I've been with this State Farm agent ever since I got my driver's license in Hilo with my 2000 Toyota Solara. That was 8 years ago. Now I moved back to Oahu and I owned two vehicles covered by the same State Farm agent office. The staff had always been friendly to me and had accommodate my needs, even though I am 500 miles away from them and had never seen them since I moved back in Oahu in 2016 (but I will visit them once I get a chance!). After 18 months of jumping through hoops obtaining information, clearing former false claims by a reporting agency (taking 10 months to complete), I was told by this agent, "I think you should find another insurance company. I don't think we would be a good fit." After so many months of work and effort to achieve what this agent requested, she drops me as if nothing. read more

I don't have an issue with State Farm, its an issue with this agency. The lack of communication with me, and the following of requests of closing an policy was horrible. I don't understand how a request to cancel an auto policy can be so hard to let the requestor that one you got the request and two the request is processed. Both email and phone info was given but I had to email and call multiple times before getting a response that wasn't about what I was requesting. Communication is important to me and the lack thereof in this case will keep me away from this agency. Hopefully Iris can work with her on this. read more

Been with Statefarm for as long as I remember. And overall i been happy at this branch/location but i have to say i am very upset about their New policy which i only now found out about today. Statefarm is no longer excepting cash for some ridiculous reason. What made it upsetting is the fact that I had to wait for someone to help me. The door entrance is blocked and all doors and windows are tinted so customer's or their clients are not able to see if the staff notice us customers wauting outside to be helped. Then when finally someone comes out to help me they tell me I can't pay my car premium payment with cash anymore. So I waited and waited for nothing for I only had cash at that time.. I asume this new policy is due to this fake pandemic. What ever is the reason it is a bad policy in my opinion. Very disappointed. read more

I've had State Farm for years now for my auto insurance. I've never encountered any issues until now. Early in the year I had suspended my insurance because I would be in the mainland for an extended period of time meaning my vehicle would be parked. 8 months later here I am back in Hawaii. State Farm calls me to let me know that my auto policy would be cancelled come the end of the year because it was suspended for so long. I ask the girl how much is the insurance to reinstate and she quotes me wrong. I ask her 2-3 more times and still the wrong price. Then I call again & spoke with someone else about the same issue and she starts giving me prices on reinstating the insurance just to end up saying actually I'm not licensed to actually speak about your account. I call again and spoke with Iris, she started telling me about fees I would have to pay to reinstate the insurance and that I would need to provide proof of receipts as to why the vehicle wasn't covered by insurance on top of me simply being out of state. All of this sounded like a whole bunch of trouble for me to go through just to get insurance back on my car. I ended up telling my dad about this since we have maybe 7 car insurance policies with this particular company. He goes down there and actually has to let them know we're taking our business elsewhere before they agree to reinstate it without fees and providing receipts. This was back in November 2016. Come January 2017, I want to make changes to the coverage of the said vehicle because I will be selling it soon. The guy on the phone doesn't want to change my policy, he rather me come down there and meet with them blah blah blah. I told him it doesn't make sense to pay all this insurance for a hardly used vehicle plus it's gonna be for sale. So he agrees to make a few changes on the phone. Then when I look at my bank account no they're still charging me for the exact same coverage. What a waste of my time. Seriously looking into switching over to another State Farm office. I can't be dealing with this every time I call these people for simple things. this office is not the same as before due to all the new employees working there! read more

Many if not most people have heard the State Farm Insurance musical slogan: "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is There." I would be very glad to have Alex Montero, my local Hilo Hawaii State Farm Insurance agent as my neighbor! Ever since I moved here, Alex has consistently given me prompt, excellent advice on all of my insurance needs, but this weekend, while Alex and his entire office were away at a work retreat and I was preparing to leave for the mainland (tomorrow morning) I realized that I'd shipped my documents which showed current proof of insurance back to Los Angeles. My car would not be allowed on the ship without that proof. Alex and Iris Kuwaye (in whose office Alex works) and Alex's associate, Natasha Sato, all worked wonders to remotely get me the necessary paperwork so that I could ship my car first thing tomorrow morning and get on my plane knowing it would be taken care of. These people are terrific and do so much more than just sell insurance! They really care about their clients. I can't recommend Alex and Iris Kuwaye's office highly enough. They're wonderful and I feel so lucky that I had chosen them while I was living in Hawaii! read more
