"Boot camp" options seemed extreme, so I called Bark Busters (BB), seeking in-home private lessons. Justin responded the same day I left a message, and we talked about my concerns with our new rescue. I decided to try the BB program, which ended up being the BEST DECISION for my pup and for me! Justin set up our first session with trainer/coach James. James spent much of the 1st session going through the goals, objectives and concepts of training, including a timeline based on reasonable expectations of my dog. James spent a lot of time explaining how to "read" my dog's behavior, and how to properly respond. He explained the concepts behind each step, which helped me to understand not just what to do, but why (thus enabling me to understand how to deploy the training to different situations). James also set up scenarios to practice, going through each step so I could gain confidence in what my role is while helping my dog settle. It really is about training the owner how to work with the dog. James provided summaries of each session, plus videos demonstrating how I can use different responses/techniques to reshape how my dog reacts to stressful situations. I saw significant progress very early in the training, and was surprised at how quickly we were able to help my dog understand his role (and to feel safe) in our home. The best part is that if I need more help, I just have to reach out to James/BB and schedule more sessions - this is included in the initial program. Given that it takes a rescue dog a while to COMPLETELY settle in, new issues could arise as time passes, and if so, all I have to do is call to set it up. In summary, Bark Busters is a GREAT dog training program, and James is a FANTASTIC BB trainer/coach! Definitely recommend BB to owners that want help with their dogs!

She is amazing and is so knowledgeable about dogs and each time we meet I find more peace with our rescue. Puppies are not easy and we had no idea what we were getting into with a rescue dog. We had our three dogs train today. One of our dogs is a real challenge at times and he was again today. The calm demeanor and experience with the two trainers was so helpful! I agree with everything she said. one thing I really noticed was how calm the trainers were. My dog Bodhi is a bit dog aggressive. Eric started handling Bodhi & he was just a calm as could be. I really appreciate that. The rattle snake avoidance class was not very long but definitely got the point across. Bodhi was moving away from them as fast as he could. I'm very happy with the training.

We trained both at home/outdoors and at a local park. He was so patient with Beckham, as well as with us. His directions were clear and direct. He was always available even on the phone when we would video tape Beckham on his training, always there to give us great feedback. I also enjoyed the fact that he got all the family members involved (my two kids that are 13 and 21). Jonathan was very flexible and worked with our schedule. We would highly recommend him to anybody that needs help with training.

Decided to go with the board and train to ensure she was set for success while away on a trip. I can tell you this place is legit, has the skills, and genuinely cares about their guests. Sit, down, stay, leave it, more respect with the cats and my resident dog at home, and way more confidence. From the phone to drop-off they were excellent at staying in contact and making sure everything we needed was addressed. They kept that same level of communication and dedication during our furry friend's stay, which definitely made me comfortable and secure in leaving my dog there. When we picked up our dog, we were walked through everything that was worked on and were blown away. The progress was undeniable. They will tell you what worked, what didn't, and make sure to work with you to plan for you pet's future needs. 10/10. I can't think of taking any of my puppy or senior dog anywhere else.

Jeffrey is a male lab mix and was 10 months old when he came to stay with me. When Jeffrey came to stay with me, I already had Koda, a male chow-huskie mix, four years old. About two months into his stay, Jeffrey became my forever dog. Also, at about that same time, Jeffrey and Koda began to get into some bad fights that needed human intervention to stop. My friend had taken her dog to Devotion to Dogs with great results, so I took Jeffrey for training. Jeffrey completed his training about one month ago and no fights with Koda have occurred after the training. Josh was great with Jeffrey and did Jeffrey's home visit.
