She is a bit rambunctious since she is still quite young, but they seem to know how to handle her, which is reassuring. I know my pup is in good hands when I drop her off. Well I had a review on here (2 in fact) and I'm not seeing them...I just told someone at camp today that I had a review on Yelp...if I removed it...it was an accident because it's always been a place you can count on to take good care of your best friends. Sabrina and Lloyd were the reason for my ever coming and now they have retired which was definitely sad and shocking to hear but I hear we are still in very good hands. I've been bringing my Rudi and he is loving the playtime and playing with all the other babies. It's a fun safe place....Rudi is sleeping hard right now and that makes me happy...he's tired from playing all day. This facility is awesome! Very clean and fun space for our precious dog. The staff are also friendly and shows personal attention and care. We've also experienced boarding our dog for a weekend and what's great about them is that they follow any medication a dog has while in their care. The only thing I would want is better camera view for the dogs , but that is just a preference. read more

I'm so happy that we found Camp Run-A-Mutt for our dog, Jack! We love that it's located near our house, the daycare hours are great and the staff is very friendly and nice! My pups love doggie camp, they start talking in the car blocks before we get there. And, they are so excited they don't even want to wait for their human friends to check them in and escort them back to the yard - they're ready to head back by themselves! Staff are all great and caring, ready to give a hug, snuggle when a pup needs it as well as watch for all the controlled crazy that is part of doggie camp. I love seeing my fur babies come back to me with what looks like huge smiles on their faces. When the family who used to care for my pups were no longer able to do so do to an illness I was so concerned about finding another place for them when I traveled or needed "day care" - I am so happy I found Camp Run-A-Mutt. read more

This review is about grooming only, not day care or boarding. I brought my two dogs in to be groomed this past weekend. One dog came out great. However, the other was an absolute horror story... Upon arriving to pick up my dogs, I immediately noticed one of my dog's left eye was completely closed. The groomer explained the eye lashes were growing into his eye and decided to remove them completely - pluck or shave I have no idea. In doing so, his eye became irritated, resulting in his inability to open it. As any concerned pet parent would, I immediately took him to the vet hospital, where a series of exams confirmed the diagnosis of a corneal ulcer. The vet did not agree with the groomer's decision or approach to remove the eye lashes, as it could cause unnecessary trauma to the eye, which is exactly what happened. I have no doubt the groomer had my dog's best intensions in mind. However, I have a few issues with the way she handled the situation... 1) I would have felt much more comfortable if I had been notified beforehand so I can give consent for the groomer to proceed. 2) If my dog shows any signs of bodily harm let alone damage to his eye, I believe it is common sense and courtesy to inform the owner immediately, rather than force my dog to sit through the rest of the grooming appointment and possibly the grooming of the second dog in such discomfort (I don't know what order my dogs went). Here is where things got hairy. After my dog was discharged from the hospital, I called the groomer to explain the situation to her. She defended herself by saying "before I even started, he was already acting like that". I have a timestamped photo on my phone right before the appointment, depicting my dog completely wide eyed and in good spirits. Additionally, I clean my dog's eye at least every other day due to tear build up. I never noticed anything wrong with his eyelashes. Bottomline, I dropped my dog off to her fully healthy. When I came back to get him, HIS LEFT EYE WAS COMPLETELY SHUT AND HE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN IT. That is enough reason for me to leave a negative review and not recommend her to anyone. read more

Took my corgi in for grooming. Katie took really good care of my boi. They gave him the works; trim, bath, nails etc. Very fair pricing, also take advantage of their first time coupon with yelp. I dont know if my corgi is tempered enough to do the daycare/boarding but it looks like he would have a splendid time given the condition of the faculty. And the thing that first attracted me to the camp is that the dogs are outside all day (unless the weather is bad) and not in cages. We have two dogs -- one large and one small. They absolutely drag us into camp, occasionally trying to break in when the staff isn't there immediately. When we pick them up, they are far more energetic than when we took them in. When we get home, they sleep a lot, having spent a hard day playing. Although we usually take them in once a week, the staff know who they are and react fondly when they see them. When we come to pick them up and the staff doesn't know us, they brighten up when they hear the dogs' names. Everyone there seems to absolutely love dogs. They've both been camping at Camp Run-a-Mutt San Marcos for over eight years all four of us love it. read more

The staff is incredibly friendly, and the only complaint I have is that the web cams for the dogs have some blind spots, so I'm not entirely sure where my dog is throughout the day. When I do see her, she's having a blast. Camp even has a water splashing area! I highly suggest getting a 20-day pass. It's really expensive up front, but it saves you quite a bit of money in the long run. It breaks down to about $30/visit opposed to $40 without one. read more

Camp Run-A-Mutt is my puppy's absolute favorite place. When we adopted our dog last year we really didn't completely know what we were doing. Getting her in to Camp helped socialize her better than we could have dreamed. She's very happy to meet dogs, and even better, if they are shy - she gets low and meets them where they are until they are comfortable. And if another dog doesn't like her, she's fine - she moves on. That level of ease has been reached by her time at Camp. The staff are wonderful to her and look forward to seeing her. Almost as much as I look forward to dropping her off some days! We've even run into staff outside Camp and they always give her lots of love and let me know how she's doing. She also has stayed overnight for boarding. Her report card comes back great! I love that she gets to just be a dog and sleep with the pack. She's crate trained but she doesn't love it so sleeping on the couch suits her much better. We've used grooming services as well. It's so convenient to have her groomed while she's at Camp. The staff is very professional and always let me know if there's a concern. They spotted her puppy foot wart. I was able to get that cleared up before returning to Camp. In fact, the way the owners have responded to negative reviews on Yelp is why I selected them. I have no reservations leaving her at Camp for the day or the week. The very best part is when she comes home she's had so much fun that she sleeps all evening. read more

Camp Run-A-Mutt in San Marcos is amazing! We recently adopted a very high energy pup, and needed to find a safe place for him to blow off some steam while we're working during the day. He absolutely loves going to Camp Run-A-Mutt, and can't wait to play there each day! We tell him he is going to play with his friends and he gets excited and runs to the door. When we pull up to drop him off, he happily runs right in! This is huge, as he is also quite anxious as a rescue pup, so seeing him so happy and comfortable there makes us happy too!
