us pictures every few days) and came back a new dog! Bret was very upfront about what to expect and the staff are incredible. We can take our pup to the park, harbor or wherever and he doesn't lose his mind. He listens and actually seems to enjoy the structure of his new disciplined life. Our only regret is not taking him sooner! Kaitlyn came to our house and met us at the harbor and strand for at home follow up. Our doggy didn't need it but we did. She gave us pointers and helped us to gain the confidence we needed. If we get another dog we will DEFINITELY be using them again. I cannot recommend IQ K9 Training enough! Me and my husband were in way over our heads with our new Belgian Malinois puppy, Bandit. After months of stress, tears and destruction we decided it was time to find professional help. I opted for the boarding school because I knew it was needed and I am so happy I did! Bandit has been home about 4 weeks since training and instead of wanting to rip my hair out with stress, I actually want him around and he is our new best buddy. Taking walks used to be an embarrassing nightmare but now he heels and walks beautifully. My food isn't being stolen off my counters and I can peacefully get stuff done around the house while he is sitting patiently on his cot. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner!
